I didn't want to spend so much on a phone when I don't really need a new one, but I bought this phone and absolutely adore it, who's with me?? Favourite things about it?
Nice review. Finally watching one while having the 5 ii myself hehe. Its all what u said what u can expect and what i noticed after doing some research. I like it. The gaming is nice, the HS control. Cool design and a lot more.
Best review of the Xperia 5 II on youtube!!! And ove seen ALL of them! U point out things most reviewers dont even see. Like photo processing in dark being better on the stock app. One thing i havent heard anywhere is the change the screen to landscape mode with the small bottom left button that pops up when you turn the phone sideways. Mine doesnt turn back to portrait mode as easy.. anyone have this issue?
I guess the (But probably not for you) could be applied to all phone reviews based on the negatives you listed, considering I don't think I've ever seen a phone that didn't also have its own negatives at least as bas as the ones you noted here, just depends on if the person cares or not. The negatives to the Xperia 5 II seem pretty minor compared to all of the things it does right that many other high end phones don't do.
What do you mean *"Black bars when watching RUclips"?* Are you saying that the phone preserves the 16:9 ratio of RUclips videos? Coz I don't see a problem with that.
Nah, there's no problem with that! It's just that because this phones aspect ratio is wider than most other phones, it means the black bars are bigger. But it doesn't matter anyway since it's OLED so you don't even notice them
Lol! I live in the US and bought the international version (it was cheaper on Amazon) of the 5 ii and didn't realize that 5g wasn't available on the US version.
Wonderful. But I wonder if I have no any tools like LR or what those colour-correcting sofware that professional photographer have... ? Is Photo/CinemaPro still works fine to 'average user'?
Cinema Pro is basically useless without post production, in my opinion. Photo Pro can definitely be used without Lightroom though, you can choose to only save your files as a JPG. If you're looking to learn photography or do "pro" effects then Photo Pro is awesome for that, but otherwise you can stick to the default camera app too.
I had an S7 as well until 2018, had to replace it because the battery crapped out as well. I would say, maybe look into alternative manufacturers? Totally depends on what your budget is like. The recently (ish) released Poco X3 Pro looks good. But if you wanna stay with Sony and can afford to buy the 5 mk3 once it comes out, I’d say hold onto your S7 for a few more months if you can
@@PocketPixelYT Thanks for the reply. I still went with this one as I found one used (but only a couple of months old so pretty much new) for a steal at 3000SEK. Still in the setup phase so haven't taken it outside but brightness seems enough. Having been frustrated to no end with my S7 battery I'm so far very impressed by this phone. It feels and runs like quality and every single "drawback" listed online is pretty much something idc about anyway. I still think it's funny that it's called "compact" though. I was turned on to it simply because I searched "best 5 inch android" online. Not five inch but it's pretty much the same width as my S7 so I can still hold it with my tiny girlish hands. After purchase saw that the new Samsung flagships don't have a way to increase memory with a micro-SD. Sorry Samsung but unless the internal memory on a new phone is minimum 1TB then that's a joke... Just made me even more convinced this phone was a great buy. Edit: the pro camera apps and their features I currently don't even need though. Guess it'll allow me to learn a few basics on proper video making and photography too as an added bonus:P
This phone is certainly not for me as well as not for the majority of smartphone buyers. I owned it for one month, had enough of it to be convinced to re-sell it ASAP. Damn too many issues for $950 smartphone. Not worth it.
Totally agreed! I think this phone targets a certain crowd, and it's a very niche one. I wouldn't say the phone is overpriced, especially since the hardware feels extremely solid. It's just Sony's software that really needs refinement in some (important) areas
@@PocketPixelYTThat's not only software that Sony needs to do something with. I was pissed off with "simple" issue I didn't expected to come across. For some ridiculous reason some buttons constantly triggered when I had Xperia 5 II in the pocket. So it gave me typical "buzz" and corresponding message all the time. I thought that might be the case doing it. Tried two different Spigen cases - the same issue. And I won't even talk about pure camera performance here - subbar photo quality straight out of the camera. I won't accept any excuses about using PhotoPro app, my bad "skills" and other bla-bla-bla crap. It's just not good enough for $950 camera-focused smartphone. Regarding hardware, there is nothing special here either for price paid. I can get quite a few cheaper flagship smartphones for lower price (LG V60 ThinQ is a good example. It costs twice cheaper than Xperia 5 II now).
wanted to buy it but maybe not after watching this video, good job and thanks for covering many different aspects of the phone and you talked fast and got alot of info in
This phone pulls a lot of heart strings with me reminding of three X2 I had many years ago. However your review has made up my mind. It's not for me such a shame cos on paper it has such great potential
Sony Xperia 5 IV 🔥🔥🔥 NO bezels , NO top/bottom bezels. 1.0" Camera Sensor 🤯 Pop-up selfie camera 🤯 146x68x8 mm , 160g 🤯 1300 nits screen 🤯 60w charger 🤯
keep dreaming. Sony isn't going to bring in an 60w charger, neither can I see them with a Pop-up camera, since this would mean the loss of IP rating. So brezels will be there. They could upgrade the sensor, but I don't think that much.

Hi. How's battery life?
I have the Xperia 1 mark ii and I absolutely love it. It's been an absolutely fantastic phone
I love this video from the title.
This phone is probably not for everyone. 😁

i heared you can do dynamic refresh rate. i heared it is in the gaming app or so. that puts 120fps on in gaming and in movies or so
I Like your review in fact Sony flagships is weird understanable it has flagships specs but with problems
Wonderful.

This is filmed on a 5 ii isn't it
How's the screen in sunlight (not bright you say)? I have an S7 with crap battery rn... Is this phone worth buying used or should I keep using my S7?
