Full coverage of the men's four rowing 1st heat from Eton Dorney as part of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Rowing has been staged at all the editions of the Olympic Games, except in 1896 in Athens. It was, however, on the programme, but a stormy sea compelled the organisers to cancel the events.
Women made their debut at the Games in 1976 in Montreal. They competed in a smaller programme. The Olympic Games in 1996 in Atlanta marked the introduction of the lightweight events.

its called tandem rigging. the Germans and Italians started using it. Its actually mathematically and mechanically more superior to row in this style.

    Why do Germany's blades go P, S, S, P instead of regular P, S, P, S?

Headspace because the guys in bow and seat are the strongest but they both are port. And in the middle of the boat you influence the boat more than on stroke or bow and that's why the stronger sit in stroke or bow
