I have an 86. Other than the color and headlight motors that don't work and recently has a new carburetor that's making her run right and a lot stronger than it was, runs and drives perfectly

Wow yeah. What's weird about this ad is that at the 00:20 mark, the graphic changes from 52 to 50.

This was the “Wild West” era of EPA ratings. I’d say this car could get anywhere from high 30s-50, because back then the manufacturers would use tricks like disconnecting the electronics and running it downhill to boost up their MPG estimates. Either way though, this thing is probably better on gas than today’s subcompacts because it’s SO much lighter.

@@Dethmeister Paused and read the fine print, it’s because the “52” estimate was with the standard 4-speed transmission and the “50” estimate is with the optional 5-speed. Holy beep they didn’t want anyone to find out about that, they left that stat on there for like a tenth of a second. At first I thought it was going to be an error or a sign that they reused the graphics from another commercial they did (I was assuming maybe Sentra), not pertinent information about the car! They must have been mandated to include the figure, because they certainly weren’t trying to make it public. FYI, city MPGs are the same for both at 35.
