Chrysler Australia also liked the name and used it for the sports coupe version of the 1971 Australian Valiant. The Valiant Charger. A memorable series of Hey Charger ads available to see on RUclips. 215 to 265 Hemi sixes as well as 318, 340 and 360 V8 options. Top power was the RT E49 Hemi 265 six version with triple Weber Carbs rated at 302 hp.
The FWD Charger didn’t have the Volkswagen 1.7 liter, it came with a tuned 2.2 liter, with straight exhausts. I owned one of the test mules. The exhaust notes were quite exhilarating and the vehicle , like the Mustang II, probably allowed it to become a powerful vehicle and resume its title.
I used to own the 69th Shelby charger ever built as per it's vin number. It has a straight exhaust also, and a tuned 2.2L with one hell of a cam, and a big 2barrel Holley. This video claimed barely over 100hp. That is way off. Little monster would fly. I sold it and it's fully restored and in the Carrol Shelby museum now. Man I miss that car. Glad it's in the museum though.
First time I ever saw a Dodge Charger was when my dad and I were watching Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry on TV and I asked him what kind of car that was. Then a few years later The Dukes Of Hazzard came on TV and I was hooked.
Please do a vid about Australian cars. So many cool brands came and manufactured stuff here. Valiant had a charger which had many cool engine options. Also of course the ford falcon and Holden commodore would make great episodes
Can we get a video on the Toyota Cressida? It was the halo Toyota sedan before Lexus was created. It also had a ton of different versions around the world
I read ages ago that scouts from the series would scour parking lots, looking for people who would sell their Chargers. 320 irreplaceable Chargers were destroyed for the series, and another 25 for the 2005 movie. A classic car is a terrible thing to waste.
Can we note it sold more than other muscle cars in the 2010s because it had 4 doors and also had models equipped with AWD. It wasn’t a strict muscle car like the mustang, Camaro, and challenger.
@@jasonnickell9420 yeah it would have been cool, they’re just isn’t enough space under the hood. Plus it probably would have been quicker than the RWD and that just couldn’t be seen.
@@jaymoe5.7 Interesting, I read something maybe 5 years ago about the AWD Charger. Seemed like the article said it was only an option with the V6. And I never knew there was an AWD 300.
@@jasonnickell9420 yep, they made them but stopped for a few years and then made them again for a few years and quit making them again. I owned a 74 Charger SE for 6 years. It wasn't much with a 318, but someone spec'd it with a 727 torqueflite and heavy rear end. One of the best and most reliable cars I ever owned. I could also smoke a 5.0 mustang given enough room.
