    It’s funny you mentioned Gentility Roy Alcryst since that’s what I’m running in the playthrough I’m about to finish.
    I agree with Pincer Attack and Halberdier - it’s much better than people give it credit for (the class has stupid high Dex for some reason - though a lot of units who you want to put in the class will still need some speed fixing just to make sure they don’t also get doubled.
    Swordmaster and Run Through is interesting. I don’t think it’s a *bad* class, but the lack of 2-range outside of Levin and emblem weapons hurts it a lot, and many units are fine with dropping the few points of speed to gain a bit more strength and access to 2-range from Hero instead. It can definitely work though, just like physical griffin can for some units.

    I am currently giving Berserker a real chance. The problem with the passive is that berserkers will just one shot their target and they are a glass cannon class, so if you run them like a glass cannon they are very good, but they needed a passive that goes with them being a glass cannon.
    Smash+ would be good if it was on a tank class like General or avoid tank class like Wolf Knight.
    If Berserker's passive was something like smash weapons can now strike first, but no longer knockback then it would be cracked.

      @@neonlove5456 use a silver greataxe as a berserker, unless you are an avoid tank lapis build, you will take a bunch of damage and then proceed to one shot the target because berserkers have so much str.

      @@MasterStacona What I'm asking is can you break distant enemies with Smash attacks using other enemies (even if you one round said enemies) That's the use case I'm trying to think of for Berserker.

      @@neonlove5456 As in you nuclear bomb an enemy with a silver great axe on berserker into another enemy, then that enemy that was not your target is broken?
      Avoid tank berserker Lapis build would be the only one that can do that, but if you had a true glass cannon berserker as well, the glass cannon could safely use a smash axe after for an easy double kill.
      That could work.
      Or even just avoid tank Lapis berserker nukes a target into another target to break and then a warrior can go for the kill on the second target with warrior passive.

    Thoughts on a Lindon Sniper Wrath crit build with radiant bow?
    Gave it a shot on my maddening run and he can be pretty crazy given proper setup. Obv there are stronger options/units but I find it to be a solid use case. Slapping micaiah on him for extra mag + staff bot utility also balances it a bit, while also letting him proc wrath himself with great sacrifice

    One scenario where Back at You has a significant impact is when attacking Corrupted Wyrm with Eirika using a Brave Bow. If the counterattack missed, it's a free damage. If not, there's the potential for two follow-up attacks, each with approximately a 30% chance of triggering the Back at You. This increases the chance of ORKO when not engaging

      Against wyrm I think radiant bow gets the guarantee doesn't it? Against griffin knights though that exact scenario has happened to me a lot making me appreciate Back at You a lot more than I initially did

    Run-through also allows the SM to ‘jump’ over flier only tiles, which while very niche is really fun to pull off (plus moving 3+ spaces through wyrms and Sombron leading to some stanky plays)

    Celine is a fast unit, the base stats are low on her class, but the stat caps are very high on her class. Growths are not great, but none of the tome classes have good growths outside of Hortensia's class, but she caps out at B rank.
    Void Grasp is not very good, part of which Ivy is kind of a bad unit. People use her for warp skipping since she is the only flying sage you can have, but in normal play she kind of sucks without some massive investment - which most people unconsciously are giving Ivy way more investment than they realize so they end up thinking she is this cracked out unit.
    Ignis has a higher proc chance than Void Grasp, does way more damage when it procs, is not dependent on the foe for its damage so it is consistent, and it is true damage. Plus Celine does not need hit fixing at all and has a natural high avoid (need avoid engraves if you want to become an avoid tank), all you need to do is give her 1-2 speedwings to bring up her base speed, but she can also eat every speedwing and become insanely fast since she is the fastest A rank tome user in the game.
    And she is very good with Leif and Celica which are the two least contested rings in the game, and can function with no engraves and the bare minimum for forging, makes her an insane unit that is extremely underrated. Leif completely build fixes her and make Bolganone weightless.

      @@pandabanaan9208 three houses is the worst fire emblem and every character was bland, boring, and forgettable - not to mention they are all blank slates so anyone can be anything you wanted.
      Engage is good since the character passives add uniqueness to characters and only 2 custom passive slots so you got to work what each character offers a lot more. Plus the characters themselves are way more interesting, lovable, and memorable both for their visual design and personalities.
      I remember Peri from Fates because of how much she stands out from the other characters, plus you got Elise and Camilla, two reasons why Camilla stands out for everyone...
      For the next fire emblem, i want all of the characters to end up with 3 character passives, still only have 2 custom passive slots, and master seal twice which would have a more defined mid and late game that way.
      And keep the same approach for character design as they did in Engage, people will think a lot differently about the character design (and world and story) when you have 13 more paralogues that are connected to that fire emblem world rather than be an anniversary celebration about past fire emblem games.

      @@pandabanaan9208 imagine the potential of someone like Etie who starts with her useless passive, but her 2nd passive was she eats food (for free) when finishing her action on an avoid tile, healing her and procing that +2str passive, and her 3rd passive was +1 range for weapons with 2 or more range (2-3 range killer bow, 2-4 long bow, 1-3 range spear, 1-3 range tomahawk, etc.).
      Now suddenly she is an amazing player and enemy phase unit with free healing, avoid tile bonus, bonus str for the enemy phase, and increased range to always counter attack.
      But would need to be paired with 2 advance class tiers to balance things out have the really op character passives for the late game only. i.e. level 10+ base class for first master seal, level 10+ advance class for second master seal into let's say Master Class

    I agree with “No distractions”’s placement, but I have had one build pop off on sniper and thanks to this skill.
    I had Yunaka (other units with higher strength would probably do better tho) go on sniper, no emblem ring but instead Claude’s S rank bond ring to give extra range to bows.
    She ran a skill set of bow focus & Brute force (DLC run without star sphere though). She killed almost anything. Mostly 70-80% crits that deal 4x damage, always 100% hit even against Gryphon knights.
    There’s definitely better builds and if you’d use a unit with better strength you could run wrath instead of brute force for 100% hit 100% crit, but she did really well anyways

      yeah i was gonna comment Claude's wind god is pretty much the only way to make No Distractions effective... but even then why not just give it to Alcryst and do you really need multiple infantry bow units

    Merrin sniper on Chrom (I know u don't usually use DLC emblems), but give her a try, really fixes her damage enables radiant bow and crazy dmg from crits on killer bow

    I just realized that you can just fight the DLC paralogues at / near level cap then you literally get zero exp and do not need to worry about over leveling.
    Second seal when you are done with your DLC paralogues that you wanted the rings for.

    Pretty good tier list. I don't disagree with any tier placements. At most I'd move careful aim past Golden Lotus or Pass since it works very well with Canter and a refresher letting you cheat the no movement condition. And now I'm very interested in a Diamant Sol stacking run, sounds fun.

    I've enjoyed my Sniper Madeline w/ Lyn in maddening. Just gave her Canter and Starsphere, Brave Bow and Killer Bow and she one rounds everything.

    I would rate Reforge D tier (a liability), It actually got Mauvier killed during your No Somniel, no Ring run because -10 hp. Also it doesn't actually prevent you getting broken, it just removes the break debuff after combat, so putting your unit in a position to get broken with a Royal Knight next to them is already a bad idea as they won't counterattack for that combat. Chain Guard/bonded shield are far superior options since it actually prevents the unit getting broken, allowing you to counterattack in the same combat.
    I think most of the Class skills in Engage are really underwhelming that most S tiers can be dropped to A tier or lower, like Grasping Void might be nice free dmg, but Ivy is still the best unit in any efficient/LTC run even if she didn't have that skill. If you don't do any self restricted run, I usually think "well I'm ORKOing with forged Bolganone anyway, I don't need Grasping Void."
    I'm a big fan of Griffin "clear the way", it let's any grounded unit like Timerra and Seadall just walk over C16 rising water and C17 fire tiles unimpeded, so you don't just walk 1 tile at a time through them.
    No idea how how high I rate Merciless when you need to combine at least 2 units to kill 1 enemy since the 1st unit needs to apply the break debuff for this skill to work. It has very narrow applications, but they are really good that even LTC use them on a few occasions . At least it helps that Warrior is a great class in Engage.
    For me, the truly worthy S tier are those that really make the class or adds something worthwhile a lot of the time: Special Dance, Brave Assist and World Tree
    Brave Assist is the key in any kind of Self restricted run like 0% growth, no Ring run or something
    World Tree extends the usage of staves (especially important before Ancient Well made Warp/Rescue not limited.)
    Special Dance is free stats to another ally of your choice.

      Merciless can convert a staff bot use into a damage boost worst case scenario. If you run a full team of hard carries you diminish the power of each as you go above 6-8 hard carry builds so realistically your team should have utility units.
      The nice thing about Reforge is it doesn't consume an action. It is true Chain Guard is better but a reforge only costs 10 HP and the RK could apply it passively while doing other things. It could also double as a passive support bot if it had a useful A rank support.
      Now is a Royal Knight better than a Martial Master? Maybe, depends on the use case, both have staff access, MM can be made to 1 round with Lunar Brace, both are somewhat fast, one has more move etc. I want to test it more before ruling it out, I think it is underutilized overall.

    If you think sword master is good(which it very well could be I haven’t used it that much but I trust you on it) try building around bow night it has the same stats except 5% more deck and 1 more move.

      I could try running BK. Swordmaster is also a backup though which is nice. BK would just have the added feature of running spear, axe or sword and bow which I don't think PHYS bow is very good in this game. Situationally it can be, Radiant seems to demolish Phys bow's hopes and dreams though

    If you kill every last one of them using only base game maps, you can over level easily too. Drawback, you over level your army; Pro is that it is very challenging and fun to figure out how to kill every last one of them on the map.
    By end game, most of the enemy units are stat capped anyways which is where the true challenge is at.
    DLC does not break the game at all, DLC rings are worse than base game rings until you figure out how to really make some of them work like Hector and Chrom, but their power is not obvious at all.
    What breaks the game is level scaling. It makes sense for the skirmishes to have level scaling, but they are also fixed levels so if an unit is already too high of a level then they basically get no exp for making kills. Where as the DLC paralogues always match your highest level unit upon entry of the paralogue which results in the maps always give full exp, they did this for post game to have the maps always give a challenge, but I wish there was an option to have a fixed level for the paralogues so we don't have to do the DLC paralogues first before anything else so that the army does not over level and can do base game and DLC paralogues in any order.
    The problem is specifically and only the level scaling aspect to the DLC paralogues, but there are work arounds.
    Also, just ban Bonded Shield and Starsphere inherit. If I just never use them then I don't need to worry about them being in the game.

      They break the game because it gives you rings when you are not supposed to have rings. The entire difficulty of Chapter 10 is not having Emblem Rings and when you have more rings it makes that entire period a lot easier.

      @@goroadachi9489 That is Chapter 11, 10-11 are joint chapters.
      The 2 chapters you lose rings on are not even hard to begin with, chapter 11 is just a panic mode because you also lose rewind at the same time so it feels harder than it is.

      @@MasterStacona You can just use save states on Chapter 11, but considering the amount of enemies on chapter 11 and the fact that you are essentially under a time limit, and the fact that you probably only have at most 3 promoted units at that point, having extra rings really removes the balance. Especially with something like Tiki making 2 units nigh invincible and Edelgard giving you 3 actions, and Veronica possibly giving another action. Also having access to skills like Reprisal, and Spd Plus before Lyn even comes into play.

      @@goroadachi9489 you have 4 master seals, with which your carries will have. chapter 11 is not hard.
      And you can select what rings you actually want to use for that run, you can also just not do the dlc until after chapter 11 too.
      Veronica, Tiki, and Three Houses are not very good rings and the best case for Tiki is general with ice breath, and you become even more of a tank when you engage.
      Strongest aspect for three houses is when you have Dimitri's block.
      Veronica can offer for some unique and fun builds if you get creative with her.
      Chrom, Hector, and Camilla are the better of the DLC rings once you figured out how to use them.

      @@MasterStacona Not very good rings? Yeah because having 3 actions isn’t good, and having better growths and a really good dragon form isn’t good, and having another dance isn’t good. Hell Camilla gives you extra movement, Hector isn’t that good but he’s still an Emblem ring, Chrom is good for support only. So yes, they break the game, and saying just don’t use them is completely missing the point.

    Sorry but I disagree with zelestia skill because I’ve used her on all my runs and she destroys everyone with sword power 5 with ericka. She does not make the levin sword worse you’re just using it wrong because I’m high res targets that aren’t close to your mele fighters she can go around with flying and use the levin sword against high res targets with great effectiveness proct with bravery. In addition she would make effective weapon swords even more effective because most of those enemies have low res so the average of both def and res would be much lower than def on its own when you use say a wyrmslayer or amorslayer, and all of Erickas weapons swords!!! They hit for big damage on every single type of enemy. Except human halberdiers or something random. Hope to hear your thoughts on this.

      If you give any fast unit SP5 with Eirika they will 1 round anything. Her passive doesn't do anything best case scenario and on average hurts her.
      Eirika gives Levin Sword +8 damage. Mag+3/Bravery +5 damage. You shouldn't need this and Sword Power 5 to kill, you should only really need one or the other. You are overfixing damage in this case.

    Sniper's passive is +10 crit on a very easy condition, especially with Claude's bond ring or Chrom's ring, on the highest dex class in the game which means very high base crit already.
    Sniper Anna with a corrin or camilla engrave Radiant bow will always be above 50% crit.
    If you stick corrin engrave on a killer bow on sniper kagetsu and lunar brace+ he rocking that 90% crit so now he is one shotting everyone.
    On top of the fact that extremely high dex also means very accurate, so you can reliably hit the high avoid enemies without any hit passives or engraves. High avoid enemies usually have high luck too so your crit rate goes down as a result against those.
    Sniper is very underrated and is a lot better than you think it is. You don't need to enemy phase if you kill everything in your movement range anyways.
    Also Alcryst's class just sucks, he is not that good of an unit and if you relying on RNG for kills then crits will actually just kill your target where as Luna procs will just make Alcryst deal no damage to actually deal damage, but he needs a Luna proc and Crit to kill his target where as you can have a good unit as a sniper to always kill his target with a crit and sniper makes crit builds more reliable.

    Golden Lotus is bad because you can make Alfred a great knight or general and he would have significantly more defense without random chance for 50% less physical damage, especially since defense can make you just not take damage at all, he always takes damage even with his passive proc. And Generals cannot be broken so he can use his wait for STR passive.

      ​@@ProtoTypeFM It's true that enemy phase damage potential goes down, but there is still some value in a unit taking 0 damage. Obstruct is useful for blocking or disrupting enemy movement. It can delay enemies, bring other enemies forward, and cause the AI to fight a certain unit. A unit that takes 0 damage can situationally be the same thing but not disappear after a hit. And being able to player phase certain enemies without taking damage is nice. Enemies may still attack if there is a chain attack.
      And there's the classic Ch19 chokepoint where even if the enemies can't damage the unit, they kindly run in range of 2 or 3 ranged attacks.
      Although it's feasible against only the weaker physical enemies starting in the mid game (Wolf Knights, Swordmasters) and doesn't really work against most of the axe users. Obviously there's Bonded Shield or Ike tanking which are going to be almost always better, and those big Def tanks are pretty much guaranteed to die in two hits from magic.

    Swordmaster's passive sucks though.
    Here is the thing about swordmaster.
    Griffin Knights are faster and can use staves, and specifically for sword Griffin has more magic for Levin Sword.
    Wolf Knights are tankier while being just as fast and offer an utility passive with the -2 movement debuff and can use silver daggers for poison-stacking for team might fixing and is a ranged physical weapon that might as well be unbreakable, and dagger forging is a way to might fix units too.
    Baseline, swordmaster is fine, but lacks a true identity and is very easily replaceable for something better in Engage and with no ranged physical swords makes them a nightmare to make use of their backup unit aspect.

    Halberdier is way too conditional to be good, you could just be a [high STR character] General instead with a Silver Smash Weapon or Brave Weapon and one shot your target without any setup while taking way less damage with the base def and def growth, and cannot be broken. Halberdier is not very tanky, has less damage than a general, and does not involve placing your units is stupid positions that either risk units getting killed or taking an insane amount of damage.

    Swap is very useful to have, you can play risky and get the squishy to safety with swap.
    The real passive to Generals though is unbreakable status since Swap is an active.
    And General is the strongest class in the game, you are just playing it stupidly. Use strategy in a strategy game.

      I disagree because even though unbreakable is nice to have its 4 movement and it’s actually very apparent because a lot of maps have pillars bushes fires and they literally have no movement and the swap ability is situational and doesn’t work all the time compared to gentility/bravery that works all the time no matter what. Don’t call people stupid if your argument isn’t strong either. The best class is always opinion base because too many factors

      @@JuanMorales-uf9li What? If a class had no weaknesses then either it is not good at anything or extremely overpowered if it is good at something.
      Louis walk up and one shot the mage with a spear or brave lance.
      Other than that, there are not very enemy mages in Engage as a whole to worry about. The most you will see in one place is Leif's paralogue and you just mow them down with a silver greatlance override.

    Chaos style is not very good.
    You either have less damage than a Sage and give up the ability to use Nova or is a lot slower than a Griffin Knight, while giving up staves utility in both situations.

      +3 speed in a vacuum is good, B tier as a whole, very average, good passive.
      The problem with it is that you have to be a mage knight.
      Everything a mage knight can double, a sage can double; everything a sage cannot double, a mage knight cannot double.
      Celine's class is the only A rank class that is fast enough to double what both classes cannot double. And she can still use staves and has Ignis for extra damage.
      And then Sage just does more damage than mage knight and better hit rate and still uses staves.

      Nova is not very good. It's basically Dire Thunder but heavier, less accurate, only 1-2 range, and with atrocious availability (post Ch23 only). Both are player phase only when you could build a unit that one rounds well enough both phases, which most magic users can do easily on Mage Knight without going for Sword Power. (And Dire Thunder is not very good late game)
      And the 'less damage than a Sage' is such an overstatement. It's -2 base magic for the classes, and then only 5% Mag growth loss. Griffin loses a lot more just from the class base stats.
      I suppose it's fair to say Nova is good in a no somniel run simply to have a brave tome for someone.

      No she isn't? Celine is literally way slower than MK Pandreo, Chloe, or Anna. Even without accounting for Chaos Style. Stop spreading misinfo.

      @@ProtoTypeFM Celine and mage knight pandreo have the same speed, and Pandreo is -1 speed cap and mage knight speed cap isn't that high. Celine's class' speed cap is very high.

    Sol is too unreliable to be good. If it was weaker with a much higher proc chance then it be a different story.

      1/3 to 1/4 when you proc several combats/can double on EP is not as unreliable as it seems. Even at 1/5 if Diamant Doubles and gets attacked 5 times, he has a good chance of seeing it twice.

      @@IcedCoffeeGaming For 1/3rd chance you need dex+5, speed/dex+5, and a ring with dex on the stats.
      At least Diamat's class is like an altered Warrior and he has a hit passive for axes, which the axes help might fix him. So Diamat on his default class is a solid, passable unit... B tier.
      Sol in the past would be on units with 40+ SKILL and it has been severely nerfed in Engage and I think it had increased SKILL scaling too and wasn't 1x scaling like in Engage.
      Plus brave weapons were enemy and player phase, but they were not balanced at all and were extremely overpowered.
      Diamat could be high A tier if Sol was 25% healing instead of 50% with 2x DEX scaling. He could have the same dex growth and cap and become way stronger with that change.

    Royal Knight is F tier.
    This is just a curse effect, you take damage with no benefits since the unit still gets broken.
    In terms of Royal Knight growths, it is just a flightless lance griffin knight where you get damaged for free.
