I really feel for Henry in this scene, not only did he loose his brother but found out he never really knew him at all

Seth always dug his own grave. As much as his actions alone damned him, it was always his mouth and his need to get people to like him, convince them was a good guy. He told each guy different stories because he can't even get his own story straight or emotions under control. He doesn't even realize what it would look like once all these stories collide because he can't accept it himself. But if he'd only kept his mouth shut and his hands to himself...

This scene where he can't just let Josh go, even when he's finally back in the group and should play it safe and cautious, he still needs people to act the way he wants them to, to rush things and force everyone to be good and happy and normal. It shows that, like Henry alludes to, it's not just when he loses control or occasionally snaps that he can't handle himself. Even in seemingly easy, calm situations he pushes too far, escalates it, and hurts both himself and others.

Man, in the beginning, I really liked Seth a lot, but soon more episodes revealed his true nature as a disturbed violent abuser, it's kinda scary knowing they are some people like Seth in real life, being the best guy at some days and being a monster on some

In the beginning of the show, I was suspicious of his kindness. I wondered how he would fit in in the dynamics of the show (the usual stereotypes of jock, etc). But, I could tell something was off with him because he had this glimmer in his eyes and he was always trying too hard. Also, he tried to kill his brother and passed it off as teaching him a lesson. But, anyone could see he really wanted to kill him. You could essentially feel the aggression from him. That's when I knew something was up with him.

@@chimmyswiftie5252 Yeah, when that happened, I know he was seriously off but like I thought it was him having severe anger issues, when Henry insulted him about his issues with his mom and being stuck on the island made him lose It for once but I was so wrong. After he assaulted josh I knew then this was not him just having rage issues. He hurts people out of power and dominance. You have a really good intuition for catching his nature in the beginning of show

He's just like the best example of someone who needed serious psychological help instead of being used and used against other vulnerable kids. They didn't just put other people in danger, they essentially doomed Seth at a super critical point in his life when he maybe still coulda been helped or taught to cope with his anger in a healthy way.
After rewatching season 1, it struck me how similar Seth and Toni's episodes/outbursts are - toni has been able to get better through friends and self control (except we can see what happens when she loses these things when Martha's out), but Seth is clearly on another level of aggression and self delusion - toni sees herself as unworthy, while Seth keeps convincing himself he's a good guy so he doesn't have to handle the emotional consequences of admitting what he's done. Toni's more likely to have a public outburst that causes damage to objects ex's car, shelter), as though she's trying to forfeit her relationships and reputation before anyone else can. Meanwhile, Seth doubles down on his public image, but acts out privately, targeting one individual at a time with violent rage.

Like, I feel for both of them in how they say there's this well of anger that bubbles up that they can't control. But you can control where you channel that aggression, and Seth hurts people - whether it's himself or others, while toni just destroys things.

Also, as much of a monster as Seth has become, I don't feel great about him being the main "bad guy" in season 3 and seeing the kid just totally go insane and possibly being expected to root for it/his death. When he ultimately meets his fate, I hope there's some recognition of how Gretchen twisted seth into her pawn and took advantage of a developing person who was becoming bad, and just solidified that outcome. Without help, Seth would've turned into a pretty bad guy in the real world. But he'd probably never become the monster that this island and Gretchen let/made him be.

This scene is fantastic. "you have no idea how this feels!" That is classic abuser mentality: the abuser having a genuine beliefs that their feelings are more important than the pain and violence they inflict on others.

Gretchen planned for this to happen. She had someone who was mentally unstable and used sexual violence and physical violence. That’s the whole point, she wants to prove men are evil and she doesn’t care who gets hurt

At some point she talks about her mouth feeling fresh despite throwing up before going to bed, he tells her she used mouthwash during the night and since she was so wasted it could imply that he made her use mouthwash after SAing her
