Even the Vargas fights, the Collazo fight, the first Mayorga fight, he even got tagged against Mora. Shane didn't really have great defense he was just super fast the first part of his career.

When he went up to 154 he was much slower... When you have a fight of that magnitude on the line with networks blocking the dates off, stadiums blocking the dates off, hotels and flights adjusting their prices and fans spending money, promoters setting up the undercard and THOSE fighters banking on the payday, sparring partners setting aside time away from their families who need to be paid, trainers who take time away from their families who need to be paid, along with the nutritionist and strength and conditioning coaches, and on top of that the fighter has to make money too... Then you see why fighters fight sick and injured. It's not as easy as it is for you. You can just call in to work and say, "Hey I can't make it today..". A fighter at Shane's level simply can't just do that. So next time you hear a fighter give you context as to why they didn't perform at their optimum level, listen.
