I'm so bummed that JOCO got rid of their permanent stores - there was one on 151st and one up by Ikea. I've been to their Saturday warehouse sales several times but it's a little cramped in there - one time I actually had to wait to go in because they were at max capacity for their building lol (which is like 20-25 people). II'll have to check out the store in Olathe.

Don't feel bad about DNFing a book. Not every book is for every reader. I have DNFd a ton this year! No shame.😊

My county used to offer a free Ecard to anyone but then it was broadcasted all over social media sites and everyone got one. The people who lived in my county and paid taxes for their library then couldn’t get ebooks or audiobooks in a reasonable amount of time due to everyone else checking them out ….so my county stopped offering it. Las Vegas did the same thing. I pay for a few cards and it’s well worth the small cost for an annual membership.

I heard someone say it's like tasting food that isn't cooked well or you don't enjoy and then cringing with every bit say, that is so disgusting. The S.T. Abby series to me can only really be enjoyed as a binge read of the whole series. To me it was kind of like Dexter the TV show mixed with The Count of Monte Cristo. You would definitely have to be Okay with some Dead Pool level language. There is some on page intimacy, but by and far way more violence. Definitely not for everyone, everyone has to pick their poison and read within their comfort levels. My eyes grew big when you drew that pick😅. 💜💜💜

I struggle with fantasy too. And I’m a big DNF advocate so no negativity here! 🤗

I have this one, and really need to read it. In a cuddler, however, my hubby is like white on rice! If I move over, he's right back to being pressed into me. When We had a waterbed I remember days of waking up and having an indention of the wood frame on my face 😂.

It was an interesting read. I was more into the past than the present, there was something about the teacher I wasn't too hip on, but I did enjoy the history and digging down the rabbit hole.

Not the biggest YA thriller book, but I really did enjoy this one. I never read the others though, I need to though. It was well written.

When you did the first book reveal I screamed, “ That’s definitely not a Chloe book” 🙀😂❤️. Life is too short to read a book you aren’t enjoying.

Oh my goodness! The MindF series blew up a couple years ago and I won’t even try them. I also thing they’re very dark. Do not at all think you would enjoy!! ❤

This is my first time hearing about Legendborn. I have never read Fantasy books so I don’t have any interest in reading it. I also have never heard of the first book you mentioned it is on Kindle Unlimited but I don’t know anything about it.

For me, breaking into a little bit of fantasy reading required print or even print/audio simultaneously - I don't know what all the lingo is but I let it wash over me and kind of float along. I've never read high epic fantasy but this lighter option has become something I enjoy.

I DNF alot. I've DNF'd books that many people in the cozy mystery circle have loved simply because it wasn't working for me. I go by how I feel not by how other readers feel. Life is too short and there are too many books out there to read a book that isn't working for me. Also, I always feel like if I don't DNF the book that isn't working for me than I'm wasting time that I could be spending on reading a book that is perfect for me. Personally, I like to grow in my comfort zone because my comfort zone has a correlation with my values. So I read cozy mysteries because they aren't explicit. If I read a different genre like a romance, I pick one that isn't explicit. I'm still trying a new genre but in a way that works for me. Just my two cents.

❤📚📚❤️ I'm glad you at least gave it a try. 😊 My favorite genre is fantasy, and Legendborn is on my tbr. But, I love most genres and really mix up my monthly reads. Historical fiction is my second favorite. The most important thing is enjoying what we're reading!! I dnf more now than I used to. So, many good books!

I would consider this a success! You tried it, it wasn't for you so move on. I hate feeling pressured into something I know I won't enjoy. 😊

I think we should not feel bad for dnfing a book. We know what content we will and won’t read and shouldn’t force ourselves to suffer through content that we don’t enjoy. Just because it’s something that you choose to dnf doesn’t mean someone else won’t love it. 👏👏

I’m with you and don’t care for fantasy. You have to really be into “world building” and I’m not. I think I object to words being used for every day things. Like a whole set of currency. It’s like being in a foreign country and having to learn the language as well as understand what’s going on. Your friend may like fantasy. I would like to hear her discuss this book if she has read it.i think you gave it a fair shake. Yay for the DNF.

No idea what made it work again! All I did was upload a long video. No idea if that made a difference but I’m enjoying it while it lasts! I got videos to make!!

By the way, I did watch 2 years worth of vlogmas videos that you did and it’s wild!! I mean… you just had your 4th kid and I watched the journey with the third one! On another note, you seem to be in to more books I like now vs then. I only found a couple books I was interested in reading.

This is the only Colleen Hoover book I was interested in reading and I kind of have to disagree. Maybe because I’m sort of a grudge holder but I’m not sure I could be any different if I was in those parents situation? Maybe I’d let it go if he had lived and was like seriously injured? But I don’t think I could look past it and be kumbaya if my kid died and she left him there? I am glad for her daughter’s sake that they embraced her but I’d have also been fine if it hadn’t worked out. It would have been a realistic end.

I found the Christmas tree book interresting because we never were allowed to have them. Dad refused to do anything I couldn’t participate In and I can’t see the lights so they refused to put up a tree. My dad would have lost his mind if my brother brought one home! And no. I don’t agree with it. The book you were talking about just made me think of it.

Oooh, airports are the absolute best for people watching! Although I would say less so now then when I was a kid since so many people are glued to their devices. As a kid of divorced parents and having had to relocate due to job transfer, I flew solo from the time I was 6. (Although I loved it, I cannot imagine my child having to do that. 😱) At any rate, the art and love of people watching was born early for me! 😂 As much as I love a good Christmas trope for a movie plot, I usually don’t like to read about them in a modern-day setting. I think since reading is such an escape for me, I tend to not enjoy books that remind me of current-life drama. If emailing, texting, Instagramming, ticktocking, or Facebooking is mentioned, your girl’s usually out!! 🤣 There are exceptions to that, but usually only a couple a year.
