- Hello and welcome to a new video on Uboat. In this video, we get command of our first uboat designated U-606 as we take her on a new mission to sink enemy shipping in the Norwegian Sea in the Battle of the Artic
UBOAT
UBOAT is a simulator of a submarine from WWII era, yet different than all you have seen so far. It is a survival sandbox with crew management mechanics while its primary theme is life of German sailors. The boat is their home, but it can become their grave at any time.
In UBOAT you control the crew in order to control the boat. You look after their physical and mental health, because if the sailors are hungry, tired and their spirit is low, there’s no chance of winning even a skirmish.
Survival
The extensive damage system is a foundation of the game's survival elements. Unprecedented situations are bound to happen as the effect of received damage, testing player's creativity and ability to stay calm. You can try to save the whole crew or leave someone behind, to save the others.
While your ship travels through the open seas, you will often find yourself being on your own. Use your management skills to spend resources taken on the trip optimally and in special cases try to recover them on the sea, by asking your allies for the help... or by looting wreckages of enemy ships.
Disable unnecessary devices, to keep your accumulators running for longer.
Tell your crew to stay in their bunks to preserve oxygen.
If crew's morale is low - play with them a session of Skat or play music from nearby radio stations, to fortify their hearts.
Kriegsmarine career
During the playthrough you will receive assignments from the Kriegsmarine headquarters. They are never linear and you may receive additional orders during them or face unexpected problems.
Brave completion of assignments from the headquarters is rewarded with additional budget for the unit under your command and with acceptance of your growing reputation as an u-boat's skipper. You will need that, to upgrade your ship and keep up with enemy's technological advances.
Upgrade your boat for the rewarded funds.
Receive additional permissions for the reputation points.
Buy new equipment - new torpedo types, sonar decoys, CO2 absorbers and much more.
Send your officers on special tasks in the headquarters to, among other things, speed up a research of new technologies.
Accurate simulation
Game's simulation elements are very realistic, but that never comes at a cost of gameplay quality. Despite extensive simulation elements, UBOAT can be played like a regular game and complex matters can be learned later to become a better skipper for the commanded unit.
Even small things like the influence of ballast in each compartment on the ship's trim (tilt) or Earth's curvature are faithfully reproduced in the game.
Perfection can be achieved in many ways. Prove your management skills and swiftly assign work to your officers to speed things up. If, on the other hand, you think that if something needs to be done, it's better to do that on your own - sit behind the periscope, hydrophone or 88 mm deck gun and take matters in your own hands!

Not once since I've played this game or watched the countless videos this is the first time ever seeing an enemy u-boat!! So cool!
2000hrs played never seen one I've been torpedoed at least 3 times always assumed it was T5's maybe not

Have they added submarines recently or is this a mod?
4:35 british had one captured Type VII C submarine which was used against german u boats,it was called hms graph.
Absolute stunner from that friendly U-Boat captain. Absolutely decimated the convoy.
There actually was a submarine battle in the Second World War that involved two submarines. The German U-864 and the British HMS Venturer. It occurred west of Bergen, and the Venturer had spotted the periscope of U-864 and proceeded to follow it. U-864 was waiting for their escort when they noticed they were being followed. After some chasing the Venturer engaged and launched a spread of 4 torpedos at 17 second intervals and at different depths. U-864 evaded three of them but turned into the path of the fourth and was destroyed. There’s a little more to the story but this is the main of it.
the winch is on the front of the sub, if u go to the external view and hold ALT it will show the winch and should give the option to send a diver
Depends on the depth of the ocean where you sank someone. needs to be relatively shallow.
Whilst Taff in lying on the bottom of the ocean covering himself with sand, a friendly U-boat Captain is blowing the seven shades of sh!t out of the enemy fleet covering himself with glory! No offence Taff....but I want to watch the channel of that other guy!
Upon sighting a Taff Uboat video, I naturally clicked on it to watch. That’s my style, sir.

The episode where Taff goes all Han Solo "Never tell me the odds" When the viewers think to themselves that the odds of successfully hitting an enemy submarine with a torpedo is approximately seventeen million to one.

Congratulations on sinking a British Sub. (A pity they hadn't modelled the Brit sub). Just making it down the English Channel to La Rochelle is an achievement in its own right for a U-boat. Damned lucky to have a wolf pack arrive to hit that convoy. The AI Captains certainly earning their pay. Frankly think you were robbed of that Tanker claim. It was definitely sinking before that torp hit but surviving was the main thing. Good Hunting.
P611 was a Turkish Sub Variant of the S Class. Briefly commissioned in 1941 as HMS P611. The Turkish Navy call them Oruç Reis-class Submarines

Excellent episode taff, more tonnage both merchant and naval sent to the seabed, turning the hunter into the hunted in regards of the corvettes is a good addition to not only naval morale but also to the tally and reputation, and blowing some targets in half.. that's putting the fear of God into the enemy. Good wolfpack skill from yourself and the friendly U-boat, papa Doenitz will be pleased. The ocean turns red with blood in this episode, I would have thought the corvettes would have just vaporised but that's probably just how the game is set. Excellent episode taff, more tonnage sent to the seabed and more trophies added to the belt. Great episode taff, keep it up mate 👍
No a lot of people know that U-boats were very active in the Caribbean in the 40's. Sank a ton of ships too. One of them even blew up ships anchored in the Port-of-Spain harbour in Trinidad (where I'm from 😊 🇹🇹). Sum wild shit .....
Thanks for confirming that, at times, the Caribbean and Latin America were OFTEN in front line crazy action. I'm comparing the Chaco with the war in Ukraine right now. I'm hoping Taff is going for T+T, possibly Cacao.
Are you running a mod that put enemy submarines into the game, or was that an addition in a recent patch?
Things like that happened in reality,for example surfaced U-333 was attacked by submerged HMS Graph at the coast of Spain while returning to La Rochelle.
Nice shot on the sub 👍 and being about 65 feet, depending on time spent getting out of the sub itself, injuries, etc, most who would attempt, probably been able to swim up to surface without aqua-lung or whatever device was called.

A non-German submarine is that. A submarine. Not a “U-Boat”. A U-Boat refers specifically to a German submarine. Just sayin’. Nice shot. And nobody got out. With ~ 3 atmospheres of pressure on the hatches, they’re not opening.
On the Briefing Report, that British submarine was designated with the Red Ensign, which is wrong. It should have had the White Ensign. White Ensign = RN warships & submarines; Red Ensign = Merchant Navy.
Wow interesting! Never seen another enemy sub in this game. Although I never heard of a British captured uboat either.

@taff in exile, is this a mod that puts friendly and enemy subs in the game? Ive got ony about 20 hours in the game but havent seen anything other than surface ships.

been watching your content for some time. sinking the enemy uboat was very cool. would have been even more interesting if you could have sent out a diver to help the fellow submariners at 20m

Amusingly the British sub HMS P-615 was sunk by U-123 on 18th April 1943 - very close timeframe to this. The P-611s were a group of four subs initially built for the Turkish navy but requisitioned by the Royal Navy.
When I saw the title of this video, I was incredulous, given the time period. But it was fun to watch.

That was technically a Turkish sub by this point in the war, but hey... whatever. Sure made for an interesting encounter. Especially later on with those other U-boats going nuts and slinging torps every which way, hahahaha....

Also a bit of a fun fact;
The submarine you sank was of the Oruç Reis-class, designated P116-class, built for the Turkish Navy. Only four were ever built, and on the 18th of April, 1943, H.M.S. P615 was sunk by U-123.

Gotta ask, 1943? How do allied ships not have radar that is detecting you long before you sight them? Radar was almost ubiquitous around England in 1943.
uboats were harder targets to pinpoint than regular ships though its mostly the aircraft that were a problem regular ship mounted sets were not as useful against Uboats so planes should actually be even more deadly but the game probably wouldn't really be that much fun it would be very hard to balance.
U boat have very low radar signature especially if half washed board.
Ship need to be at certain height to even show up On radar.
@@gkagara Yes, very true, but it was good enough in 1943, especially in the channel and on ships assigned there. Other games model this exceptionally well (SH3) and as you say decks awash is really the way to go in night attacks and such because the deeper you go the more detectable you are as a submarine on hydrophones. I don't think this game models either of those things.
