There is no need to listen to DSD with a SACD disc or DSD stream. All music is generally produced in PCM because all the editing software supports PCM and not DSD. So even a SACD is usually produced in PCM and then at the end after the mastering it is converted to DSD. So if you like the sound of DSD you can perfectly buy a DAC that converts to DSD like the Nuprime to listen to everything no matter if it is 44.1 or 192 in DSD and it sounds amazingly different from the usual PCM sound. The increase in dynamic and "snappyness" is insane. The body is way more substantial. It's a whole different game.
This is inaccurate. Yes, the Pyramix DSD DAW down samples to “DXD” during editing and signal manipulation of any kind. However, the hard to come by Sonoma DSD DAW stays in the DSD domain for all editing and manipulation. Among other pre-existing machines. The Gen X, and Korg has a two channel recorder. Furthermore, if you use the Pyramix in the same way you would a tape machine, do all of your signal manipulation pre-recorder, then you can maintain a pure DSD signal. That is assuming you’re using all analog equipment. I know this seems pedantic and perhaps a little over the top but welcome to the audiophile world. I’m not here to argue whether or not Dsd is better than PCM. However it is my experience that DSD has a capacity to convey a far richer emotional experience than PCM.
Furthermore I will say, the professional tools ARE far and few between. How great would it be if we had updated professional tools that allowed us to use quad or even OCTO Dsd as a kind of “Raw“ file which can be down sampled to anyone’s delight, with all the editing and plug-ins that we have become so dependent on when using PCM. Yes, this would require a lot of innovation, but with computer speeds and AI signal processing this is certainly possible. In fact, most home receivers, TVs and phones would need a simple firmware update to make them DSD compatible. As somebody who has been listening to DSD since the advent of the SACD I would love to see this happen.
I couldn't agree with you more. I've been buying SACDs since they first came out and I am still buying them, as well as DSD files (DSD128) from NativeDSD Music and love them.
DSD has a Ton of Rock, Jazz, and of course classical. BUT it’s just like these rehashed LP’s. When CD’s were King. Remasters of the same album were coming out every 5 years or so it seemed. Well the “Vinyl Revolution” is taking a page or two from the CD playbook. Brah…….you just gave inspiration for my next Video. LP “Fear of Missing Out” vs CD/SACD “Fear of Missing Out”. You comment is 💯. Thanks man !

I had to love your comment an wouldn't dream of removing it from the comments section. DSD was meant as an archival Digital medium. Yeah you can't edit, chop, slice, & dice, reverse the audio, and add audio sweetening unless you convert to 382kHz/32Bit (or is it 24 Bits) and do all that cool stuff and then take the final product and convert is back to DSD with super minimal losses.
@@joeygsaudiochannel3972 the biggest problem with DSD is its slow response when there's fast pulse sound, it cannot cope with it hence it only produce a rounded pulse wave rather than a square, in a sense everyone will perceive it as a warm sounding distortion, but in reality it's inaccurate from what the real sound that it was capturing, meanwhile PCM is basically 1:1 from what it captured in time. so to me DSD sound more like a analog tape in digital domain, it aint precise but for studio use and archival I rather go with higher sampling rate PCM, especially low noise floor at higher sampling rate than DSD.
@@yasunakaikumi Every you say is on point. I think that's why they wanted the format in the first place plus Napster and Piracy was on the rise in '98/'99/'00. DSD over DAC is already better than on optical disc, the bandwith of an SSD or even an SD card IS by far superior to any opto or magneto mecanical device, so now we can talk about true Analog recording over RAW DSD beyond 5 MHz but it's already overkill, as a musician and studio Rat i need an incredible device able to record on AKM chip and actualy there only RME and Tascam with Neve and Prism converter that work on stereo, only Merging technology with Horus and Pyramix system are the only DAW with Sadie Sonoma that Can record multichanel DSD and master it , we need another game changer and high res mic able to delivered that performance or any recording became bullshit , especialy with tape source that are unable to perform as good as true DSD native...

I buy A LOT from www.highdeftapetransfers.ca/
I have been buying more SACDs. They are so good.
Going to try DSD!🍻
I record all my vinyl to DSD. It pretty much sounds identical. Dsd256
I wish. The Tascam does 128 but for me the memory/space on my NAS likes 64 :-). Thanks for your support and watching the Video.
@@joeygsaudiochannel3972 yeah. Hard to swallow the large files. But I am archiving. I am using an RME ADI-2. That little Korg box does great too
Dsd sounds more analog than PCM but vinyl sounds more analog than all of them 😂

PCM can be converted to DSD via SoX.

DSD is Sony shit , PCM is best. There are a lot things that you can't do it with DSD
