I worked the FedEx cup championship one year in ATL. While walking over towards the practice range one morning, I heard a sound I never heard before. Rory, Adam, Finau, etc.were all practicing. But it was Xander that had the most distinct sound with his irons. What a ball striker!
The secret sauce to this transition which results in shallowing of club, staying in posture and nice open hips: watch the pressure going into the left heel BEFORE the club stalls at the top at 12:45.
I’ve come back to this video many times and I’m now starting to realize a lot of the motion comes from the grip. I think it gets thrown into the “bowed wrist” category by many, but really it’s just a weakish grip and he really leads with the back of his left hand. Then just push the square club face through with the right
Lol no. Its the camera and angle creating the effect. Look up old Tiger woods highlights. Some shots look like shanks but they were pure and near the pin!
Most early extenders throw their hands away from the body - watch how his hands return at impact where the start at address - that's a power source as well as lag creator.
It's a very simple and efficient swing.
Not a lot can go wrong with it which means you can count on it when the pressure of competition mounts
This guy has such a beautiful swing. These slow motion vids are perfect to watch the wrist position through the swing. Perfect. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
I respect the professionals. The shots are fantastic and awesome. I respect you
Perfect swing he has. I love his swing. He uses his shoulder very effectively.

So many good elements to his swing, everything is neat and textbook….a great example to try to emulate. Excellent video, thanks!

Perfect backswing
Falling back to the left heel at the top is key.
one of my fav half asian dudes!
I love his tempo

pushing is slow, no pushing, maybe throwing is better terminology
He’s changed his swing and obviously it’s helped him win the his first major.
He did 3/4 swing as john ?
I know some were 3/4 swings, but he doesn't seem to hinge the wrist like most.
He still makes the lag though
His tempo and rhythm is next level
Looks like he tries to keep his right arm straight in the backswing. Is that useful for consistency?
Can anyone tell me what shoes he is wearing at 3:03
Found them, adidas adicross
His swing looks very similar to Jon Rahm's but with less exaggerated wrist bow
Longer too
Nice
很好的挥桿,若站得稍为再軽鬆些更好

is that the first shot a shank..??

It's a draw.

Standing closer to the ball will also assure an EE to arrive with hands closer to the body at impact, instead to throwing it out at the ball.
화이팅
He doesn’t have that pronounced lowing of the left hip that’s being taught
My shots...don't sound like that

stuck, will always be inconsistent
😂 he won two events this year goofball
Yea winning golf Medal, travelers, and genisis Scottish open is pretty inconsistent
his swing is one if not the most consistent because little lag and very even club movement
This might be the dumbest comment I've ever read on RUclips and that's fuckin saying something
