This is actually a "cold process" soap. Yes, the oils are at an elevated temp when the ingredients are combined, but the soap is not cooked through to a translucent stage. This soap will require time to saponify, unlike a "hot process" where translucency will indicate completion of the saponification process. Still, this is a wonderful recipe, and thank you for sharing this video.
Awesome job! I liked the hand molded ones the best. One question please....did you start out cooking the soap on high and then turn it down to low for the rest of the cook? I know that with Stearic you probably started the crockpot on high temp to melt it, but I was wondering if you turned it down on low once you reached taffy stage for the rest of the cook? And with your yogurt milk mixture yousaid you heated it up before incorporating it? I'm getting ready to make a batch and have always wondered about the temp and if it was on high or low. The lather was just fabulous! I can't wait to give this recipe a try!
Carol Woolsey I believe I turned the crock pot off when I added the lye and left it off. I warmed my yoghurt mixture so it wouldn't cool the soap batter too much when I added it. Good luck. Let me know how you go!!
I wanted to let you know that it turned out fabulous! I made a second batch using a different recipe and it to turned out great too. We did a lather test it was phenomenal! How much yogurt and milk did you use for your recipe? I am thinking that I want to try this out. Lactic acid is fabulous for the skin! I am soo excited! Let me know about the amount of milk and yogurt so that I can get to making another batch with this in it...then test again!
