This guy is just like me. Tosses the instructions to the side and gets to work. I love it!
Spot on that. Not so hard as to make one of those if you had a tube bender, welder and a tape measure.
Personally, I would put a bead of silicone around the gap. You are going to get leaves, whirlybird seeds, bugs, dust, dirt, grime BEHIND that nice Italian bracket which means .. corrosion and rust. This thing could also use a thick rubber gasket with adhesive on BOTH sides, then bolt the plate, and cover the gaps with silicone. Rust ruins these nice Land Rovers. I have a 1985 Land Rover 110 Defender with a severe rust problem. Otherwise, good video.
Did you ever get the door plate on and did go ok
Got one for my defender 90 and having a problem fitting it the plate that I have looks to small got any picture of the finished job you done
Thanks Steve
No did you get all your bolts for the back plate because I didn't get all mine
Hi mate did you finish the carrier I'm just seeing where I need to put my back plate, do I have the arm slightly to the left or middle
Hi , just wondering how the wheel carrier has been holding up since you made the video ? , would you buy it again or would you have opted for one of the cheaper options ... I only ask , as im look at a swing away for my 110 .. cheers
That looks awesome mate ... so much better than that weight on the back doors ... do they make the for the disco ??

I dunno Matt, Speak to Steve @ www.Raptor4x4.co.uk
Nice job Neil...surprised you didn't use any sealer on the top three holes though.
Hi Steve, I'll take the top bracket off again when the upper panels get painted, I'm still debating whether they get replaced with van sides, I have the option as I have both, I will seal them then... TBH it seemed the best place to store the carrier while I delt with the rest of the project..
I didn't realise you hadn't finished it tbh.Now thats a hard decision to make ,Van sides are more secure but done look as nice as one with glass.
second, where do you source your doors from?
do they make a rear tire carrier that doesn't involve drilling new holes in your truck?
what an asinine way to fix the support plate to chassis. Four washers??? Surely they could add welded on spacers with enough play to the tab holding rear body to chassis cross member. How much extra would this cost??
spacers ! yet another mud trap 🙃
