Edge stoles all private data from Chrome and it's neverending launch of search bar, that cannot be disabled, became the last straw. For me there were no options to delete it with cmd, powershell or any other way. This worked. Thanks.

well, this doesn't work anymore. When I tried ending the webview process tree, they just kept coming back and then wouldn't go away at all. So edge spyware is still on your computer no matter what you do. Might be time to consider going to linux.
I turn on my pc, edge opens 20 processes and refuses to let me close them. Every time I end process via task manager, it makes more. Literal virus ransomware

@@joesmith942 I am no computer guru but try updating if you have not maybe you already deleted it from trying recently and part of its removed I tried alot and gave up it came back and hijacked me with updates later and drove me insane eventually. hope it might help you so far its gone for me keep trying this works nothing else has so far

@@TheSlayerDude I added the statement to the registry and it worked just fine. BUT...a month ago, it came back. I got rid of it, and it came back after a couple of weeks. I haven't tried to get rid of it again. There is a class action suit over this; frankly until the law tells MS to get lost, they are going to have their spy team on this. It's very annoying.

I went ahead and created the new folder anyway. I assumed it wouldn't hurt if it isn't actually needed. I haven't restarted my PC yet but I did make a save point with system restore before doing all of this. But hopefully, it'll work and MS Edge will fall OVER the edge! MWHAHAHAHAHAH
oh, I also went to services.msc (from search box) and found 3 MS edge entries that I set to DISABLED so they wouldn't try to start upon booting my PC. Not sure they would work anyway but I did that as well as all the stuff in this vid. So, hopefully.... MicroFlaccid will not be on my PC nor will Windows be popping up a non-closable window asking me to set Edge as my default browser. Thank Satan for the Internet which, for the time being, still exists.

Can you uninstall Microsoft edge you just have to do it for the registry editor and then you will be able to uninstall it and that’s from a uk guy reg key Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Microsoft Edge And then in that look for no remove and change 1 to 0

What about Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime? Isn't that just going to reinstall Edge? I'm not tech-savvy at all, but this seems like an insane number of steps to simply prevent an unwanted program from reinstalling itself - unbelievable!
I HAVE A QUESTION. I got all the way to the end and couldn't delete some of the files, so I added _disable to the Microsoft Edge file and finally a grid came up, with a green line through it, and it has been recycling it for hours and hours now. In other words, the computer is still running this recycling thing to disable the final Microsoft Edge stuff. Has this happened to anyone else. I am not sure what to do. I inadvertently stopped this process several times, but started it again and I am just letting it run and run. Is this an error of some kind?
I didn't have the same issue, but after doing this, I can't go on like he says to, I find the gpedit and the gpedit group policy but I CANNOT click it to open or do anything with those options as he instructs, but I guess I'll post this comment at the top and see if anyone else is having any issues or if its a problem.... I don't know, but as far as your box continuously running,, and obviously its been a minute, but if it didn't remove EDGE, I'd start over and repeat the steps IF you've not already, again. its been a few months. good luck!
I will note that the gpedit step did not work for me, edit group policy did not show up as an option. Nor the final option in registry editor, in the video he doesnt have an Edge folder, but I do.
I have some software that uses edge view so I cant delete all files. I did find a fix I renamed the Microsoft updater file in x86 and it has not come back. It relly annoys me that Microsoft wont let yoou uninstall Edge. I suspect that there is a sinister motive behind it.

A month and a half ago I used this technique and it worked perfectly, but now edge has just appeared again, I did this tutorial again, but apparently some folders or files are duplicated and I can not delete them, I do not know what is the point of microsoft in protecting this browser so much to avoid deleting it.

As I was following along, I realized after forcing uninstall of Microsoft Edge with Wise uninstall, then restarting the computer (because the Icon was still present); not only is the Edge icon still on the desktop, but after going back deleting the Microsoft edge webview2 runtime app, and Microsoft edge metro app (with Wise Uninstaller), the icons are still present on my windows 10 desktop and taskbar while no longer showing it on the Wise Uninstall app. When I click the Wise Cleaner in the top right corner of the Wise Program Uninstaller app screen, it opens the web page with Microsoft Edge. Should I continue the process in the video at this point to actually remove it?? Seriously asking.
I continued with the steps in the video. Because I have Windows 10 Home edition instead of group editor had to go to Task Manager>Startup>then find and right click Msedge> then click disable. About to restart to see I the icons are gone.

Fingers crossed this will work. Have been trying for years. I have a few questions. Not all the steps worked. @tech Gene When trying to open gpeditior my pc couldn't find it so i skipped that step. Then later in the folder system apps i could not delete the folder named Microsoft.MicrosoftEdgeDevToolsClient_8wekyb3d8bbwe. Renaming it with delete did not work. What do i do? Then in the last steps in task scheduler i did not have any edge related running, and in reg editor you created a new folder/key named Edge. But i did have that folder there so i created one within edge folder named Edgeupdate like you said. Is that correct. Then you named the new key donotuptadewithchromium. But my browser is brave. should i then name the key to donotuptadewithbrave instead? A bit confusing :/
Please try this. It's very simple: Go into Windows (C:), then Program Files (x86) and look for the 'Microsoft' folder. Open it up (you'll find all the Edge stuff in there) and delete the lot. Then go back one step and delete the 'Microsoft' folder too. Then empty the lot from your Recycle Bin and restart your computer. If Edge is still infecting your computer, I've successfully used a free programme called 'IObit Uninstaller' (hunt on Google) to remove it, but it only lasts until Mr G sneaks it back in again. Deleting his folder works for a lot longer. I hope this helps.
I've seen people saying that by removing edge you can damage other core functions of the operating system. Is that true? And will this cause any future issues with updates and such?

You explain what to do if Edge doesn't show up in the registry but what if it does? Do you still follow the step to add the edge update?
That's what I ran into. I did it as if I couldn't find it, added to the registry the DONOT statement, as instructed here. Think it should work.

Then in the last steps in task scheduler i did not have any edge related running, and in reg editor you created a new folder/key named Edge. But i did have that folder there so i created one within edge folder named Edgeupdate like you said. Is that correct.
Then you named the new key donotuptadewithchromium. But my browser is brave. should i then name the key to donotuptadewithbrave instead?

Edge has become too powerful. It somehow got installed a few days ago (10) and man is it impenetrable... no method has worked including this
Please try this. It's very simple:
Go into Windows (C:), then Program Files (x86) and look for the 'Microsoft' folder. Open it up (you'll find all the Edge stuff in there) and delete the lot. Then go back one step and delete the 'Microsoft' folder too. Then empty the lot from your Recycle Bin and restart your computer. If Edge is still infecting your computer, I've successfully used a free programme called 'IObit Uninstaller' (hunt on Google) to remove it, but it only lasts until Mr G sneaks it back in again. Deleting his folder works for a lot longer. I hope this helps.
I've seen people saying that by removing edge you can damage other core functions of the operating system. Is that true? And will this cause any future issues with updates and such?

I followed each step exept as of now I can not delete the 2 folders because it's not possible to get the permissions, but this video is awsome. I hope it works!

What if we DO have the "Edge" folder in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"\SOFTWARE\Microsoft? What should be done? Rename that existing Edge folder to "EdgeUpdate" and follow the same instructions? Thanks in advance for your help.
Thats what I got... a folder called Edge in the HKEY folder... the last step... you are right, he dosn't say what to do if you have the folder. Did you find anything out? Thanks!
@@TheSlayerDude stopped wasting time with it. Installed a older version of windows 10 and turned off ALL the updates! Don't have the sh*tty edge nor advertising in youtube amongst other BS that they induce with their updates! 😎
