I have the south pole model which i think is just the new name for the k1 I've had knives from all different makers.. lionsteel esee Bradford spyderco bark river Chris reeve.. you name it I've had it. But none... bar none are as good as trc. If you are in any doubts at all about getting one put your doubts away. What you will get is a perfectly made amazingly practical work of art. They just are that good... and as a collector I am extremely picky. You can tell this man has been a knife guy himself and like me been let down many times. Get a trc and say goodbye to being let down.
Lionsteel is the closest company I would compare to TRC, but I have to agree, they look like they are close, but the level of perfection of TRC is unbelievable. I just wish that Lionsteel M4, was made by TRC, because I love that knife's handle ergos and blade shape, to death! It feels like the best knife I ever had in my hands. They just fall behind, in the little details, such us thickness behind the edge, heat treatment etc.. Truth be told,these are the details, that make a good knife, be a great knife! Do you own the Mille Cuori?
Not exactly USA but I know bushcraft Canada stock his knives and that's a reliable source. In fact pretty much anywhere that stock his knives will be decent. You might not want to order from overseas but knives and tool of Holland sell his work and they are super reliable. Ordered loads of knives from them from abroad and every time it's been perfect service. Lamnia stock trc as well but I've no experience with them but from all I hear they are a solid reliable retailer. You could also order direct from trc website. But if I was in the USA I think I'd first try bushcraft Canada. Not exactly USA but as good as.
