All players including the player who rolled can choose to not take the white dice. If the player who rolled does not take the white dice, they must take one of the colored dice along with adding it to one of the white dice. The player who rolled can also choose to take the white dice AND a colored die with a white die. But cannot skip both. Hope that answers it for you. Sorry took me so long to reply.
