I did pretty much the same thing back in 2008. American Airlines were doing cheap flights from Stansted, so I flew to JFK on the Saturday, stayed with friends in Brooklyn, and flew back on the Monday. Loved it.
JFK T7 used to be the British Airways terminal (and a myriad of other carriers including United for many years) before BA moved to Terminal 8. I've taken many a flight - and seen many a Concorde** - from Terminal 7. It's more than 50 years old and it's the oldest remaining terminal in use at JFK. There is a reason why BA bolted! It's definitely old and has poor sight lines of the ramp and suffers from a lack of natural light. Even in the BA days, it was substandard in terms of amenities and food choices (a McDonalds in the middle). Of course, I never got to see the Concorde Club lounge but I'll assume that was much better. Since BA left, it's kind of become the domain of other carriers that don't fit in the other terminals or alliances, and as a facility, it's looking tired and in less than prime condition. Its days are somewhat numbered. It will eventually become connected to, and possibly part of, Terminal 6 which is currently being built next door. Once that terminal is open, the plan is for T7 to close and be demolished/redeveloped. Large airports are never-ending construction sites. ** I was at T7 in 2003 to see the very last Concorde flight leave on its way back to London. Had to pull some strings to get past security (with no boarding pass) but there were others there to witness a little bit of history. Very bittersweet day, that one.
You'll hate me for this, but there's something about watching someone else having a rotten travel experience, while chilling out at home with a brew which is really cosy!
Great stuff Lee! Hope you're feeling better now! I really appreciate your work getting this out for us! I really do love your travel videos especially. It feels like we are right there with you!
Lee, the reason you were on a remote stand and transferred to the terminal by bus is possibly due to the lack of vacant stands with Air Bridges at that time in the morning due to the building work at T2 and volume of traffic. Certainly not because Manchester is 'Up North ' or anything like. I flew to Calgary from Heathrow earlier this year and hated it. Much prefer the new T2 at Manchester. Things will be much better when the terminal modifications are complete. Certainly not the worst airport I've ever used.
I once spent 72 hours in Sydney all the way from the UK. Absolutely amazing experience and a beautiful place, Sydney. So I understand your night away in New York!! Life is too short. Glad you are enjoying life and love your videos. Thank you for sharing.
last time i flew into manchester it was with a bunch of lads who used to be mates of mine, one lad had been a complete pain all holiday and i literally had to babysit every issue and problem he had, even when we landed he would not stop moaning. so walking through nothing to declair i loudly said 'oi (name retracted) you still got them drugs up your arse!' he never spoke to me again!
Just returned from Barbados flying with Aer Lingus in economy, overall pleased with them, on time both ways, free to chose your seats, decent leg room, food was average but no worse than alot of airlines , would use them again definitely.
When you went to Australia last year you did a wake up scene, snoring and talking in your sleep haha....I found that funny...do it again on your next flight
We have Fisherman's Friends here in the states for a long time now. I guess you heard that Spirit Airlines filed for bankruptcy. Nice vlog Lee, I hope you are feeling better.
Can’t beat a transatlantic flight followed by a bus journey ! Hate it when that happens. When I learned to fly I had a few instructors and they all went on to work for the airlines. They all say that the job is nothing more than a glorified bus driver - well observed ! Great vid, get well soon 👍
Very interesting Aer Lingus flies non stop from New York JFK to Manchester, Lee. Looks like you are getting a nasty cold. Take good care of yourself with plenty of rest, drink plenty of fluids, and have a nice hot tea with lemon.
Hang on a minute lee. You said you got through customs really quickly at Manchester Airport a while a go and said shame on Heathrow and how they should take note from Manchester. I am very confused now 😕. I gather different terminals are better or worse.
Glass of red wine; eating mixed meat and prawn Indian curry (Madras strength), saag (spinach) rice and saag aloo (potato) Lee and enjoying some more of your adventures! 😊
Keep driving 3 odd hours from Leeds all the way down to Heathrow then……. OR …….pay more to fly on a better airline from Manchester and then you’ll get your beloved jet bridge and won’t have to slum it going outside! Poor old soul. 🤦♂️
Good Evening Lee. Thank you very much for Inviting me along, on your journey. I could see how You and your fellow Passengers were Treated. The Quality of the In Flight Food and the Amount of leg room now on a Airplane. The Airlines, are Trying to reduce the Amount of Customer Service and the Overall Experience of Flying now. Aer Lingus, not bad i suppose, but lacking in other area's. I think Lee, you were Suffering from Severe Jet Lag. You needed, Plenty of Sleep and Rest. You really did do Your Best. Hope your Throat does get Better and I Hoped that you had a Safe journey back Home, to be with Your Family. Good Night Lee. Sleepwell. Jonathan/ Peterborough.
A scheduled airline parking up on remote where you have to get off onto a bus usually means that there has been a problem with the aircraft and needs to be checked by ground maintenance. I hope this helps
Flew from Terminal 7 JFK a few times in the past, as it used to be the BA terminal, but they fly from T8 now. Looks like is been refurbished since I was last in T7 though. Onwards. 😎
A Trolly a £1, at least Dick Turpin wore a mask and a muffin for breakfast 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 they go all out on air Lingus for there passengers 🤣🤣🤣Hope you feel better Lee 👍
Hope your feeling better Lee ! What do you think of the Jaguar rebranding ?!? Good job Porsche aren’t rebranding , I can see you now in one of those outfits in baby pink 🤣🤣🤣 strolling on the forecourt 😮
I traveled from Newcastle to Tenerife a few weeks ago with Ryanair and the flight was okay but boy the seats made my rump end ache and feel numb. I’m guessing the long haul flights have comfier seats as I’ll be flying to Florida at some point
My Uncle Dave, piloted 27yrs. for American Airlines. Boeing 727, then the 777. JFK & ORD to Shanghai, Seoul, & Tokyo mostly. He would fly N° over Canada & North Pole. Then S° to Asia, cutting the flight time almost in half. He's retired, in Naples FL. Been married to my Aunt, 38yrs. My Godfather :) Good man - MDK ✌️
Another great video Lee, hope you did not go down with a winter virus. How do you video at night without getting reflections from the window, every time I try it I keep getting reflections from inside the cabin. I am using an IPhone 14 Plus. Thanks for any help. 😊🥰
I do like your flight videos. Now that I can’t travel any more these are a pretty good substitute. Thanks for persevering with the filming when you didn’t feel that good. Well done.
Thanks for the latest up load Lee! I too dislike Olives and salute Magpies 😅 Get some rest Lee and I am sure you will be feeling better in no time. Take care Buddy 🙂
Don't think I'll be flying Aer Lingus anytime soon. Any interest in going to Seattle/Vancouver area Lee? Might be interesting seeing cities off the beaten track.
Aer Lingus is pretty good. Better to book direct. There are Xmas trees in hotels in England in November. it's nice. They even sell mince pies in November. They used to offer a deluxe meal for $25 years ago. They discontinued it. Legroom looks awful. I think PIA used to fly the same route. When I flew to Dublin years ago there was no breakfast. Just OJ. I like a muffin for breakfast. No coffee? If no coffee I agree not good. Premium economy is much nicer but expensive.
Why are you whining about Manchester airport? We’ve flown in there a couple times in the past 2 years and it’s a whole lot easier to deal with than LHR. No contest really. Quick to get through and easy transit to Manchester Piccadilly too. And your UK Border Force people are quick and pleasant there….unlike Heathrow. Honesty, I don’t get the complaint on this one.
Hey Lee. Smooth FM were playing Xmas songs earlier at work. Too early for Xmas trees and songs 😅. Quite like a pilots uniform tbh. An Officer and a Gentlemen comes to mind 😅 Loved the vlog ❤. Bless you. You did look tired please Take care and get some rest with your family .x
Aer Lingus is not an Irish carrier anymore basically part of British Airways now Aer Lingus staff are always friendly but over the last few years the standards have dropped abit especially the food.
I have flown so much on so many different airlines I couldn’t name them all. I do remember this Airline though. I used them in 2009. They were the cheapest worst airline I have ever utilized and it isn’t even close. I see why they got bought out, they were horrible at what they attempted to do.
I know some flights at Manchester are step on step off but it's the first time I've seen it on a transatlantic flight. I have to admit though I do like flying from there. Great video Lee. Hope you're feeling better
You feeling better now mate?? Anyway, EVEN Virgin Atlantic occasionally parks up on an OFF terminal gate at Heathrow. I,d guess at 1 or 2 per day out of their 30 or so inbound flights. This is due to Terminal stand capacity being at saturation point at peak times and therefore needs to park where a bus or 6 are needed.
I used to work at Aer Lingus IT department at Dublin Airport. There's a probability that your booking process "touched" some of my code. Uuurrrgghhh, makes me feel dirty! 😂😂😂😂😂
its basically a 50/50 chance of getting stairs or an airbridge at Manchester. More likely to get a jet bridge if its a long-haul flight, but seems you were unlucky there!

Controversially, I quite like walking down the steps and walking across the tarmac when leaving a plane. I always think of the glamour of Cary Grant or Ian Fleming, often photographed doing just that in the 50s or 60s. Let’s face it, flying offers precious little glamour otherwise, these days.
As a little boy I used to fly unaccompanied back home to Antigua, often in my school uniform. BA quite often bumped me up to First Class so the stewies could keep an eye on me. That was nice.
Thanks Lee, you sure had a busy 2 days, well, it looks like you and Martin got stuck into the Guinness after dinner last night, it looked like it ! I enjoyed your flight back home, Take care go easy on the booze tonight 😉 👍 Au
As I'm a Manchester resident there are many cheap and safe places to park your car and they will drop you off at the airport. Or I frequently use a service where i drive to the airport and they pick your car up and return it near your terminal for a reasonable price. My daughter steps outside her house and gets a bus to the airport for £2. Last time i left on an A330 we didn't have to use external steps but i think there is only room for one aircraft
I day seems a waste. To me a minimum stay should increase with distance travelled, I mean you would not go to Australia 12000 miles for just a week end, 4 to 8 weeks would seem ok😎
I did pretty much the same thing back in 2008. American Airlines were doing cheap flights from Stansted, so I flew to JFK on the Saturday, stayed with friends in Brooklyn, and flew back on the Monday. Loved it.
Who on earth goes to New York for just one day? That's crazy.

We flew in to Heathrow from doha in September and we had to use the transfer bus at 7am ... So not only Manchester.
1. Manchester airport is class
2. You love Olive...On the buses.
3. Go back to Malaga city stunning.
I'm drinking a glass of wine watching you ,I love your sense of humour 👍👍😊🏴

Flew Air Lingus Manchester to New York in April, this year business class. Outstanding brilliant all round👍👏
I once spent 72 hours in Sydney all the way from the UK. Absolutely amazing experience and a beautiful place, Sydney. So I understand your night away in New York!! Life is too short. Glad you are enjoying life and love your videos. Thank you for sharing.
I like the 2-4-2 layout. Much better than 3-3-3 I like Aer lingus
last time i flew into manchester it was with a bunch of lads who used to be mates of mine, one lad had been a complete pain all holiday and i literally had to babysit every issue and problem he had, even when we landed he would not stop moaning.

Thought Neol Phillips was hiding behind the camera on this one dayer 😂😂😂
When you went to Australia last year you did a wake up scene, snoring and talking in your sleep haha....I found that funny...do it again on your next flight
Calling pilots glorified bus drivers is pretty patronising to people who have trained for years & have infinite more responsibility than a bus driver.
It's a bit like calling Lee an "entertainer"!
😂
What about the trolly dollies? Glorified sky waiters…
Truth hurts 🙂
Highly trained people.👍
It’s a bit of banter calm down , it’s like receptionists in a surgery who think there doctors
Not surprised you felt weary after that mega hectic 24 hour jaunt Lee, I was worn out just watching it!! 🤣 Great content as always. 👏👏
You've got a Porsche mid life crisis
We have Fisherman's Friends here in the states for a long time now. I guess you heard that Spirit Airlines filed for bankruptcy. Nice vlog Lee, I hope you are feeling better.
Thoroughly enjoyed this mini adventure, hope you’re fully recovered.
I was sick after my Aer Lingus flight. Came home had a sleep after New York and woke up and was sick. Travel sickness caught up with me
Nice video Lee, on your next plain trip look for a film called Ants on a plain, it’s a great film but you might start itching lol.
Can’t beat a transatlantic flight followed by a bus journey ! Hate it when that happens.

check the wingtip out at 26:32 . What is it?
Looks like the reflection in the window of someone walking down the aisle with a phone - slow it down to .25 and you can make out the screen...
Very interesting Aer Lingus flies non stop from New York JFK to Manchester, Lee. Looks like you are getting a nasty cold. Take good care of yourself with plenty of rest, drink plenty of fluids, and have a nice hot tea with lemon.
$15 a pint for Stella? It's enough to make one give it up. Half as much on board.
I would not pay 15 cents for a pint of that rot gut.
I take it, Lee, that your car started up immediately with no battery charge issues. Nice informative vlog.😊
Hang on a minute lee. You said you got through customs really quickly at Manchester Airport a while a go and said shame on Heathrow and how they should take note from Manchester. I am very confused now 😕. I gather different terminals are better or worse.
Different terminal. x

It was fantastic mate and to see Martin again now onwards back to Manchester my friend let's go ✈️
I enjoyed your JFK T7 moaning tour .🤣👍
That Muffin on the flight home and no air bridge on arrival at MAN I can see why your spirit seems crushed .😃
A scheduled airline parking up on remote where you have to get off onto a bus usually means that there has been a problem with the aircraft and needs to be checked by ground maintenance. I hope this helps
Hi lee great video good footage sorry u not feeling well maybe all them beers with the silver fox😂😂
Flew from Terminal 7 JFK a few times in the past, as it used to be the BA terminal, but they fly from T8 now. Looks like is been refurbished since I was last in T7 though. Onwards. 😎
I think there is a huge difference between an airline pilot compared to a bus driver😆
I hope youre feeling better Lee. As someone from Manchester i would advise you to avoid Manchester airport. 😀
Sadly Lee, as a resident of the Greater Manchester area, the trials and tribulations of Manchester airport are only to familiar.
Did you mean to put sadlee?
You love a good travel vlog Mac 😎
Lee you're on a role lol upsetting Liverpool now Manchester 😂
A Trolly a £1, at least Dick Turpin wore a mask and a muffin for breakfast 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 they go all out on air Lingus for there passengers 🤣🤣🤣Hope you feel better Lee 👍

Great video, I hate people who think they're on the apprentice while talking on their phones. 😅😅
you had to leave the plane via steps because of the new pier being built-in and around T2
Cracking breakfast 😂😂

Yay another flight video 😊
I live in Minnesota, but from the UK. Was that a bar you passed? And to be fair Manchester airport isn't too bad. Try flying in or out of Philadelphia
I thought Philly was better. I had no issues with Philly.
Aer Lingus is pretty good. Better to book direct. There are Xmas trees in hotels in England in November. it's nice. They even sell mince pies in November. Why are you whining about Manchester airport? We’ve flown in there a couple times in the past 2 years and it’s a whole lot easier to deal with than LHR. No contest really. Yes, I thought Lee had praised Manchester Airport on previous flights for the very quick security.
Diferent Terminal
@ Been in both and they are both fine. Nothing fancy but they do the job well. LHR can be a nightmare.
Heathrow can have the steps and bus gates too!
Up the North! 😝😝
I love Olives Lee,but cracked up when you called them The Devil's Haemoroids.
I can't stand em lol

What do you think of the UAP congressional hearings and have you seen any in your numerous travels😂?
Aer Lingus is not an Irish carrier anymore basically part of British Airways now Aer Lingus staff are always friendly but over the last few years the standards have dropped abit especially the food.
Like British Airways they’re now a budget airline with premium prices.
I have flown so much on so many different airlines I couldn’t name them all. I do remember this Airline though. I used them in 2009. They were the cheapest worst airline I have ever utilized and it isn’t even close. I see why they got bought out, they were horrible at what they attempted to do.
They’ve always been dreadful, the Temu of airlines
Cunning Aer Lingus tried to sell me an upgrade for more than the cost of business class if I booked myself. I told them I'm no twat.
I hope you get some rest and feel better once you get back home ❤️🏡

How’s there 1970’s computer doing; apparently everything gets through that system, even these days 😅
Very nice people, very old hardware and UI.
It was a bit like driving a Model T.

Oh no Lee - you take it easy mate. Hope you feel better soon. Can’t help but think your voice loss is karma for shouting at Silver Fox 😂

I cant remember the last time I had to use steps at T2, which in my opinion is far better than T1, probably because its the one I'm most used to travelling via. Airports are a scam far too expensive for food drinks, even the duty-free now changing charging for trolleys it's a rip off
Thanks Lee, you sure had a busy 2 days, well, it looks like you and Martin got stuck into the Guinness after dinner last night, it looked like it ! I enjoyed your flight back home, Take care go easy on the booze tonight 😉 👍 Au

Next time you fly Lee, use valet parking. It isn’t that expensive and saves all that farting about in buses.
And gives the local taxi drivers a break from using their own cars
I wouldn’t. I worked for Manchester airport and saw all the compensation claims they paid for damage to customers cars.
I day seems a waste.
