Pieter decided to target a popular venue at Harties for the day, knowing the venue holds some good sized carp.
The tackle and more specially, the end tackle had to be matched for targeting the big ones. Straight away rigs were build using Size2 Stronghold hooks, knowing the hooking properties these hooks have. Every effort was also made to try and keep the hooklinks and mainline pinned to the bottom of this very silty venue, by using tungsten infused end tackle.
Backleads are also crucial when fishing at Harties, due to the dam that is ridden with Water-hyacinth.
a Basic particle mix of 50/50 cooked maize and tigernuts as free offerings were used, in small quantities. a Baitboat is a better option when dropping the rig in the silt, due to the rig having a shorter distance to drop than when casting. The depth is only but 1,3 - 1,7m in depth.
Banana and Sweetcorn in these hot conditions to seem to trick the carp into a bite.
