i really want to get a German Shepherd. german shepherds and huskies are my favorite breeds. and ive done alot of research for both breed and id really like to rescue a German Shepherd.
yes! im planning on rescuing one when i can. but i dont know when that will be. im 17 and live with my parents so they have to approve it if i were to get one now sonce im under their roof but we already have my mixed breed and three cats so im not sure how soon id be able to reacue but im definitely planning on get one for my next dog and im planning on a rescue of i find one thay would fit into our home.
+Canine Heart German shepherds are such great breeds. I can't speak for huskies since I never owned one but German shepherds are really intelligent and loyal. They do require a lot of brain stimulation and exercise so make sure you have time to spend with your dog. Good luck! :)

currently I live in a house that doesn’t have a backyard my dogs can go in and I have three dogs, they all know how to go on grass and puppy pads. Peepads are fine to use if you get your dog used to both grass and pee pads

A bath mat/rug for the crate helps and a rubber mat under the puppy pads I think that looking in the cat isle yield better results for finding a rubber mat or you could look for welcome mats and outdoor rugs ect

Lucy Lu it's essential to wash them etc but not brush them when there hair is short no point in brushing then when they have short hair, might as well just run your fingers through it. but she has a gsd which shed butt loads so while it's not necessary to brush them I'd get one of those rubber brushes and give her a quick brush down with it outside every morning just so she wouldn't get loose hair all over my house.
like a lot have said already... its always essential to groom your dog no matter what. But also {:D German Shepherds need to be brushed everyday... they shed heavily
As I got a German Shepherd a month ago, he is now two months; I reccomend not using pee pads. It's not the best as they aren't learning to go to the door when they want to use the bathroom, it's saying they can pee in the house. Also, if you want to train you're dog, get a clicker. I reccomend it as I've already trained Dakota (My dog) to sit, stay, settle, and down. And I am currently working on more. ^^

I used to have my dog on blue buffalo too, but then I thought about how it has peas in it. At first I thought it was a really good dog food, but then I found out that you should avoid starches. By now, you probably put him on a different dog because he’s an adult, but I highly recommend natures variety kibble with the raw bits or wellness core with the raw bits as well. Or go freeze dried raw or a raw diet. If you research the raw diet and see all the dangers, you’ll actually find out that it really isn’t dangerous at all for dogs and the same bacteria you find in raw food is found in regular kibble dog food too. That’s why there’s so many recalls, but the level of contamination in the kibble is dangerous to humans rather than dogs. She’s so cute by the way, love German shepherds!
When I’m done with college I want to get 5-6 German Shepherds and Doberman don’t worry I will not abuse or use them as fighting dogs I’m just studying to make animal prosthetics and will work from home and have lots of attention to give and I just love German Shepherds and other big dogs

Katherine Reed whenever my dog tries to bite me I just blow on his face and he'll usually stop because when I blow on his face he gets annoyed and stops.
gsd puppies are known to be mouthy and it's necessary to teach them to not to, they will usually grow out of this but not always so training is necessary
I would recommend Blue Buffalo dog food, my gsd got a beautiful shiny coat and is very large and bulky from that food vs. her siblings that didn't get the same food. She's about 80-90lbs and wonderful. would recommend early training as well for any dog. Also what can help adding in your dog food is chicken and some rice, if dog has a tummy ache then some broth with a little bit of rice gets them feeling back on their paws in no time

I have a retractable leash and a normal leash for my Australian Shepherd. I use the normal one more though because it gives me more control, since it has two handles.
I'd also suggest getting ukeneba big breed puppy food. It works very well and probably get a bigger bed and you should get them from Ross, they are much cheaper :)
I have owned 2 GSD. I fed them both Wellness dog food. And Blue Buffalo Wilderness. They were silky smooth. Prefect weight and No grains or by- products. I do not recommend Ukinuba

SlytherinMcFluffle it depends what you're looking for. I got my yorkie from Pets 4 Homes and he got very sick (we think it was because he was younger than they said, he's doing very well now 4 years on with the help of my wonderful dad nursing him back to health) you have to be really careful with sites like p4h, you must be able to meet the parents, at least the mother. Also make sure you know the parents hip scores as GSD's are prone to hip dysplasia. That's if you want a puppy. If you want a rescue, a great place to go would be a shelter, you must get as much information on the dog as possible before taking him home. Rescue GSDs can be quite difficult, my grandmother has one and he was very aggressive before they trained him. With any dog you have to be completely committed, GSDs are not for people who don't have time to spend on training and socialising them. They are big, intimidating dogs and if that's something you're not prepared for please don't buy a GSD. You must do as much research on them before you even consider it.

Leash (check) & outdoor rope (check) 5. Cage (hell no) 6. Pee Pad (hell no) 7. Chew Toys, Stuffed Toys, Interactive Toys, Tennis Balls (check) 8. Dog Bed (hell no, he sleeps where ever he wants) 9. Treats (check) 10. Cleaning Sprays (not necessary)

They are very useful for your dog to go before their second vaccination though, because otherwise if they go outside then they might get a disease.

I got my yorkie from Pets 4 Homes and he got very sick (we think it was because he was younger than they said, he's doing very well now 4 years on with the help of my wonderful dad nursing him back to health) you have to be really careful with sites like p4h, you must be able to meet the parents, at least the mother.
Also make sure you know the parents hip scores as GSD's are prone to hip dysplasia. That's if you want a puppy.
If you want a rescue, a great place to go would be a shelter, you must get as much information on the dog as possible before taking him home.
Rescue GSDs can be quite difficult, my grandmother has one and he was very aggressive before they trained him.
With any dog you have to be completely committed, GSDs are not for people who don't have time to spend on training and socialising them.
They are big, intimidating dogs and if that's something you're not prepared for please don't buy a GSD.
You must do as much research on them before you even consider it.
