- Come take a ride on the Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster in Pigeon Forge Tennessee. This is advertised as the second longest alpine coaster in America and it was the first one in the Smoky Mountains. I rode this five years ago and needless to say, I was scared of it and went pretty slow. This time I'm determined to conquer it and ride it how it should be ridden.

Yes it does. Some places still have the traditional alpine slides that use a pipe.

I just rode this today and really enjoyed it. It’s my first alpine coaster since I was a kid. Loved the scenery and sense of speed(I know you aren’t really going that fast) and the helixes provided great laterals

This was exhilarating for me to watch! I'm glad you were able to give it full throttle this time. The only mountain coaster I've ridden is the one at Camelback in Tannersville, PA. I was full-throttle the whole way on that one. The new mountain coasters are a lot safer than the old alpine slides which I used to enjoy. I've never been to Pigeon Forge but I'll be sure to check it out if I'm ever in the area. Thanks for sharing the ride with us!
The one in camelback is the very first one I rode. I think I need to do it again.

Ya did great! Felt like I was on it with you. Loved it with the music too. I would love to ride it but I'd have a hard time getting on it and it's even worse for me trying to get off of it. I would go full speed. Can tell you ain't no southern boy. 50 degrees and you got shorts on. I'd be geared up for winter. Rofl! Thanks for the fun video.

There's several to choose from, but this is the longest one in the Smokies
So much fun. We did one of these in South Dakota. My yougest son skipped it because he's afraid of heights. He says he wishes he would have done it.

Once went Mach 2.5 on a roller coaster in Hershey park in pa that was the last time I rode on a roller coaster what a way to go out 🎉❤can’t do anymore due to health issues

Have never riden on one of these we have one just over the mountains, and never will I hate coasters. Am both impressed and surprised how long it took for them to create them since they only use gravity.
It's a unique attraction in the beautiful Smoky mountains

I like that you have some control of the ride, but it's pretty unique compared to traditional coasters.
That was hilarious! How fast is top speed?
Around 25mph, but it feels much faster.
I miss the old alpine slides with concrete tracks, no safety nets and sleds that may or may not have working brakes.
There's still a few of those around

Next time you're insecure about riding an alpine coaster, just play danger zone at max volume and let go of the breaks, you'll love it. Power though the danger zone.

well for anyone who suffers from motion sickness you absolutely need to get a pair of magnetic bracelets for me I take ginger pills if I go on steep hills with my bracelets on an hour before I leave the house and then I don’t feel anything after that 😊

The view down by the creek was nice and peaceful. Hard to find a bad area in the smokies.
So how does this play out time/line wise? My concern is always I want to fly as fast as possible, but the person who went in front of me is a brake checking chicken. Do they have daredevil days? Do they space out the riders to take that into consideration?
They are spaced out and if you're stuck behind a slow rider you can ask to go again.
