Thank you for these vlogs. I am enjoying this series. I read," Reminders of Him," as well. That book definitely pulls on emotional strings, ethics and perspectives. I was looking at through the legal lense so it was hard for me to emphasize with the lead character. It is interesting that Colleen Hoover parallels two different forms of losing children death/ alongside legal separation. She definitely has a way of putting ugly situations under a microscope and taking the reader in past their comfort zones. Sometimes it works for me. I was one of those who actually enjoyed Verity. Glad you enjoyed another pick from the TBR, you are on a roll so far💜💜💜
That was my first Colleen Hoover book I read. I forgot about it until you started talking about it. I really like her writing but I’ve only read two over her books.
I’m not a fan of C Hoover based on what I’ve heard on RUclips. I would have read that plot by another author, like Sally Hepworth. Let us know what your friend said about it.
Yay for an all-consuming book to take your mind off the craziness of life, like a hard parenting day! I question how realistic the mom getting all her parental rights taken away is in reality. Given that it was involuntary, and having worked in the Pediatric ICU for 6 years and the NICU for 11 years (lot of DCF and law enforcement involvement, court cases, etc over the years), I feel skeptical that she wouldn’t be able to get at least visitation or partial rights back upon release, as long as she served her time with good behavior. That’s why I can’t read these kinds of books. 🤣 I have the same problem with TV shows. I about died trying to watch Chicago Med many years ago. 🤣
This is the only Colleen Hoover book I was interested in reading and I kind of have to disagree. Maybe because I’m sort of a grudge holder but I’m not sure I could be any different if I was in those parents situation? Maybe I’d let it go if he had lived and was like seriously injured? But I don’t think I could look past it and be kumbaya if my kid died and she left him there? I am glad for her daughter’s sake that they embraced her but I’d have also been fine if it hadn’t worked out. It would have been a realistic end.
It’s such a tough situation. From the parents perspective, I get being so angry you can’t let go. But from a traumatized teens perspective, I have no idea if I’d do the right thing in that situation. I love the ethical confusion haha
@@AlwaysBookedoh sure! I’m not saying I have no empathy for her. I just don’t think I expect them to be nice to her. Do I think it’s good they came around? Yeah. Would I blame them if they never did? Jot really. It’s a consequence of the split second choice she made and consequences can suck.
It’s awesome that you are enjoying so many of the reads this year so far!
Yea! It’s been fun!

Thank YOU for watching these vlogs!
I agree. I feel like her and Jodi picoult, while very different, both make me think so much!

I’m hoping to get her on a live show!

Ooh good point. And if she did get complete rights taken, it would be a hard sell to make her a likable character
