That's missing a very important point, one that's highlighted by the end of the video, China has one of the highest IQ populations in the world. "Immigration ... what really drove our economy forward, what drives any economy, is that we had the higher % than any other country of high IQ risk takers." There was a prophesy book called “back push map ” in Tang dynasty when China was at the peak of power about 1500 years ago. All the prophesies in book happened one by one in exactly order. There are three chapters left in the book which will happen in coming 300 years. At the end of prophesies, China will lead whole world to defeat the enemy from outer space and unite entire human race become one big family. So, I think, yes, China is taking the highest power of world, but not to dominate anyone which they could do it thousands years ago, they are trying to connect whole world together before it's too late!

    The instrument of our minds which 'recognises' 'power' as a universally evolved mechanism within our projection is too essential within our notion of dimensional consequence within our actions. The boundary of our autonomy makes me able to lift this phone laying around, just as much as it makes me write this text. 'Power' grew out of 'power over knowledge on how to influence our material world', and that's how we project that to the same instrumental, pragmatic leverage which is implemented in our mechanism to manipulate human beings. Now, using AI, as an instrument of prolongation of that modus operandum, doesn't seem wise, as it is in conflict with our notion of 'consequence'. Basically, 'we're not happy with our current world, so why would another instrument of ours bring solace?!' That's how our relation with our 'fear of death and demise, or suffering' works. Artificial implementation of that notion in one of our instruments might not work at all, who knows?! I hope sharp minds will figure that out. As natural life came out of 'plasma' and 'comprehension' is creating a magnetic field within a chemical barrel as ourselves, like pigeons defining 'direction' within the magnetic field, we have a lot of work to do on this subject.

    I live in China and do research here. Thomas Friedman does not mention that China’s immigration policy is far, far more restrictive than the US under Trump or any other era. Only 6000 green cards since 1949, and not a single foreigner getting a degree here at any level has ever been given permission to reside in China long term, to my knowledge.

    All cashless transactions is also a bad thing because unscrupulous or bad people (usually experienced hackers) can take advantage of stealing your online money from any innocent customers. Bad people can insert all types of computer viruses as well. Sometimes we need to also balanced the transactions with actual money or manual money or real money or hard cash. It's much safer with hard cash, the worst could happen to anyone who carry hard cash is we got mugged on the streets or any public areas.

    China's rise has to do with their capitalist yet protectionist policies (IMO). There aren't that many immigrants proportionally to the population, so that is something this video should've addressed when claiming that immigration alone is solution for technological stagnation (underperformance). There are too many cards on the table to truly see where the "EU vs US vs China" race for world domination is going.

    also due to chinas lack of data privacy and a shit ton of people, it makes sense that they will lead in this era. My question is how will china deal with the loss of jobs that this can lead to?

    • @大象大头
      @大象大头 6 лет назад

      Did you forget that China is communist? In other words, the government must take care of those without jobs, just as xi jinping is now helping poor people in remote mountainous areas. Democratic countries only believe in the regulation of the free market, that is to say, they only believe in the ability of individuals and require everyone to take good care of themselves, while the government has no obligation to help the poor. Capitalism is all about being a capitalist, and if you become poor, you may never get a chance to stand up again. If AI intelligence replaces most factory jobs, the Chinese government will prepare new jobs for those who lose their jobs. This actually frees workers from mechanized work and allows them to work in positions that require innovation and cannot be replaced by robots. For example, provide service work, design work, handicraft art work, and even afforestation and other environmental protection work. There's a lot of work that needs to be done by people that robots can't do.
