I have this and love it. The two things I suggest to everybody that gets this is to put grease in the differentials. Also get yourself a set of oil filled shocks.
@@tonyynot484 I thought the cups were metal. I'll have to look. As for the differential I have no idea since I've never taken it apart but my guess is they are metal with a plastic spur. For some reason these cheaper cars use plastic spur gears and metal diffs and pinion. I'm not sure why.
Like #16! HBX models tend to have weak ranged transmitters for some reason but surprisingly, their sister company has much better range! Usually the same protocol.. Try it with a GPTOYS transmitter! 👌🏽

Was that the Q903? I didn't have any noticeable range issues with it but the HBX's range is really poor which is a shame because it is a really nice truck otherwise $64 for a RTR brushless truck is phenomenal!
Yes, the Q903 only got about 20 meters (or less)!!! I've been meaning to take a closer look inside to see what's going on with the antenna but haven't gotten around to it yet. My guess is the antenna isn't fully extended...
@@DJSOULFORCE thats very possible. My Q903 had no range issues. I know the HBX transmitter sucks so I need to open up mine. John's throttle lever tensioner broke so he had to open it up and reattach the spring.
So... This truck or the Xinlehong 9125? The 9125 looks like more durable (metal shafts, some metal underneath the car and comes with a LiPo). I like this HBX because looks so much better, has a wheelie bar and led lights... And it's brushless instead of having two brushed motors.
The HBX all the way because it is brushless. Xinglehong are also really good but I've bashed the heck out of the HBX and haven't busted a thing. No, the RX is fine because I get good range when I use the HBX Ground Crusher TX. I had the same range issues with the SG 1602 which is a rebranded 16889.
Yes this is an excellent starter car because it is cheap, brushless and well built. It is an ideal beginner's car. You can get it for cheap using the coupon and link in the video description.
This is fine. Get rid of the esc/receiver combo. Replace it with a separate receiver with new transmitter and replace the esc to a true 60a so that you can run 2-3s. Also, replace the servo with a 3 wire servo and you'll have a blast.
@@donfumar4572 pinecone model sells it also but they all have horrible range though some are better than others. I use an older HBX controller from my Ground Crusher and have much better range now.

The controller range is definitely NOT my batteries. Other people have the same problem but I have no range issues using my Ground Crusher's controller.
@@RDsRCReviews I think the chinese one is a bit shorter (270mm compared to 360mm). But the design of the parts (body and internals to some extent) it looks very similar. The hpi one has a couple of dust covers and lacks the wheely bar. Other than that both are similar. The HBX is not as fast and smaller but offers a far better value for the prize. Also batteries and the charger are inculded. That's why the HBX is better for beginner, the hpi one is more suited towars people with a larger budget and more expetations towards speed and handling
The batteries aren't the issue. The controller says the batteries are fine and if you watch my review of the SG version you'll see it has the same poor range. The controllers are terrible. I'm going to be upgrading it soon to a new Dumbo RC TX/RX and oil filled shocks.

Yep, oil filled shocks make a massive difference. I did that upgrade and made a video on it.

I just bought the DEERC 16889 from Amazon $70. I think it’s the brushed version. Decided to by myself an RC after 30 years.
Get you the brushless motor set up Will be faster and last longer don't like the brushed motor go with brushless you will luv the power it will have

Any small 2s lipo will work. Try eBay or even Amazon.
