I know a lot of people are gonna be down on this but I wouldn’t knock it just yet. There was a lot of incompetence going on with the coaching staff these past few years especially on the defense so I wouldn’t judge this idea based off what we saw last year.
Incompetence wasn’t with this staff….previous regime….

I think it’s exciting. I just watched training camp videos and he’s got some twitchiness to him.
I like your thinking, although I was so upset with Carol and the coaching that I'm likely to give undue credit to anything the new team does
I’d assume this more of a positional flexibility/hybrid plan. Being able to play him inside and on the edge can help execute those complex defensive schemes and confuse offenses. I got a feeling that the new staff is pretty high on what we could get out of Jones. I also think he’s better than his stats last year and that he wasn’t put in a great position to excel due to how thin we were on the interior line and edge last season.

Macdonald is gonna move players around constantly….we saw this when we played Baltimore and got destroyed. This is what we want, complete confusion and chaos caused by our D by where they line up and where they end up. Players operating as multiples. Overall love it
I view this as a way to have players on the field and in packages for mismatches. I could see Murphy, Williams, nwosu, reed, jones all on the field at the same time and creating mismatches

I love this play. I dont think the previous regime knew how to use DreMont just like Denver. This plays into Mike sceme perfectly.
What scares me is what happens to Derick hall. Fourth edge? We had a first round grade on him not long ago...
Derrick Hall has been training hard. Will shock a lot of people. Our front 7 will be deep and deadly.
I have a feeling that Derrick Hall is going to improve a lot. He had a really atrocious game last year, and got in the doghouse and just never got out of it.

A 285 lb. guy is hypothetically going to have issues chasing some TEs around and sealing the edge. Unfortunately for us, Jones seems to need to play next to a monster DT that can suck up double teams for him to get stats.

How does he know how much of the time the Hawks will be in a 3/4. I think Darrell Taylor will make the team.

Isn’t Macdonald king of simulated pressure. So he could be “on paper”an edge but at the snap end up running up the middle??? So on paper hed be an edge olb but on film he really does both edge/de responsibility.

Remember they want to collapse the pocket. Murphy in the middle pushing the pile nothing is going to squirt out the sides with Dre there.

I doubt they release DT he can get to the QB if anything restructure contract make him work on his run defense

Dre'Mont is a bigger slower version of Michael Bennett. He'll play all along the DL. Mac's D is all about deception and versatility and that is what Dre is.
