  • I truly wish I had known how to do this years ago. My entire family loves fresh corn-on-the-cob. This is fast and easy. There is no mess shucking it or cleaning the silks off. It slides out of the shucks and the silks stay in the shuck. No mess!
    Ingredients:
    Corn on the cob
    Butter
    Salt

My momma used to boil water before we picked the ears from the garden. The sugar in the corn starts to turn to starch within minutes of picking. This would be a fantastic and easy way to cook corn on the cob in short order.

I just learned this a few weeks ago, I have 30 ears in the kitchen right now that I'm fixing to do. The wattage of your microwave does matter. My daughter buys off the farm and brings momma & daddy fresh corn. God truly blessed us with the best children! Becky, you will never shuck corn any other way, Our grown son called everyone he knew and told them about this after I showed him! Blessings to you girl!

But the corn is still HARD and for older folks hard corn can be hard to eat and worse to digest
shuck it, it does not take that long nor make that much of a mess in my opinion
One could microwave it then shuck as you did and then let it boil a LONG Time for melt in your mouth SOFT corn
And I might add easier to digest for those who have that issue with corn.

I do mine on my George Foreman indoor grill on a medium/high setting of course with shucks on. What I do is peel shucks down and try to de-hair the corn as much as possible and then butter the corn and fold the shucks back up and then grill them for about 3 minutes per side and about 4 turns and let me tell you that corn practically falls right off the cob.

I've heard about this for a while but I will never do it. For years since I was young, we would pick a pickup full of corn and spend the day husking, cleaning, cooking, cutting off the kernels and bag them up to freeze for the year. I can't tell you how many cobs over the years that you would occasionally find a grub in it or little worms throughout the cob. I would hate to microwave it and open it and find cooked grubs with them. I'll sit out in the heat and peel the husks off before I microwave and find a little cooked surprise inside.

A friend of mine usually brings me a bunch of corn but it's not ready here yet in Iowa. Never fails that there will be some with borers. Even sometimes in the grocery store there will iffy ones. I usually peel back the tops & peek before I shuck. I'm not good at dealing with bugs. Earwigs are the worst! 😬
