mmmm I was wondering if I could have a permanent outside terrarium? I live in FL Miami there is plenty of sun. could I still need the bulbs and if so I am willing to put the bulbs but is it still not good to have em outside?
Yes its called winter hibernation, Bartl is not eating anything, he might show up one in while but is then hiding and sleeping into his cave. What life! :-)
No I think this should be fine, you can keep him outdoor. Some beardis making a winter hibernation. Like mine is "sleeping" 5 months. So I dont need sun nor bulbs during this time.
I am serving mine everyday fresh salad, carotts, and fresh fuits like strawberries. Every second or third day Batls gests some clickets or grashoppers.
Please be aware that this outdoor vivarium was just a temporary one for one summer. Bartl is now living in a nice big professional built outdoor terrarium as shown in a different video.
This was my first try and i simple bought it from amazon. Just try to search for "Screen terrarium", but it was not very good as du to the direct sunlight the plastic frame "melted" away. That's why i build a new one wooden frame and metal screen.
@dave8594 During summer when the weather is hot enough he stays for a couple of hours in this outdoor terrarium. The rest of his time he is spending his time in his indoor terrarium or also in our vacation place. I have added both videos as video link to this one. But I have a plan arlready for next summer to build a bigger outdoor terrarium so he can stay longer outside.
You can leave him out as long as you like if the bearded dragon 1) can hide from the sun within the cage (shadow) 2) the air temperature is above 23 Degree Celsius 3) some food supply I keep mine usally not more than 4 hours in the outdoor cage. Please note that I no longer have this small outdoot cage now i have a much bigger one.
Very kool

Your leatherback is gorgeous. Wish I lived in a high temperature city so my leatherback could run around in the sun. Stupid Raincouver.

Australia was close, I live in Austria (Europe). Bartl is only couple of hours i.e. 10am-3pm outside and only on sunny days.

Where did you get the screen enclosure - or did you make it?
