Kind of hard to imagine one of the most successful drag queens having financial trouble but I guess everyone is going through something you know nothing about.
Trixie talking about losing weight because of a negative reason and people commenting was so relatable. In college I lost 15 pounds in 3-4 months due to anxiety. People kept complementing me on how skinny I was, especially my mom. I started replying with, thanks but it’s from social anxiety and being so scared to eat alone. I look back and like how small I was but think about how I got there and it sickens me. I never want to be that small due to social anxiety or due to mental health.
Anxiety completely obliterated my appetite
I hate that people think telling someone they're skinny is a compliment. In 2021 I lost 70 lbs in 6 months from a brutal eating disorder and I got an insane amount of compliments. When I'd say it's because I'm struggling with an eating disorder, I'd get "omg you're so lucky I could never stop eating". I get people mean well, but I wish the stigma around this would change. In reality, these comments fuel the beast.
So, so tired of folks feeling entitled to pass judgement or commentary of any kind on other's sizes, especially when it's friends and family. Proud of you for being honest about that 🩹❤

The thinnest I've ever been was when I was in active addiction. All anyone talked about was how "great" I looked. Like, for real? I looked terrible. I almost died of a heart attack, but hey, I was a size 6 so that's all that matters. I'd rather be thick and healthy.

People complimenting or even commenting on weightloss is so destructive and it's not discussed enough.
I've had active anorexia at several points in my life and every time somone commented on my weight loss, whether they were complimenting me or were worried about how thin I was getting, it spurred me on to lose more.
Isn't it wild how oddly acceptable it is for people to say things like "you need a cheeseburger" with no knowledge as to what is even going on. OR when you start gaining weight, how comfortable people are saying "you gained weight" "you look different" "you look healthy" and think they are coming from the most genuine place ever. Truly. I just went from 85lbs to 105lbs and my weight has become the biggest topic of conversation - with my family, my coworkers, my fiancé & his family, etc & then I realized, it always has been!
it reminds you that yes, people are looking. it validates the paranoia of being judged.
It's truly a weird ass thing and especially if you just go to a random fat person's reel that somehow accidentally went viral, the amount of violent abuse in the comments makes me think "these cannot be real people, because how can a human write this much vile things towards a person that they don't even know"

As a gay women I totally get what they mean about Naomi, beautiful women hold a powerful presence in any room they walk into but to literally take up more space with that beauty is awe inspiring and slightly intimidating. I dropped weight like crazy when I got diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. Everyone was like “omg girl you look great what’s your secret?!” And I was like “thanks my body is literally eating away at itself because my intestines are so fucked they can’t pull anything from the food I eat”
I got cancer ages ago and lost 50 pounds. Even with that, I was still fat, but definitely less fat. EVERYONE kept telling me how healthy I looked, and it was so ironic and maddening...

That isn't true. My Mum is rather thin and has been neglected by doctors when her life was on the line because they believed she was just being difficult regarding her "eatig disorder" which she does not have. I have to accompany her to appoinemnts because if someone else does not speak for her, they do not believe her. As someone who has been fat and is still on the heavier side, the things I have heard others say to my Mum makes the bullying I went through look like Heaven. She once took a taxi home only for the taxi driver to quiz her on her weight, calling her disgusting and comparing her to a walking corpse. She hasn't been back inside a taxi since. It is terrible for either side and I am so tired of skinny people being treated as if they have it any better.

The reason I feel like this show works so much is because Trixie and Katya are so open and honest with their addiction and illness struggles is so relatable.

to be honest i relate to gypsy rose a LOT since i grew up with a mom who had extreme paranoia, schizophrenia, and alchoholism issues, which caused me to miss half of second grade, half of third grade, the entirety of forth grade, half of fifth grade, and chunks of first grade (keep in mind i have no siblings or family really so i pretty much just stayed inside all day every day watching my mom and step dad drink, scream at eachother, shit like that) so simple experiences like playing with your neighbours, playing with other kids in the rain, family reunions, general family dinner, stuff like that is pretty much forren to me
From personal experience, I have worked almost every day since I was 17 years old and had to be off work for 2 months due to spine surgery and I can say that coming back to work was the absolute worst 😭 it just made me think that was exactly how life should be, not rushed and overworked every day!!!! Enjoy enjoy enjoy your time off and when you come back, go at your own pace and remember to take time off when you can! 💖
