SInce it just has preamp tubes it doesnt need a HUGE heavy transformer BUT it has mosfets which IMO are the closest thing to tubes as far as the feel and the way a tube sags and its punch. I just ordered on maybe ill make a video about the tube section of the preamp. MIne also has DSP i cant wait to get it.
it doesn't even showcase the tube settings or anything about the MOSFET effects. like, the knobby on the far left switches thru a buncha sounds but who knows for what reason? and where the hell is the footswitch.. gawd, i've had one for years and its still super mysterious..
They made 2 versions of this amp. One with DSP effects and the other WITHOUT. I have the early "non dsp" version of this amp. as far as not showing the tube settings...quite frankly the tube side sounds like balls. never could get a warm sound out of it even when swapping the tubes.
+OldskoolDM80s90s Yeah i have owned the GX130c as well as the ampeg. I will say the ampeg does sound a little better in comparison. the lead channel seemed..more smooth, i guess is the word. both great amps though. This GT-200 could honestly give them both a run for there money however.
This has an unusual sound design in that it sounds different than most amps. Mosfet and tubes or just mosfet and Solid state. I understand the lead in. But, am still unclear about the final difference of the construction of this amp. Allow my personal ignorance to be clarified. As I prefer the Palimino amps to the stealth and or the normal Solid state amps
Mosfet is Solid State it's a metal oxide semi conductor as opposed to the typical silicone semi-con. It has a higher impedance as well being a field effect transistor as opposed to a typical NPN
does this mean that in combination it has both solid state and tube systems in the system itself. I am full o used to Marshal Mosfet 100 ad 50 watt combos of the 70s and 80s only as far as the use of the amps. I always enjoyed thier tone and ease of play. But as an outdated system from solid state i still feel it has a wide array of opportunity for tose Tone heads that marvelled at them back in the day from Marshall. As far as crate is concerned I m not a practicing master of this system at all. So I look to others to set the record straight on the two systems from the back up in the day to the use of it today.
Distortion sounds very solid

Cool sounding amp. I hear the Crate GX130c is probably the closest sounding to a VH140c.
