Hi Bill, glad to see you at the stones again, its been a while. And, yes you really should have a go at the film on a stick method and make a video 😁

Always an informed chat from you Bill , wise words always .
Ive a Ralf Aust ,I'll do a comparison shave ...although the blanks share the same Solingen forge , i suspect the more critical hardening and tempering varies maker to maker , and as you stated errors can so easily be encountered. Even from the same maker. 3 razors ive had, I needed to cut back the factory edge as heat damaged by the numptie finisher ( especially Boker ).
Im no expert on nanocloths ....i imagine the car 🚗 type nanocloths might also work ?
Great shave and chat Bill 🎉.

Nice shave Bill. I really enjoyed the honing video. I’m not very familiar with convex honing. It does seem interesting.

Hiya bill. I just started shaving with a shavette about a year ago but always wanted to shave with a real one. I have three real straight razors but I can only get them half as sharp one of them is brand new and the other two is from around the second world war. I've spent a lot of money on all different kinds of sharpening stones but as soon as I try to shave nothing happens. I tried to talk about it to my barber that uses straight razors but he's not really sure. I was wondering if you might have a clue on why they don't cut. I love you're videos you don't see too many people anymore using straight razors haha and sorry for the long comment im just stumpt

@@RaymondJ06 Hi Raymond and thanks for tuning in. Are you in the continental US? If so, I could always hone one up for you to try. Many barbers are under regulatory requirements to use replaceable blade tools and not necessarily experienced in sharpening. I do like shavettes, they shave a little different though and I mostly use my straights these days. One can get close to shavette performance with a straight, but IMO it is hard to top a tool like a Feather Artist Club razor.

@@billm.2677Thanks Bill for replying I am indeed in the US. And that would be wonderful if you are able to do. Would I have to send you the razor in the mail? I'm not quite sure what that process would be
