  • I needed a new chest of drawers for my guest room. I decided to make this project in the Shaker style. I used Cherry and poplar lumber for the build. I even broke out my dovetail jig on this one. This is a build video with no talking all making. Just a heads up I didn't include every aspect of the build in this video, but I think there is enough shown to give you a good idea of the process I used. Thanks for watching!

By far.. one of the best dresser builds I've seen. Definitely built to last many generations!

Love the DowelMax, I have three. Replaced the knurled brass hold down knobs with bigger jig knobs for arthritic hands.

I love it too! I have two. I guess I'm going to have to get another one to keep up. 😆

@@Woodcraftedworkshop well I like two for sure, one set up for wider post legs and one for framed 3/4” panels. The third one was a gift so I ordered the 1/4” parts but that’s excessive probably.

Amazing job, but please be wary of using the miter gauge and fence for crosscuts as you did; it's incredibly easy to suffer kickback using the fence as a stop with the miter gauge when crosscutting. The one time I ever got kickback was when making a cut exactly like that back when I first started woodworking. I ended up with huge bruise on my belly and it felt like I caught a macho man elbow.

Thanks! I agree. I have suffered a kick back myself.... Not a very good feeling. Thanks for looking out.

very beautiful work. exactly the kind i design and build myself. very well done! if i could just add my personal two cents; i am not a fan of random pin widths as you have them in your drawers. in your attempt to not look machine cut you made them look inconsistent as though different drawers don't go together in this cabinet. (fwiw)

I don’t know how you can cut on the ground like that I’d never be able to get back up 😂 beautiful piece tho

Yeah it sucks to cut like that. I should build a table to take my cuts off the floor.
