    I have a paradise fish. No idea what sex it is. But lives in a heavily planted temporate community aquarium as my centrepiece fish. It keeps the guppies from over breeding which was why I got it. It does a much better job of this than my previous betta. Other inhabitants of this aquarium are large cory gang, half a dozen ottos, neocaridina and amano shrimp and nerites. The paradise fish always comes to say hello when I am in the room with it. Much like my previous betta did

    You didn't mention that the paradise fish generally need lower temperature and lower protein content in their food compared to bettas. Temperature around 18-28 degrees. So no heater is necessary. Protein content around 40%, so even goldfish food can be added for variety 1-2 times a week.

    What would a minimum tank size for these fish be? I have a ten gallon I’m looking to stock but I’ll likely just put a betta in it if these won’t fit

    • @aquadiaryofficial
      @aquadiaryofficial  9 месяцев назад +1

      20 gallons. They are hardy fish, can survive in smaller tanks. But if you are planning for a pair, 20 gallons are minimum.

      Can I ask - if you have 20 gallon tank with community additions of 6 danio currently...the recommendation is to have just one alone in the tank (male as more colourful) rather than 2 males or male and female.... 1 male is ok right?

      @@aquadiaryofficialI also advise people who have trypophobia at the sight of clusters of bubbles but still like the long finned look of bettas and other anabantoids to just avoid the group altogether and get guppies instead because guppies don’t blow clusters of bubbles and you can’t avoid trypophobia by telling your betta to stop building bubble nests. Trust me I tried to tell my fish to stop when my friend with trypophobia said that he would destroy the bubble nest if he sees it again.
