Hey Dude, I just want to say Im really enjoying your videos and I feel like Im learning a lot. Its cool we both share a passion for top and songwriting. I feel like you might like the lyrics from this song I wrote a few years ago (top inspired). I couldnt find your email anywhere to send it to you privately so I will just link it in this comment. ruclips.net/video/nIbzzmG5XGU/видео.html
A thing that I really noticed is that Tylers rap-parts are less rap and more poetry slam. I thought about it since te rap from HeavyDirtySoul was featured in a street poetry video from Rocksound. So I looked into other rap parts and they all check out as slam poetry. The rhyming, the coming back to repetition lines, the unrapable lines, it all makes sense if you put it in the concept of poetry slam. A thing that I think really makes twenty one pilots songs good is that Tyler never pretends in his songs. If he writes about something it's because it's keeping him up at night, not because someone said it's popular to write about it.
The Anna While not being what could be considered "stereotypical" rap, what Tyler does is still very much rapping. As rap is an acronym for rythmn and poetry, his lyrics are still considered rap. And furthermore, while some artists that release more mainstream music do it for money, you have to accept that none of the people that made it big started out thinking "Oh, I'm going to make loads dojng this." Their goal was to share music with the world, the same as Tyler. And many could argue that their lyrics are just as meaningful, as everyone interprets things differently. Someone who struggles with depression might lean more towards twenty one pilots, whereas someone else might listen to something else because it's meaningful to them. I can think of a multitude of mainstream artists that write from the heart. And the topics Tyler sings about are popular topics, otherwise they wouldn't have gained so much support. Of course, he doesn't choose to sing because he knows they're an apparent subject, but accept that all successful artists do have a popular aspect to their music, or it wouldn't be...popular. Don't be so quick to generalize.
If I had the money I'd totally take your class out of curiosity. And the more I think about it the more I wanna but 1. there is no international payment option and 2. if I have learned anything it is that if confronted with good songwriting I'll just give up on music all together and with the frequency my 4 am breakdowns recently have, I don't think I could afford that
Just in case anyone else reads this, there is an international payment option. Don't worry! :) You just have to type your postal code in for the zip code. Or email me at clifford@popsongprofessor.com. :)
Actual Storm that is kinda true but she never said that other ppl write about popular stuff, she just said that tyler (and josh idk does he make lyrics too) doesn't write about popular stuff

"sick as frick raps" SO SICK!! Btw I'm glad I watched this video because it showed the Tim not the only one who noiced these things. These guys mean so much to me ugh
You Know, I Actually Have Noticed Most Of This Stuff So This Is Really Good To Know. I've Always Loved T∅P Because Of Their Lyrics. If You Listen Carefully, You'll Be Able To Hear Someone That's Gone Through Things That You Have Too. It's Always Great To Know You're Not Alone. T∅P Is A Great Band That Truly Speaks To You. I Truly Enjoyed This Video!! Great Job!!
Even tho this is from two years ago this course really helps. I signed up for a songwriting group where at the end of the season we preform our songs and I’m so excited to learn how to connect with the audience while also giving out a meaningful message :)
UM EXCUSE ME? REGIONAL AT BEST IS ART. IT'S GOLD. IT'S TØP'S BEST WORK HANDS DOWN. IT IS NOT SIMILAR TO VESSEL ASIDE FROM THE REMADE SONGS. I AM OFFENDED AND DEEPLY SADDENED BY THIS CATASTROPHE!
This was just such an incredible video guy! I found your channel after scaled and icy dropped. And I'm so glad that I did. Your content isn't just informative but I just enjoy listening to the way you talk about things. You seem like a legit dude. I'm subscribed for sure.
this explains why vessel is my favorite album. its like a perfect mix of the more poppy blurryface style but also has a lot of the deep more emotional subjects that self titled brings.
"Theres so little thinking in mainstream music" I agree so much that's why I hate mainstream music but just cuz tøp is gaining popularity doesnt mean they arent as awesome
Love this! TøP is one of my favorite bands, i discovered them when they open a concert for Paramore in Mexico City, and the crowd went crazy with them jaja. House of gold is one of my favorites
I don't know if this is relevant to the video but to me, twenty one pilots's songs gives me this message of a beginning of realization. It's not exactly forcing positivity, telling you to believe in yourself, to be happy (those are great messages but they are too hard for a depressed person). It's more like a slight twist to how we think, which makes us start to think about stuff that keeps us alive before ending our lives. Their songs are like seeds and they plant the seeds in the fan's hearts, and the fans can water the seed, fertilize the seed when they are prepared enough to do so, and the grown plant is when we stay alive and stop being suicidal. They don't just give us the plant right away. They give us the seed and leave it for us to grow it. Which I think is a better way to wake the fans up from nightmares. Some examples that clearly tells this beginning of realization thing (at least I think): -maybe defeating them (your demons) could be the *beginning* of your meaning, friend [Kitchen Sink] (defeating, meaning at least we won't believe in the false words of the devil) -let's take this a second at a time [Guns for Hands] ... together let's breathe (breathing is the beginning of staying alive) -stay alive (not stay happy, stay positive, but just the simplest of all: to stay alive) [many songs] -I want to say... hello [Trees] (hello is a simple word, and we can break the isolation by this simple word. It's just a "hello", it doesn't have to be a "hey what you up to let's go party", which is easier for ppl to step outside of their own mind) ok that was long. But forgive me for putting that here... pls note that that is my own interpretation including how I described the song lyrics... Actually does that even make sense?! the whole beginning of realization thing?!
It looks like you really spent a lot of time on this. I'm really impressed. I'm also glad you were able to create statistics and weren't just going off of your opinions. Thanks for this video!!
The Pop Song Professor would it be possible if you could put the how to write songs like twenty one pilots lessons on iTunes or your podcast or RUclips?
TyJo said that blurryface was the way it was so they could attract more fans. He also said that the next album would be more experimental like self titled.
Totally signing up. I've wanted to write songs forever but have struggled and I really hope one day to make it in the music industry. I hope your course helps!
He said songs like forest were super fan songs and then I remembered the second song I ever really got into by them was forest, after car radio. I realized then that regional at best is probably my favorite album
Man, I'd love to see your analysis on Karmin/Qveen Herby. Amy and Nick are so versatile in my opinion, and a lot of the lyrics they write are not only catchy and hooky, but sometimes also insanely relatable. They're a clever duo, I think.
I love blurryface because it was their most mainstream album, but it's also a criticism on mainstream music and how they have to act a certain way to make music that is popular
At first I thought this was going to be a joke video but man was I wrong. I really appreciate this video bc it feels like you can understand an artist better when looking deep into their music

I think it’s worth noting that for this next album Tyler said he wanted to return to the way he wrote lyrics for self titled.
I will analyze it and let you know if he succeeded.

I really love the Blurryface drawing! 😂

I know it's a long song and a lot to analyse but "Jesus of Suburbia" by Green Day would be super cool. It's a modern-day anthem. :)
I anaylised Jesus of Suburbia with my son for homeschool, it’s genius.
Just found this, heard the guy say he liked twenty one pilots, and instantly subscribed. (:
You're going to like this channel.

Hey be concerned

Ah, I see. Well, I hope everything turned out all right! :)
I Think self titled sounds more depressing. So i thought the lyrics are darker than vessel. Vessel sounds like party for me. Huh thats interesting!
Oh, interesting. I don't know if I touched on this in the video, but, yeah, ST is kind of depressing in places.

-let's take this a second at a time [Guns for Hands] ... together let's breathe (breathing is the beginning of staying alive)
-stay alive (not stay happy, stay positive, but just the simplest of all: to stay alive) [many songs]
-I want to say... hello [Trees] (hello is a simple word, and we can break the isolation by this simple word. It's just a "hello", it doesn't have to be a "hey what you up to let's go party", which is easier for ppl to step outside of their own mind)
ok that was long. But forgive me for putting that here... pls note that that is my own interpretation including how I described the song lyrics... Actually does that even make sense?! the whole beginning of realization thing?!
I love this course I hope I get better by the end!! Thanks for doing this course
I was thinking the whole time “where is trench?” it’s because it was posted 2 years ago. and that’s on being a trench clikkie 😳

It looks like you really spent a lot of time on this. I'm really impressed. I'm also glad you were able to create statistics and weren't just going off of your opinions. Thanks for this video!!
Haha! Thanks! Yes, I made so. many. statistics.

The Pop Song Professor would it be possible if you could put the how to write songs like twenty one pilots lessons on iTunes or your podcast or RUclips?

Taxi Can yes pro spelling fren xD (that sounds like something I would accidentally type tbh)
TyJo said that blurryface was the way it was so they could attract more fans. He also said that the next album would be more experimental like self titled.

Totally signing up. I've wanted to write songs forever but have struggled and I really hope one day to make it in the music industry. I hope your course helps!
So glad to hear it, man! And it was good to get your email yesterday. Be sure to let me know how it goes.
The Pop Song Professor It's going great--I finished two lessons last night. I am super happy with it. Thanks again for making it!
@@piratesparrow was it worth?
I wanna see if I should get the class
@@Dylan-wc4lw absolutely 100%%
@@piratesparrow did it help with your writing at all?
He said songs like forest were super fan songs and then I remembered the second song I ever really got into by them was forest, after car radio. I realized then that regional at best is probably my favorite album
Man, I'd love to see your analysis on Karmin/Qveen Herby. Amy and Nick are so versatile in my opinion, and a lot of the lyrics they write are not only catchy and hooky, but sometimes also insanely relatable. They're a clever duo, I think.
this was SO INTERESTING, great video!!!
I love blurryface because it was their most mainstream album, but it's also a criticism on mainstream music and how they have to act a certain way to make music that is popular
CLIQUE WHERE U AT
They're literally all over this channel. I feel like I opened up an orphanage for lost clique members. :)

WHEN I WAS STRESSED OUT
At first I thought this was going to be a joke video but man was I wrong. I really appreciate this video bc it feels like you can understand an artist better when looking deep into their music
This is actually really interesting! I love statistics and I've always been intrigued by their lyrics.
Sick!
As frick?
The Pop Song Professor Yes, as frick
Am I the only one wondering why he didn’t use No Phun Intended for anything? Like did he not know about that album or what??
And that’s why this is my favorite band. Now bad, not amazingly good, but only the best, band of all time.
Ruby and Forest are my 2 favorite songs and you named both of them by their selves lol😂
