    In this video, we will talk about the DO's and DONT's of the asylum application process. We talk a little bit about how to the asylum application process works. It does require a lot of important information being provided in detail, but nevertheless, the process itself is fairly simple.
    Here is the link to asylum application form, which is a form i 589:
    www.uscis.gov/i-589
    A lot of people confuse asylum and refugee status and ask questions like "can you apply for asylum outside the US." Asylum status is when you apply from within the country, not from the outside.
    Asylum in USA and the steps towards it are made very simple and understandable by USCIS. First, you need to determine your asylum eligibility. Also, you will find the asylum application checklist in the instructions of the application. Your asylum statement is probably on of the most important parts.
    Asylum case processing time vary based on many different circumstances, like the time when you filed for your asylum, the processing center you filed to, etc.
    I will also take into consideration family members of asylum seekers and of course, the above attached page has very detailed information on that as well.
    If you have any questions, you can ask them in the comments below. I will be doing more free immigration help videos describing different processes so make sure to subscribe. USCIS made it very simple to properly apply and submit documents for different statuses, etc.
    If you have any requests for certain immigration topics, also, let me know in the comments below.

      This is an excellent question! Yes, I definitely recommend bringing something to the interview that will help you follow along, like the chronological layout of the events that I have mentioned.

    Would you please advise after case file submission, what things we have to do our day to day life

    • @FIHFreeImmigrationHelp
      @FIHFreeImmigrationHelp  4 года назад +1

      It is a great question! It will be a little bit tough for the first six months while the case is pending. After the six months pass, you can apply for the employment authorization document and once you get that, you can apply for a social security card. With all of that, it will become much easier because now you can legally work, and do other things where social security is required, like opening up a bank account or renting a place. During these 6 months I would recommend keeping a close eye on the case. Check the status of the case regularly, make sure to mark the calendar and count from the date of the receipt.

      Thank You so much. Can you advise about tax, insurance, driving license, investment, pregnancy and etc while asylum status is pending.

    • @FIHFreeImmigrationHelp
      @FIHFreeImmigrationHelp  4 года назад +1

      Definitely! You won't have to worry about the income tax, because you won't be able to work until you get the EAD and social security, this is probably the toughest part of these six months. If you have some funds, you won't be able to do much with them (like start a Roth IRA or 401k for example) because you need social security to do all of that. There are some banks where you can open checking/savings accounts without the social security, so if you have funds, I would recommend to do that in order to keep them safe. You can get a driver's license without the social security, but you will need to provide the letters from the USCIS to show that you are in pending status. The driver's license will be for a shorter period of time, but it is definitely better than not having one. Insurance wise, you can get car insurance without the social and you can purchase the health insurance, although I never had to deal with it personally, so I am not sure how it works. In case of pregnancy, you can apply for Medicaid for the mother and the baby.I am not sure if it is state-by-state, but in New York for example, Medicaid covers 100% of all the medical pregnancy costs. Also, a mother is covered for 6 months after the baby is born and you don't have to worry about the baby, because he/she now is the US citizen. It is tough process, but doing everything right is very much worth it! Great question, I think I will have to make a video about this particular topic.

    Hey, I'm from the Middle East. Can I apply for asylum/refugee while I'm overseas?

    • @FIHFreeImmigrationHelp
      @FIHFreeImmigrationHelp  4 года назад

      Hello, thank you for your question. The asylum is only for the people who are physically in the US. The refugee depends on the available refugee programs. Depending on where you are in the world, check out your local sources to see if there are any available.

      Hello, thank you for your question. The only thing that might be affected is the processing time, however I haven't heard of any new legislations that might affect the outcome of the asylum case in relation to the virus.

    During this 6 month while the case is pending the us government doesn’t help asylum seekers they don’t provide any accommodation or social help ? I somebody doesn’t have such a money to live 6 month with no income what he has to do ?

    • @FIHFreeImmigrationHelp
      @FIHFreeImmigrationHelp  4 года назад

      No, when we are applying for asylum we are making a choice to start a process and submit our case for the review. Until the case is reviewed and approved, there is nothing that the government needs to do besides reviewing the case. It will be a tough months, but they will pass pretty quickly, they are just part of the process.
