Technically we could have some 2025 models released in 2024 with NACS, but it seems some companies meant manufacturing dates in 2025. We may see some 2025 models with different ports based on their manufacturing date.

Eh, it's not something to worry about. You're going to need an adapter either way. If it ships with CCS, you'll need the NACS adapter as the industry makes the jump. If it ships with NACS, you'll still need a CCS adapter to use the thousands of existing fast chargers that still have CCS. And it will take AWHILE before the charging infrastructure is pure NACS: think of how many 50 kw EVgo units are still in service! Regardless, you're going to be playing with adapters for another half decade to a decade even if you get NACS with your car.

That's never happening unfortunately, the skateboard design ( motors, wheels and battery bottom section) means no engine subframe, only mounting points for the body. At the very least, it looks great! I saw one of these at an auto show, and really liked it. 150kW is not that slow, if you consider that cars capable of charging faster only do so for about 3-5 minutes, before tapering back to ~140 kW anyway. To me, it's not worth the extra stress on the battery, to save 10 minutes or so on a charge session.
I will sacrifice a few miles of range, to have all-wheel-drive. I live in Northern Utah, where we have winter snow. I also live on a 18% grade, where I have a tough time climbing the hill with a front wheel drive car. Front wheel drive is even less effective in an EV, because you don't have the bulk of its weight over its drive wheels. EV's tend to have equal weight on all four wheels, owing to the enormous battery. Because of its near perfect weight distribution, all wheel drive is the way to go, in adverse weather.

Thanks for the walkthrough, Nathan! One area where I think all car reviewers need to start applying a bit more nuance is when they are discussing charging speeds. I get that peak charging speeds are an easy number to reference, but without context, the peak charging speed is largely meaningless. The more pertinent number is average charging speed, and even that needs to be adjusted by actual driving efficiency. And then, from the end user, non-tech-geek driver perspective, what really matters is how the charging speeds align with everyday use.
The 85 kWh Ultium pack has roughly the same average C rate to 80% as Tesla's 2170 packs, but Ultium has a flatter curve. If you're someone who makes fewer but longer charging stops on trips, there's almost no difference between the two. If you're comfortable driving to nearly empty and only stopping for 10 to 15 minutes, then you can start to accrue an advantage in travel times in a Tesla at the cost of more relaxed stops. By comparison, E-GMP cars probably provide the most utility because they can charge to 80% in about half the time of either the Tesla or Ultium platforms, but for the same utility, they tend to be slightly less efficient.
Realistically, though, unless you are a regular long-distance traveler, the differences are minor. In fact, I'd argue that the onboard L2 AC charging speed might more relevant for most buyers.

I currently have a Chevy Bolt EUV, and have my eye on the Prologue because it looks like the seats are much more comfy (will have to confirm by sitting in one myself), it will keep the Android Auto, the cup holders and arm rest look better, and I like the Honda brand better than any GM brand. I will hold off on a Prologue until they come out with the built in NACS port though, so no 2024 for me. This also gives me a chance to sit back and observe how well the Ultium platform performs during it's first year, plus let the purchasers of the 2024 model be the guinea pigs of the first model year. Would also be nice to see a charging rate better than 150 kW, I wonder if future versions with the NACS port will have upgraded charging speeds?

EV vehicles lately are designed to do what gas vehicles cannot, perform at a higher level of efficiency nothing to do with cargo space. It is just fact that EVs are far more powerful and fun to drive with the handling that is created through the design and not comparable to boxy heavy duty gas vehicles.

I went from charging every 2 days to charging every day, and being able to drive 3 work segments to 1.5. So my savings went out when my efficiency seemed to be cut dramatically. 150 kw isn't impressive on paper, but you need to see the curve. Hitting a high number is one thing; holding the high number and slowly ramping down is another. I'm not going to suggest this will top a E-GMP car, but you can still get good charging performance on a smaller max rate if you have a flatter curve.

They probably shield all the high frequencies left with low frequency with long wavelength that may not going to do anything to human. But I believe high power stuff should be outside.

It's an EV that's simple to use, and I like it. It has a charge door that mimics a gas door in use, and nothing fancy like in other EVs where it likely could break. It's got normal door handles and not fancy flush or electronic door handles that likely could break or not come out in winter. It's got a normal interior layout with normal knobs and buttons for common tasks. It's got a normal center console with place to put items. It even has a normal start button and gear selector. It's an EV for folks that want to go electric but don't want to deal with the quirks of other EVs that likely could cause problems.

I mean automakers want EVs to permeate the masses, and most people don’t have 40k+ to spend on a car comfortably to begin with when the average salary is 65-75k, let alone to change it out every 4 years. The mentality might work for the wealthy early adopters who wanted something cool, but you’re not permeating the masses I mentioned earlier if you expect them to spend 40-50k and switch it out every 4 years. That comment doesn’t make sense for what automakers are trying to do with EVs.

@@willnye9788 has it become a problem? The normal door handles and gas doors, for example, have been around for so long and hardly changed because there’s been no need for it. No research or studies have shown that it’s problematic Things like this just alter consumer behavior, if anything. When folks order Ubers not knowing cars and it takes them 3-5 minutes to find the door handle on a Tesla Uber, you know you’re altering consumer behavior.
You’re entitled to your own opinion, but there are many folks like Nathan that just want an EV that they can get in and go like a normal car and not have to alter the way they do things, and this car does that. They just want to get in easily, go, and not have to worry about so many things that can break. Not everyone wants to swap out cars every 4 years for new tech nor has the money to do so.
