I admire his courage to walk away from a successful pro football career and pursue an even greater dream as a musician. Prodigious talent. Great songwriter.
I was lucky to have watched Mike Reid dominate as a defensive lineman during our days at Penn State but his career as a wonderful musician reveals his true self. So much respect and admiration for Mike Reid. A life to be admired.
Mr Reid wrote this beautiful song, Bonnie Raitt with Bruce Hornsby made it unforgettable. Can’t say how often I have this on repeat over the last 25 years. (Covid watching in Hawaii 4/13/21 😷🤙🏼🥰)
Bonnie and Bruce take it to another level. I agree it is the greatest and most beautiful lost love ballad ever written and one of the greatest and most heart felt songs of all time.
The comment below highlights how quickly we categorize people into boxes. I could've never imaged that a pro football player wrote and performed this masterpiece. We really are unlimited.
OMG. It's wonderful when you hear a popular song you love performed by its writer, and that writer is also an accomplished performer. What a treat. I never thought I'd hear him sing this. Mike Reid is a stellar singer and player. And this rendition is so beautiful, it brought me to tears. It stands shoulder to shoulder with the Bonnie Raitt version for me. Sheer beauty.
I cannot believe Mike is 73 years old, a first round draft choice of the Bengals (7th overall pick) He was small by today's standards only 6" 3' and 235. It seems just like yesterday he was playing. My-Oh-My time does slip away quickly.
Michael, I bought your CD with this song on it. It made me cry and it has never ceased to move me. Every time I have heard this song, I always wished it was you singing it! Your version is one of my all time favorites! It's a real treat to see this live version of it and you! My best regards!
Wow. Infinitely better than any other cover out there. My goodness. Just found out about Mike Reid today... this is fantastic and moving. Beautiful. Gorgeous. Lovely. I love you all.
Mike should ALWAYS sing his own songs. Others just don't do them justice...maybe I'm just partial to the piano and the lack of others in the background. This one and Everywhere are two of the best BUT always bring tears.
Love hearing a man and the writer sing this. I've always heard it as an anthem, a breakthrough moment "And I will give up this fight!" And, son of a gun, if that isn't where he crescendos and the rest is resolution. Beautifully expressed.
Hi Mike, you may not remember me but I met you through Danny Morgan back in the 70's. I am so happy to see how successful you are and this song is one of the best. Good luck in the future.
I never knew who wrote this song! I have performed it many times and always loved the lyrics! I am taking a songwriting class with Berklee College of Music Online and they recommended we listen to this version. I had no idea so many people covered this song including Prince and Carrie Underwood! I love Bonnie Raitt and Tank's version. But I must admit the way that Mike Reid sings it sounds very heartfelt and beautiful. 💖
What a beautiful song
What a talented guy. Great writer, great singer, great football player and a great man. God Bless you Mr/ Reid.

I live in Cincinnati and was so impressed because he had been a Bengal! Love my home team, win or loose! Love this song!
I remember reading about him in Sports Illustrated when he was playing at Penn State.
Incredible song my guy. Top tier all time. Congratulations.

Are you gonna ignore that the most successful covers of this song were from ADELE and GEORGE MICHAEL ?
😂😂
@@SpaghettiKillah I can't ignore something I had no idea about.
@@SpaghettiKillah Tank's cover has 81M views. I believe that's been surpassed sir.
Always Gonna Be You...beautiful song.
Probably my favorite song of all time.
hello George Michael still sings this the best n thks all concerned who composed it❤
So smooth he bodied it!
Allen Shamblin was the co-writer of this song. Let's give *all* the writers their due (and their nickels).
Classis
aewsome. bonnie rait knocks it out the park, but he wrote it.
Cuts to the quick ...
What does Mike Reid do now? Trying to find any performances of him.
I can’t make you love me; if you don’t. :(
Who is watching One piece? Mr. reid looks like Roger right hand.
Teddy Swims is better....
