I was diagnosed stage 3 CKD early 2024 and told it would get worse. It is now November 2024 and I have no proteins in my urine. I spent two months tracking foods and how they tested in my urine and affected my body. I tested four (4) times a day. I can tell if I drink any sodas (diet or not) it affects my Kidneys and body, so I eliminated them. I can say that I will not eat out at most restaurants. Whatever they are doing to the food or whomever they are buying meats from and how those meats are processed and raised on certain diets, sometimes I felt like I was poisoned. I do not eat deep fried foods anymore and do not consume seed or nut oils. I have three go to oils as food additives and they are single source Organic. Olive, Avocado and Coconut, other than that I cook with Grass, Pasture Raised Cow or Goat Butter or Amish Butter or Ghee. I also drastically reduced my NSAID use, I now just tolerate pain and use it as a meter to tell if I am recovering fast. I now can eat a half pound ground chicken steak from the Georger Forman Grill, organic celery and zucchini and have no protein leakage in my urine and before it would be at or above Trace (sometimes 0.3 g/L). I just kept testing four times a day to discover what was stressing my Kidneys. I eliminated those food and drinks and stuck with specific foods and a lot of water or Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee mixed with Green Tea, Black Tea, Turmeric, Ginger, Clove, Cinnamon, Viet Nam Cinnamon, All Spice and Nutmeg. I used Coconut water for creamer and no sweetener nor artificial sweetener at all. I also started taking Vit D-3, Vit-C, Vit K-2, Chelated Magnesium, Vit E, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, Quercetin, Bromelain and Melatonin. I found my Coffee / Tea / spiced blend helps / allows me to pee with greater flow, so I do not drink Coffee every day, just every other day or when I notice my urine flow is reduced. I would sometimes add 98% or 100% Cacao to my Swiss Water Decaf Coffee / Tea mix so my Stem Cells production would increase. I done this on days before fasting as fasting long enough the body starts using a lot of Stem Cells to do repairs. I would also add Cocoa to Hot Spiced Apple Cider mixed with Cranberry Juice and Orange juice when I am on my Low-Calorie Diet. I switch between diets every 2 to 4 weeks. _________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________ **EDIT** I edit because people are asking me how I test my Kidney Efficiency to track a possible path for recovery. ** URINE TESTING STRIPS** Read the reviews for the Urine Protein Test Strips. One had like 3-star reviews, I purchased it anyways because I wanted to see how it worked compared to another brand. DIAGNOX was not always as accurate as the other ONE STEP P.
I have done the same as a Type1 diabetic and Fresh ginger garlic red chillis as these helped my gut bacteria but I have one black coffee as in the morning as it great for the bowl and I stopped breakfast 6 years ago and dropped all milk and processed foods of all types and now cycle everyday and as have lots of damage to my body from motocross and have found Turmeric and Cayenne pepper made a big difference and suffer no ache's or pains only when I stop for a while I notice. Also these supplements can stay in the kidneys gut etc bladder as after a come back of riding after taking these things for a year my urine was like milk after riding they are too refined so stopped these and urine is a clear and also drink fresh lemons into a bottle of sparkling water made every morning as I train and it's so good while I have a break deep in the forest mountainbiking.
Buying supplements, trying this superfood, that veggie, this fruit, or that herb-it all adds up to a lot of money. I’ve been there and done it all. Now, I’ve switched to a carnivore diet, focusing on fatty meats, butter, eggs, oysters, fish, lard, Celtic salt, and water, paired with intermittent fasting. It’s not only simpler but also far more affordable than constantly chasing supplements and specialty foods. There’s no more guesswork, and the results speak for themselves-I’ve shed inches from my waist and experienced a dramatic improvement in my health!
I started getting STABBING PAINS in my lower groin , became aware of oxalates and now avoid foods that are high in them. I was eating spinach almost every day, for example, and now have broccoli instead.
The video discusses various aspects of metabolic health, with a particular focus on organs beyond the liver that play crucial roles in maintaining metabolic balance. Key points include: 1. Metabolic Health: Metabolism is defined as the breakdown and production of energy, where each organ and tissue participates in the metabolic process. While the liver is well-known for regulating fats and glucose, other organs, like the kidneys, also play significant roles. 2. Kidneys in Metabolic Health: The kidneys are energy-intensive organs, utilizing fats and requiring a high level of mitochondrial function for sodium and potassium regulation. The kidneys help buffer fat levels in the blood and are involved in maintaining homeostasis by adjusting to metabolic signals. In a fat-adapted or fasted state, kidneys help manage energy needs by regulating fats. 3. Fat Adaptation and the Kidneys: Fat-adapted individuals, such as those on ketogenic diets, might have enhanced kidney function related to fat regulation, though scientific research is still emerging in this area. 4. Kidney Health Challenges: An unhealthy kidney can struggle to handle fats, which leads to fat accumulation and potential damage to kidney function. This highlights the importance of maintaining kidney health. 5. Ketones and Kidney Health: Ketones provide an alternative energy source for kidneys, especially in fat-adapted individuals. BHB (beta-hydroxybutyrate) can also reduce inflammation, help with energy production, and may have protective effects against chronic kidney diseases, such as polycystic kidney disease (PKD). 6. PKD and Ketones: For those with PKD, BHB and citrate supplements may help manage kidney health by reducing inflammation, supporting energy needs, and preventing cyst formation. Products like KetoCitra, which contains BHB and citrate, are designed to provide these benefits. 7. Oxalates and Kidney Health: Oxalates, found in foods like spinach, can contribute to kidney damage by forming crystals. Citrate in products like KetoCitra can bind to oxalates, potentially helping reduce the risk of kidney stone formation and related injuries. The conversation underscores the complex roles that various organs play in metabolism and explores how diet, particularly through ketone supplementation, may support kidney health and overall metabolic balance.

Kidney Scientist Reveals What Damages Most People's Kidneys 00:00 Introduction to Metabolic Health • Dr. Jacob Torres discusses the importance of metabolic health and its effects on various organs. • Metabolism involves the breakdown of energy and the production of macromolecules such as proteins and carbohydrates. • Each cell participates in metabolism, and this is important for all organ systems. 01:27 Interaction of systems in metabolism • Metabolism involves many interactions between different systems. • People often think of metabolism as creating energy, but it's more complicated. • Metabolism regulates homeostasis by balancing signals between cells. 03:02 The effect of various molecules on metabolism Glucose and fats play a key role in metabolism, providing energy. • Not eating also affects homeostasis, causing changes in metabolism. • All macromolecules, such as fats, carbohydrates and proteins, play a role in regulating metabolism. 04:14 The role of kidneys in metabolism • The kidneys play an important role in the overall metabolism by consuming a lot of fat. • The kidneys function as an atpase channel, which requires a lot of energy. The kidneys regulate fat metabolism by absorbing fatty acids and releasing them back into the bloodstream. 06:17 The effect of ketogenic diet and fasting on the kidneys • Ketogenic diet and fasting affect the adaptation of the kidneys to fats and ketones. • Fat droplets in the kidneys depend on the amount of fat in the blood. • In pathological conditions, lipid droplets can accumulate and cause toxic side effects. 08:30 Keto-citra and its effect on the kidneys Keto-citra is the first over-the-counter formula for the treatment of polycystic kidney disease. • Research has shown that ketones can affect the progression of chronic kidney disease. Beta-hydroxybutyrate in keto-citrate can provide the kidneys with an alternative source of fuel and reduce the load on them. 09:26 Benefits of Keto Zither Keto-citra helps bind harmful food components, reducing the load on the kidneys. • It prevents the formation of microcrystals, which can lead to kidney stones. Keto-citra provides an additional source of energy for the kidneys and helps bind harmful substances. 10:19 The role of kidneys in fat metabolism • The kidneys can regulate the level of fats in the body. • Studies show that the kidneys can use fats for energy. • Under the wrong conditions, fats can accumulate and cause inflammation. 12:40 The effect of a low-carb diet on the kidneys • A low-carb diet can cause muscle cramps and kidney problems. A ketogenic diet helps regulate sodium and potassium levels, which can reduce the risk of seizures. Glucose plays an important role in regulating the balance of sodium and potassium. 15:51 The effect of ketones on the kidneys Ketones can affect the kidneys both positively and negatively. • Under normal conditions, ketones help the kidneys, as they are an energy-intensive organ. • The kidneys use fatty acids for energy, which can reduce the load on them. 18:18 The role of ketones in the kidneys Ketones play an important role in the kidneys by increasing the glomerular filtration rate of GFR. • Different parts of the nephron may react differently to ketones. Ketones perform many functions, including energy, but their role in the kidneys goes beyond simple energy production. 19:08 Ketone production in the kidneys • The kidneys are the second organ after the liver to produce ketones. Ketones produced in the kidneys do not enter the bloodstream, but are absorbed back into the blood through a special conveyor. • Studies show that the kidneys make a significant contribution to ketone production. 20:06 Adaptation to the ketogenic diet • With a ketogenic diet, the kidneys can adapt and produce more ketones. • Studies show that adaptation to a ketogenic diet can persist even in the absence of dietary ketosis. • Adaptation to ketosis can improve kidney and mitochondrial function. 21:28 The effect of ketones on the kidneys Ketones can improve kidney health, similar to physical exercise. • Studies show an increase in the number of mitochondria in the kidneys during ketosis. Ketones can have a positive effect on the kidneys even without a ketogenic diet. 24:42 Polycystic kidney disease and ketones Polycystic kidney disease PKD is a genetic form of chronic kidney disease. PKD is characterized by the formation of cysts in the kidneys, which leads to loss of nephrons and deterioration of kidney function. Ketones can have a positive effect on PKD by slowing the progression of the disease. 28:02 Formation of cysts in the kidneys • Cysts in the kidneys occur due to the proliferation of nephron cells. • In polycystic kidney disease, cysts form quickly due to genetic mutations. • Studies show that trauma can be the cause of cysts. 29:06 The effect of BHB on the kidneys Polycystic kidney disease is caused by multiple mutations and mitochondrial dysfunction. • Inflammation and injury lead to the transition of cells to glycolysis. • BHB may have an anti-inflammatory effect by affecting macrophages. 30:34 The effect of BHB on immune cells • BHB affects the switching of macrophages between observation and active recovery modes. • It helps to stop the progression of the disease and improve energy production through the mitochondria. • BHB also affects fatty acid metabolism and transcription factors. 31:34 Anti-inflammatory effect of BHB • BHB inhibits the NLRP3 inflammasome, preventing an inflammatory response. • Macrophages have the GPR109a receptor, which is important for the effect of switching cell types. • BHB suppresses the NLRP3 cascade, preventing the progression of injury. 33:18 The effect of the keto diet on the kidneys • A keto diet can quickly improve kidney health. • Changes in metabolism and physical condition occur quickly. • Studies show that the keto diet improves kidney health. 36:06 Santa Barbara Nutrients Research • Santa Barbara Nutrients has conducted research to prevent the progression of polycystic kidney disease. • Ketocitrate, created by the company, contains beta-hydroxybutyrate and citrate. • The product does not contain sodium, but includes calcium, magnesium and potassium to improve kidney function. 38:32 Magnesium and Calcium • Magnesium and calcium prevent the formation of kidney stones. • They bind to compounds that cause the formation of crystals. Citrate also prevents the formation of crystals by binding to calcium in the urine. 39:27 Benefits for the kidneys • Potassium and alkali are good for the kidneys. • An increase in alkali in urine improves energy production in cells. • Citrate prevents the formation of microcrystals, preventing kidney damage. 42:55 Oxalates and their effects Oxalates are harmful to the kidneys and can cause the formation of crystals. Oxalates are found in raw vegetables and can be a problem for the body. Citrate helps to cope with oxalates, preventing their accumulation. 46:29 Cooking and oxalates • Cooking does not destroy oxalates. Citrate binds calcium, preventing the formation of crystals. • Free oxalates can enter the bloodstream and cause problems. 47:38 Plants and oxalates • Plants use oxalates to protect and accumulate calcium. • Soluble oxalates easily enter the bloodstream. • Oxalate research is difficult due to the variety of substances and their forms. 48:38 Resources on oxalates • All resources on products containing oxalates have been collected. • Links to these resources are placed in one place. • The problem is that food companies focus on oxalates, and independent research is rare. • It is difficult for non-professionals to decipher information about the content of oxalates in products. 49:12 Elements that help to cope with oxalates • The question of the presence of elements in keto-citrate that can help to cope with oxalates. • The exclusion of calcium and magnesium from the diet is due to their ability to bind oxalates in the intestine. • The hope is that oxalates will not be absorbed. 49:34 Conclusion • Thanks to Dr. Torres for participating in the discussion. • End of the conversation.
@@benphartine In Dr. Jacob Torres’ discussion on kidney health and metabolism, he highlights various factors affecting kidney function: Metabolism's Role: Metabolism influences many organs, including kidneys, which are energy-intensive due to their role in fat and energy regulation. Fats and Ketones: The kidneys consume fats for energy. Ketogenic diets or fasting can help the kidneys by adapting them to ketone usage, but excessive fat buildup can become toxic and cause inflammation. Ketocitra: Ketocitra, a supplement, aids kidneys by providing ketones as an energy source, reducing kidney stress, preventing crystal formation, and helping with polycystic kidney disease (PKD). Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD): PKD, a genetic disorder causing cysts, disrupts kidney function. Ketones like beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) may reduce inflammation and slow PKD progression. Oxalates: Oxalates from plants can harm kidneys by forming crystals. Supplements like citrate prevent crystal formation, protecting kidneys from oxalate-related damage. Overall, kidney damage arises from imbalances in metabolism, toxic fat accumulation, inflammation, and crystal formation, which can be mitigated with diet adaptations and specific supplements.
Protecting my kidneys has become a big priority. Switching to a simple steak and eggs diet made a difference, but adding some targeted supplements really helped. I found some great ones in Secret Supplements that turn you into a Superhuman. One that’s been essential for me is milk thistle-it’s been amazing for supporting my kidneys and keeping them healthy.
milk thistle is helping the liver, which is sth which is different from the kidneys. The effect on kidneys is only indirect, via reducing inflammation, or reducing blood sugar. once the kidneys aer damaged, you need your stem cells going to move. Other than that, there is nothing that literally repairs the kidneys, in contrast to the liver (which is a different thing ;). The top priority is keep them healthy
We were told in the uk to eat 5-9 veg a day which i did for a number of years , Recently told i had a cyst on my kidney . GP did not suggest a change in diet but just said oh you have an injurie!!!! They have no clue and are killing us. Thank you so much for this impotent information.
Guys, everyone ....stop! Stop expecting your doctors to know a thing about nutrition. Go outside the system. I had to. I'm a nurse and was killed by the system starting at a young age. Then, 2020 when I had a mold issue but wasn't given care due to my refusing the vent I didm't need. What a hot mess :(
Yes they do! They gave me Crohn's from 9 months of antibiotics and Ibu when trying to fix that they didn't get my baby out that had died and let me walk around 4 weeks and come to the ER all 2 days bc of pain and bleeding. Years later they gave me cortisone cataracts when trying to save me from the Crohn's they created😠 After 14 years I am allergic to all plant food now, anemic and malnourished what finally brought my vision down to 20%. They disabled me greatly. Never going to a hospital again. I wasn't even going when an intestinal abscess broke through my abdomen at 4 spots bc I was concerned they would give me the rest this time. I survived
I have Psoriasis, a few years ago, with Thomas contribution, I've experimented with Keto diet, it was good, I felt good, loved the focused "hunter's brain" but it's very hard to maintain, almost a part time and expensive, especially if one goes to organic meats. Took those lessons and became a moderate carnivore, with short sugary munchie stints and now... I'm better! Probably 80% less severe, which helps so much my self esteem. I do alcohol, sugars (lightly) and smoke (normal, one pack/day). Focused on butter, bacon, grilled meats, use olive oil in salads and cold foods, coconut oil on my coffees and tallow to cook meats. Replaced carbs for vegetables in about 25%/30% of meals and yes, changed my lifestyle to he countryside lightly working out more than before with normal countryside tasks.
Thanks! Anything the Government say to eat i just do the opposite. I recommend reading “Health and Beauty Mastery” by Julian Bannett that book is a real eye opener about shocking stuff health industry is doing! I completely changed my habits
many of us have been aware and awake for a long time, and had to learn the hard way though death and near death experiences. I'm a nurse who became disabled by the system and it's so sad to see so many suffering and who have, and still will, because of the deep state within :( Welcome aboard
I started taking care of my health after 2 kidney infections, peeing blood due to overconsumption of sugar crap. Ketogenic diet fixed me. This video is the most comprehensive and enlightening lecture I have come across. My father went all the way to kidney failure due to overconsumption of sugar, fat and salt. Now thanks to this video, everything is confirmed. Thank you for sharing this knowledge with the masses.
Boiling markedly reduced soluble oxalate content by 30-87% and was more effective than steaming (5-53%) and baking (used only for potatoes, no oxalate loss). An assessment of the oxalate content of cooking water used for boiling and steaming revealed an approximately 100% recovery of oxalate losses. Source : NHI
"An assessment of the oxalate content cooking water used for boiling & steaming revealed an approximately 100% recovery of oxalate losses" I did not understand this part? What does it mean. I'll be grateful to you if you can rephrase & explain. I really need it. Please 🙏
@@sulmez1 The statement means that during boiling or steaming, nearly 100% of the soluble oxalates lost from the food are found in the cooking water or steam liquid. It doesn’t imply that all oxalates are removed from the food, but rather that the oxalates that leave the food are fully measurable in the cooking liquid.
Two years ago the book Toxic Superfoods by Sally K Norton came out and will help you with understanding oxalates. I found her 7-8 years ago as a lone voice in the health field. I had had an esophageal reaction (choking to the point of vomiting) to oxalates when hiking. It was my trail mix of mostly almonds and dark chocolate and garden greens … chard, beets, and spinach for supper. Black tea as well. I also would have a bit of blood in my urine… sign of kidney stones. Currently, I’m eating dirty carnivore diet. I grow a few safer vegetables and berries and when they are gone … none. I’m done with most everything in the grocery store produce section. I’m much better… don’t see any Dr on a reg basis … no meds other than occasional ibuprofen. I’ve had multiple injuries to my hip over the past 40 years. At 70, pretty much med free is good. I eat lots of eggs and fatty meats. No more oils .. even low on olive oil. Pretty much no sugar other than what converts from veggies and berries and occasional adult beverage. Cholesterol is always good HDL 60 range LDL 90 range trig never over 50 and A1C low 5s. Cholesterol is not the problem in CVD it’s elevated blood glucose. Check out Bart_Kay on his channels.
2 tablespoons flaxseeds per day. My cousin healed her kidneys fully, and she only had 40% kidney function. her doctors were shocked. My mom and aunt started eating flaxseeds and calculating their magnesium intake, making sure they had enough. They got a bunch of additional health benefits, from vision to joint pain.
@@geoarango6698 - 7.8 GFR does not sound correct - did you meant 78? IF it is 78, you are in great shape, but if it is 7.8 your doctor would be prescribing dialysis.
I'm mostly on keto, but you got this scientist & ask him questions about ketones where there is obviously no research. First half hour is waste of time. Second half is very informative, thank you very much!
My question is, why would you eat that way when you have 0 scientific evidence on that diet. On the other hand, the blue zone diets/ meditarian have been researched extensively.
Thomas you might want to look into what makes up the natural flavor in KetoCitra after the big LMNT scandal where they were using Maltodextrin and hiding it under Natural Flavors on the ingredients label.
@@kintsugi6235 100 x more maltodextrin than they believed and advised was in some of the flavored varieties. Enough for it to have been required to be listed as an ingredient in their "no dodgy ingredients" product.
@@kintsugi6235 They were hiding Maltodextrin under the "natural flavors" label and got busted. Shocked Thomas hasn't addressed it as he was a big supporter.
Strong recommendation to have Sally K. Norton on your show and dive into the world of oxalates at a deeper level than you have. It could possibly have a play in your electrolyte issues. Oxalates can totally F up your electrolytes. I can totally speak to that myself… I've been on a low oxalate diet for five years now and I'm still having to take lots of electrolytes to keep things working properly Ish.
Un true, the oxilate levels in vegetables are not significant enough to affect human health negatively. Myth was created by carnivores and the ketogenic fanatics.😅
I developed a huge kidney stone while practicing vegetarianism. 🤦♀️ I used down pitchers full of spinach smoothies daily. And, lots of sweet potatoes and other high oxalate foods. Its a wonder my kidneys work at all.😢 Dr's didnt ask a thing about my diet. So, even after my MRI due to lower right side back pain, I continued to drink my smoothies for years. I educated myself and changed to a keto diet for a few years. I now drink lots of lemon/lime juice. Bought Sally K Nortons book. Eat low oxalate. The large stone broke in half sending fractured pieces down my urethra when I started a vigorous exercise program. Sending me to ER for MRI again. I hope it all dissolves before I die.
There is a very effective ayurvedic tablets for dissolving kidney stones within months of use. It's called cystone by Himalaya company. They have a US website.
Great point! Hope you're doing well. Thankfully, Sally K Norton is talking and educating people about oxalates. Not many other health influencers, even doctors and specialists talk about it. They are the worst for human health, especially kidneys!!! Period, end of story. Start there if you're concerned at all about your kidneys!!
Ohhh man! I feel your pain! I had major stone issues. Ended up w sepis from a blocked urethra. Lots of issues because they didn’t remove it when they knew it was too big to pass. Anyway, 4 yrs on I went carnivore a yr ago, I used to have heaps green smoothies everyday too, with chia seeds(high oxylate). I started doing caster oil packs and passed 3 in a week. I also drank cleavers juice while passing them. My latest MRI looks good, only a few small ones left(before I had a small collection). I can’t believe how useless the drs are. The only recommendation they gave me was to avoid strawberries 🙄
fellow stone maker here....yup, decades of issues, stuck via ureter (before the urethra!). I did the same with kale and spinach :( I do "chanca piedra"......dissolves them into powder.
intersting discussion, appreciated. 50 min disussion about kidneys and PKD, and not talking about drinking enough. Correctly he mentioning that it is not genetics alone, an injury has to happen first. Not drinking enough is a major cause of injuring the kidneys, and even it elevates Vasopressin which has been shown to trigger thee growth of cysts. Yes, hmas, that's true for yuo too... carbs or lo-carbs has nothing o do wth the amount of urine the body produces. Urine has to be light lemon yellow, any darker for a long time -> deterioration of the kidneys. Not drinking enough AND to much insulin = high BP -> deterioration of the kidneys, and PKD
Would love more on kidneys. Like micro dosing glp-1s for kidney heal. Parathyroid Disease and calcium / phosphate regulation. More calcium and kidney info please. 🙏
I had an adrenal gland removed recently prior to my kidney transplant because I ended up having primary hyperaldosteronism. They believe this hyper-Aldo was part or the cause of my primary hypertension. My hyperaldosterone was keeping my blood pressure up and potassium low. After surgery these markers flipped. I became sensitive to potassium and blood pressure regulated to normal. This made a nice home for my new kidney. My transplant hospital is now just adjusting my long term meds and electrolytes. It’s nice having normal blood pressure through the adrenal and transplant surgeries. Aldosterone can be found with a 24 urine collection and if discovered, adrenal vein sampling will determine which adrenal gland is overactive.
Thomas, I got muscle cramps when I went on a ketogenic diet. Overall my naturopath explained that I needed to add minerals when eating keto diet. But specifically for cramps, she said magnesium and potassium could resolve, one or both. And it worked!
I went from a 6.1 A1C to 5.3 in one month. Was told I was going to have a heart attack. Lost 26 pounds in 3 months and absolutely lowered all my numbers down. No more pre diabetic
I f you wonder why no one watches this video is because the name of the video Is buried in the cemetery, I'm 22 minutes in to a couple of aliens speaking a foreign language talking about your personal issues while never explaining the worst thing for kidneys, my wife has kidney problems and so far I've learned about kidneys dripping fat, who did you make this video for? Your mom so she can see how smart you are? Good grief I'm out 🤯 I learned more from the comments.
Thats why I always pause the video and go to the comments first. You can usually find the summary, time stamps or other relevant info faster than the whats in the video.
Psychedelics are just an exceptional mental health breakthrough. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against depression and anxiety. Saved my life.
Can you help with the reliable source I would really appreciate it. Many people talk about mushrooms and psychedelics but nobody talks about where to get them. Very hard to get a reliable source here in Australia. Really need!
Yes Steve_porss1, I share similar experiences with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addiction. Psilocybin mushrooms have been a game-changer for me, aiding greatly in my recovery and sobriety."
I wish those were more accessible here. Microdosing was the next thing I planned for my husband. He's 59 & facing many mental health issues, probably CTE & a TBI that left him in a coma for 8 days. Sadly, I had to get a TPO because he's 6'6, over 300 pounds, and displaying violent behavior, always talking about hurting others. He's really aggressive. If anyone out there knows about BPD, is it common to have an obsession with violence?
I noticed that some people, including myself have protein in urine if I follow a high protein diet i.e 250-300 grams per day. Is this normal ? Because the kidney cannot handle that much protein. Protein in urine is a sign of kidney damage or it's just too much?
Pretty much anything that the body doesn't use gets excreted, including proteins. They're not stored so overeating protein is not bad per se...but keep it within reason so as not to tax the kidneys by overworking them.
My Mom and her sister both have died from Metastatic kidney cancer. I feel desperate to understand how to keep my kidneys from killing me and my Dr is more concerned about my cholesterol I'm on real food keto so I'm not concerned . As a medical coder who codes surgeries I see so much disease in all the organs but I'm very concerned about the kidney still And this not a lot out there so thank you for this.
One major think is how you think, if you think your kidneys are trying to kill you, just imagine how that is playing a huge rol subconsciously. Your kidneys are your friends, and see them as a good part of your body to help you. And you're taking care of them. Natural detox are good, pray for your kidneys, bless them. I pray that you can overcome the fear and live in joy and enjoying what you're doing in Jesus name
Lower your oxalate and follow sally k norton!!! Doctors are oblivious to oxalate because lower oxalate and improving health doesn't put you on meds for life! like taking cholesterol meds!
Do some research on Kefir. It has so many bacteria strains that I’m sure some of them will deal with metabolizing oxalates from your diet. Plus, it’s an acidic drink. A win-win for the kidneys. The first reply of your comment is also very important. The mind controls everything ❤
WITH ALL DUE RESPECT HIS PRODUCT HAS CORN FIBER, ADDED FLAVORS AND STEVIA..... CAN WE BE SURE THAT IS HEALTHY ? IS THERE AN UNFLAVORED VERSION WITHOUT THOSE ADDITIVES ?
we need more potassium for kidney he says at min 38 or...boil veggies to reduce oxalates or and eat calcium with free ox iwll bind w calc then pooped . spinach has lot free. and citrate against ox or . dunno.dding three ounces of lemon juice daily to your diet is an easy way to help ward off kidney stones, particularly calcium oxalate stones, which are the most common. Three ounces of lemon juice is equal to six tablespoons, and you can typically squeeze that out of two medium-sized lemons.Mar
“Citrate” is a very general term chemically. What form of citrate is used in the supplement? Is it potassium citrate? Is it sodium citrate? Why is this not listed on the ingredients for the product
I wonder why the kidneys are not examined and more studies done on them? With thousands of rapidly increasing diabetes patients there should be more sturdies done on the kidneys but then there's more money to be made in dialysis and transplants and drugs!
Ughh I have to remember to Always check the end of these types of videos Especially Thomas Delauer videos to see if anything is being sold. I've learned over time to take any sort of research with a grain of salt, (No Pun Intended) when the researcher has a product they are selling based on that research!
How can you expect anyone to be able to survive without money? How can someone specialise in something without being paid? Of course they need a way to do both research, help us AND make money to live. Expecting anything more doesn't make any sense.
I went through a period where I was eating a ton of oxalates daily, maybe 200 to 300 grams of raw, blended, beetroot, 60 grams of cocoa nibs and after more then a year kidney blood test very good, organic acid test showed no markers for oxalate metabolism problems. I think some people, at least me, process oxalates find and they have zero negative effects on health.
one can utilize oxalates via higher acidity diet. Maybe you just have higher acidity or drink acid drinks/foods like lemonads/fermented milk/vegies has high acidity
There is a specific probiotic bacteria in healthy human gut to process Oxalates properly. Problem is, people who have had heavy antibiotic regiment or unhealthy diets can have this probiotic diminished. It happened to me. I never had issues with oxalates until heavy IV antibiotics from neuro lyme disease.
@@newwonderer Those higher acidity in foods -- specifically the organic acids like aceitc acid, citric acid, malic acid, gluconates, etc and potassium rich compounds -- actually convert to alkalizing factors after metabolizing. All of these specifically help with kidney function. Plus oxolobacter bacteria, which is also supported by other good bacteria help break down oxalates
Me too, and I still am everyday with lots of cacao, etc. My BUN is in the lower range, my GFR is 119 (always 115-120), drink a lot of water, probiotics, fermented foods all the time, consume a lot of (alkalizing) organic acids in food and drink, always a lower sodium, higher potassium diet. Maybe the only downside is I pee .. A. Lot.
Maybe because u did not cook them. I read a book that said vegetables high in oxalates like spinach should not be cooked, but eaten raw and u will have no problems. The issue only arrises when they are cooked
Back in 2021, they removed a 1.3 centimeter kidney stone from my right kidney. They blasted it with a laser then pulled the pieces out. All is well now.
So I've been taking potassium and magnesium for muscle cramps. It's been helping like crazy, I could barely do anything. Unfortunately the only information about muscle cramps is about females for period cramps. I have even talked to my Dr and they don't know they are claiming my potassium and magnesium levels are good but I haven't been able to figure it out. I'm hoping taking the extra potassium and magnesium doesn't effect my kidneys. I have been making sure that I'm drinking more since it was seeming that my kidneys weren't functioning right. And I think I was prediabetic so I've been eating a lot better. Glad you made this.

@@daks8888 I dunno much about blood sugar issues. But Sally Norton says calcium is good for helping to bind and harmlessly excrete loose oxalic acid. Of course other minerals also are. Citrates especially. When I cook greens, aside from choosing low-oxalate ones and blanching them, I usually mix in a dab of calcium citrate, plus eat dairy with them.
Ive hsd two kidney transplants. The first was as a result of succumbing to polycystic kidney disease (both kidneys). My transplanted kidney ended up lasting 10 years, and I generally struggled as time lapsed. I Wasn't fully aware of all of the dietary factors that can affect a transplanted kidney much more quickly. Bear in mind, i was careful about my eating habits, but not quite enough. Long story short, by the time i had my 2nd transplant ( Sept.2020) i had immersed myself in nutrition and understanding insulin. I started a ketogenic diet shortly before the 2nd transplant, which evolved within 1 year of going OMAD full time. My creatine level has stayed exactly the same since the day after the transplant. Its stays right around 1.0 and GFR is around 83. Watching this video has helped validate that a fat adapted diet was a Great decision, now understanding has important fatty acids are in the daily work load of the kidney.
What food do you avoid today ? What food you can have everyday ? I have several cysts on my kidneys but my level are relatively stable , waiting for a result next week after MRI Scan.
I had to go to the ER in January and they found 3 cysts on my right kidney. I’ve been Carnivore-ketovore since last year. I use Real Salt to taste. I deal with a lot of foot cramps early morning & sometimes at night even though I take electrolytes. Just wondering if anyone else has this issue & how you adjusted to stop the cramps. I’ve noticed my blood pressure is creeping back up and I was able to get off my BP med early this year.
Are you taking enough magnesium glycinate or citrate? Also getting enough sunlight, hat no sunglasses or sunscreens, and earthing grounding will help with the BP
I was just about to say, expose yourself to natural sunlight for vitamin D. I would suggest also fermenting milk with kefir grains. That’s a wonder drink. I hope you get well soon. ❤
I am a kidney donor so I know a bit about kidney health. High carbs and sugar lead to diabetes which is the leading cause of kidney failure, so avoid bad carbs AND sugar and drink lots of water. If you have CKD limit your protein intake to palm sized portions per meal, don't eat processed meats (deli meat, sausage etc.) as it is very hard on the kidneys. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Also watch your salt intake as high blood pressure can also lead to kidney disease. Don't drink alcohol! Check with your doctor of course for individual needs. This is for educational purposes only and is not intended to replace medical advice from your doctor. However, this is what I learned after donating my kidney through Cedar-Sinai Medical Center and my own kidney doctor who monitors my kidney health. If you are healthy, please consider donating a kidney and save a life - there are far too many people on the kidney donor wait list who will never live long enough on dialysis to get one.
Hey Thomas quick question I’m on Keto but my kidney function is declining wasn’t like this at first but I wanted to know does protein consumption affect the kidneys negatively because with the Keto diet I do increase my protein as I’m having less carbs the doctors are saying I should cut back but at the same time I won’t feel satiated if I don’t I’m finding hard would like your opinion on this
Hey Thomas, I'm curious what you or others think of my current diet. You have a great viewer base so I'll ask you all. Breakfast: 1 cup mixed berries (blueberries, black berries, raspberry) 1 tbsp buckwheat honey 2 tsp allulose 1 cup kefir, Bulgarian yogurt, or probiotic yogurt 1 tbsp olive oil 8oz 95/5 ground beef 3 Eggs Lunch: 8-12oz chicken breast 200g broccoli 16 asparagus spears Dinner: Second serving of 1 cup mixed berries (blueberries, black berries, raspberry) 1 tbsp buckwheat honey 2 tsp allulose 1 cup kefir, Bulgarian yogurt, or probiotic yogurt 8-12 oz Chicken breat 400g steamed carrot 100g kimchi or sauerkraut 16 spears asparagus I also will add or substitute with 1-1.5oz pecerino romano cheese, sungold kiwi, Brussels sprouts, 100g baby arugula or a spinach, kale, chard mixture. I've been doing this and have been very strict for the last few months after a successful carnivore diet which i did for about 8 months. Started somewhere around 35-40% BMI based on the BMI chart and according to a Dexa scan last month I'm now 12%. I use an app called Macro Factor to take a lot of the guess work out and eat between 2400-2700 calories and day. Any thoughts or suggestions on what I can add to switch things up? Thank you to anyone in advance who takes the time to opine/give advice.
DROP the asparagus entirely, it's a stem/leaf. Not good. Drop the brocolli too. I do the same diet as you, almost exactly. Except I only eat cruciferous cabbage fermented only. I.e. saurkraut. Drop the chicken, it's pointless. You need fatty meat. Chicken /pork should be avoided. IT causes inflammation. Trade the chicken for sirloin or cheap beef, or ground beef etc. Switch the chicken for salmon or something. I only eat: Beef, Salmon/top hunting fish, no bottom feeders. Eggs/quail eggs Berries and certain fruits All fruits for carbs = PUMPKIN,SQUASH, ETC. Occasional potato for carbs. Drop all stems and leaves and seeds and nuts. Add more fat and only eat cabbage if it's fermented. Onion/garlic is fine too. Just avoid stems and leaves 🍃
@@tacophillings9282 regular lettuce is fine to get some roughage in the diet. Avoid all high or medium oxalate leaves and stems though for sure. lettuce is very benign overall ( not spinach or kale or that crap).
@truthseeker2222 no you're right, I do occasionally have certain lettuce or dark leafy green . But hardcore roughage like kale etc. Never. Oxalate is a big issue. But with enough calcium intake, after carnivore, I definitely need carbs and allow myself certain tubers. Sweet potato may be higher in oxalate but red potato etc....i carb load once every 5 days with potato, Just not grains. But mostly consume fat/protein/snack on fruits.
I am wondering if i my on early stages of kidney failure or parasites. Similar sidr effects. Have itchy skin frothy urine feet swelling times feels like something moving undermy skin.
Dr. Jacob Torus, a kidney researcher, explains that kidneys play a vital role in energy and fat management, not just waste filtration. They adapt to different diets, like high-fat or fasting, which can affect conditions like chronic kidney disease (CKD) and polycystic kidney disease (PKD). Ketones, especially beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB), help improve kidney function and reduce inflammation. Based on this, the product Keto Citra was developed to provide energy and reduce harmful crystal formation in kidneys, especially for those with CKD or PKD. Keto Citra also counters oxalates in foods, which can damage kidneys, by binding calcium to prevent crystal buildup. Torus’s research suggests that dietary changes and ketones can quickly boost kidney health and support overall metabolic balance.
You didn't exactly say it this way. High calorie diets with resulting high insulin causes hypertension and fluid retention because insulin makes us retain sodium. A low carb diet, makes our insulin drop thus we get low sodium. Over history salt was a valuable commodity because our natural low insulin state requires high sodium intake.

Very strange Thomas. When i am in Low or Zero Carb state. no muscle cramping . When i go way off the wagon and ie eat 1 cup of Jasmine Rice too near bed time, after that , It is garrenteed and always happened , i'll wake up with SEVER cramping.
So why do I pee more at night if I minimize liquids 4 hrs b4 bed? My blade emptys after urination (tested flow and pressure). I consume Real/Celtic Salt. I'm not obese. Are my kindness working overtime? My labs are good except my TSH (hyper).
Yes, oxalate accumulation may be a problem, but what other acids are accumulating and compounding the problem has not been studied. I think it is only an issue if you eat animal products which cause a lot of metabolic acids. I dont see a problem with oxalates in vegans. Why dont you invite scientists who are vegans?
I see it all the time, the western propaganda for carnivore diet is just bizarre. The healthiest and longest living populations eat high veg and high fruit. And guess what? Oxalates don’t seem to be an issue in them. These carnivore pushers are all spewing nonsense!

Loving Celtic salt. It's such a simple addition to my day
I started getting STABBING PAINS in my lower groin , became aware of oxalates and now avoid foods that are high in them. I was eating spinach almost every day, for example, and now have broccoli instead.
The video discusses various aspects of metabolic health, with a particular focus on organs beyond the liver that play crucial roles in maintaining metabolic balance. Key points include:

Kidney Scientist Reveals What Damages Most People's Kidneys
00:00 Introduction to Metabolic Health
• Dr. Jacob Torres discusses the importance of metabolic health and its effects on various organs.
• Metabolism involves the breakdown of energy and the production of macromolecules such as proteins and carbohydrates.
• Each cell participates in metabolism, and this is important for all organ systems.
01:27 Interaction of systems in metabolism
• Metabolism involves many interactions between different systems.
• People often think of metabolism as creating energy, but it's more complicated.
• Metabolism regulates homeostasis by balancing signals between cells.
03:02 The effect of various molecules on metabolism
Glucose and fats play a key role in metabolism, providing energy.
• Not eating also affects homeostasis, causing changes in metabolism.
• All macromolecules, such as fats, carbohydrates and proteins, play a role in regulating metabolism.
04:14 The role of kidneys in metabolism
• The kidneys play an important role in the overall metabolism by consuming a lot of fat.
• The kidneys function as an atpase channel, which requires a lot of energy.
The kidneys regulate fat metabolism by absorbing fatty acids and releasing them back into the bloodstream.
06:17 The effect of ketogenic diet and fasting on the kidneys
• Ketogenic diet and fasting affect the adaptation of the kidneys to fats and ketones.
• Fat droplets in the kidneys depend on the amount of fat in the blood.
• In pathological conditions, lipid droplets can accumulate and cause toxic side effects.
08:30 Keto-citra and its effect on the kidneys
Keto-citra is the first over-the-counter formula for the treatment of polycystic kidney disease.
• Research has shown that ketones can affect the progression of chronic kidney disease.
Beta-hydroxybutyrate in keto-citrate can provide the kidneys with an alternative source of fuel and reduce the load on them.
09:26 Benefits of Keto Zither
Keto-citra helps bind harmful food components, reducing the load on the kidneys.
• It prevents the formation of microcrystals, which can lead to kidney stones.
Keto-citra provides an additional source of energy for the kidneys and helps bind harmful substances.
10:19 The role of kidneys in fat metabolism
• The kidneys can regulate the level of fats in the body.
• Studies show that the kidneys can use fats for energy.
• Under the wrong conditions, fats can accumulate and cause inflammation.
12:40 The effect of a low-carb diet on the kidneys
• A low-carb diet can cause muscle cramps and kidney problems.
A ketogenic diet helps regulate sodium and potassium levels, which can reduce the risk of seizures.
Glucose plays an important role in regulating the balance of sodium and potassium.
15:51 The effect of ketones on the kidneys
Ketones can affect the kidneys both positively and negatively.
• Under normal conditions, ketones help the kidneys, as they are an energy-intensive organ.
• The kidneys use fatty acids for energy, which can reduce the load on them.
18:18 The role of ketones in the kidneys
Ketones play an important role in the kidneys by increasing the glomerular filtration rate of GFR.
• Different parts of the nephron may react differently to ketones.
Ketones perform many functions, including energy, but their role in the kidneys goes beyond simple energy production.
19:08 Ketone production in the kidneys
• The kidneys are the second organ after the liver to produce ketones.
Ketones produced in the kidneys do not enter the bloodstream, but are absorbed back into the blood through a special conveyor.
• Studies show that the kidneys make a significant contribution to ketone production.
20:06 Adaptation to the ketogenic diet
• With a ketogenic diet, the kidneys can adapt and produce more ketones.
• Studies show that adaptation to a ketogenic diet can persist even in the absence of dietary ketosis.
• Adaptation to ketosis can improve kidney and mitochondrial function.
21:28 The effect of ketones on the kidneys
Ketones can improve kidney health, similar to physical exercise.
• Studies show an increase in the number of mitochondria in the kidneys during ketosis.
Ketones can have a positive effect on the kidneys even without a ketogenic diet.
24:42 Polycystic kidney disease and ketones
Polycystic kidney disease PKD is a genetic form of chronic kidney disease.
PKD is characterized by the formation of cysts in the kidneys, which leads to loss of nephrons and deterioration of kidney function.
Ketones can have a positive effect on PKD by slowing the progression of the disease.
28:02 Formation of cysts in the kidneys
• Cysts in the kidneys occur due to the proliferation of nephron cells.
• In polycystic kidney disease, cysts form quickly due to genetic mutations.
• Studies show that trauma can be the cause of cysts.
29:06 The effect of BHB on the kidneys
Polycystic kidney disease is caused by multiple mutations and mitochondrial dysfunction.
• Inflammation and injury lead to the transition of cells to glycolysis.
• BHB may have an anti-inflammatory effect by affecting macrophages.
30:34 The effect of BHB on immune cells
• BHB affects the switching of macrophages between observation and active recovery modes.
• It helps to stop the progression of the disease and improve energy production through the mitochondria.
• BHB also affects fatty acid metabolism and transcription factors.
31:34 Anti-inflammatory effect of BHB
• BHB inhibits the NLRP3 inflammasome, preventing an inflammatory response.
• Macrophages have the GPR109a receptor, which is important for the effect of switching cell types.
• BHB suppresses the NLRP3 cascade, preventing the progression of injury.
33:18 The effect of the keto diet on the kidneys
• A keto diet can quickly improve kidney health.
• Changes in metabolism and physical condition occur quickly.
• Studies show that the keto diet improves kidney health.
36:06 Santa Barbara Nutrients Research
• Santa Barbara Nutrients has conducted research to prevent the progression of polycystic kidney disease.
• Ketocitrate, created by the company, contains beta-hydroxybutyrate and citrate.
• The product does not contain sodium, but includes calcium, magnesium and potassium to improve kidney function.
38:32 Magnesium and Calcium
• Magnesium and calcium prevent the formation of kidney stones.
• They bind to compounds that cause the formation of crystals.
Citrate also prevents the formation of crystals by binding to calcium in the urine.
39:27 Benefits for the kidneys
• Potassium and alkali are good for the kidneys.
• An increase in alkali in urine improves energy production in cells.
• Citrate prevents the formation of microcrystals, preventing kidney damage.
42:55 Oxalates and their effects
Oxalates are harmful to the kidneys and can cause the formation of crystals.
Oxalates are found in raw vegetables and can be a problem for the body.
Citrate helps to cope with oxalates, preventing their accumulation.
46:29 Cooking and oxalates
• Cooking does not destroy oxalates.
Citrate binds calcium, preventing the formation of crystals.
• Free oxalates can enter the bloodstream and cause problems.
47:38 Plants and oxalates
• Plants use oxalates to protect and accumulate calcium.
• Soluble oxalates easily enter the bloodstream.
• Oxalate research is difficult due to the variety of substances and their forms.
48:38 Resources on oxalates
• All resources on products containing oxalates have been collected.
• Links to these resources are placed in one place.
• The problem is that food companies focus on oxalates, and independent research is rare.
• It is difficult for non-professionals to decipher information about the content of oxalates in products.
49:12 Elements that help to cope with oxalates
• The question of the presence of elements in keto-citrate that can help to cope with oxalates.
• The exclusion of calcium and magnesium from the diet is due to their ability to bind oxalates in the intestine.
• The hope is that oxalates will not be absorbed.
49:34 Conclusion
• Thanks to Dr. Torres for participating in the discussion.
• End of the conversation.
Wow! Thanks 😅😊
That was a lot of work on your part. I think I will try to follow you. I hope you make more analysis of other dietary videos.
Thank you very much.
@@benphartine In Dr. Jacob Torres’ discussion on kidney health and metabolism, he highlights various factors affecting kidney function:
Metabolism's Role: Metabolism influences many organs, including kidneys, which are energy-intensive due to their role in fat and energy regulation.

What a hot mess :(
Are you saying you think veggies are hurting you?
Yes they do! They gave me Crohn's from 9 months of antibiotics and Ibu when trying to fix that they didn't get my baby out that had died and let me walk around 4 weeks and come to the ER all 2 days bc of pain and bleeding. Years later they gave me cortisone cataracts when trying to save me from the Crohn's they created😠
After 14 years I am allergic to all plant food now, anemic and malnourished what finally brought my vision down to 20%.

Boiling markedly reduced soluble oxalate content by 30-87% and was more effective than steaming (5-53%) and baking (used only for potatoes, no oxalate loss).

Same. The amount of electrolytes I need a day is kind of crazy to me lmao but it's what I need so I drink it.
I developed a huge kidney stone while practicing vegetarianism. 🤦♀️
I used down pitchers full of spinach smoothies daily. And, lots of sweet potatoes and other high oxalate foods. Its a wonder my kidneys work at all.😢
Dr's didnt ask a thing about my diet.

Also, zero mention of "the" shots...effect of spike protein on vasculature.

Is keto bad for kidney cause protein is involved
Glad youre doing better!

I was just about to say, expose yourself to natural sunlight for vitamin D. I would suggest also fermenting milk with kefir grains. That’s a wonder drink. I hope you get well soon. ❤
You’re probably deficient in magnesium since keto/carnivore lacks so much vital nutrition. Please don’t fall for this gimmick.

I only eat:
Beef,
Salmon/top hunting fish, no bottom feeders.
Eggs/quail eggs
Berries and certain fruits
All fruits for carbs = PUMPKIN,SQUASH, ETC.
Occasional potato for carbs.
Drop all stems and leaves and seeds and nuts.
Add more fat and only eat cabbage if it's fermented.
Onion/garlic is fine too. Just avoid stems and leaves 🍃

So I need to understand: If I don't eat, will the kidney still be working??
