    Thank you for making this video. I just got mine today. Freezing my ice for tomorrow. The instructions looked a little intimidating. You put the content together nicely. My KitchenAid mixer is 30yrs old. They last forever. Love your black cat. Peace and Love

    Just purchased one from QVC and it’s on sale. Right now 7/03/2022 has an extra 15% promotional coupon for first time buyers. Also, it comes with 8 ice containers.

    Can you use ice cubes vs ice block?

  • @honeymilkbun9000
    @honeymilkbun9000 Год назад +1

    Hi! I was wondering if you could put normal ice in it instead? I have a large party I wanted to use this for and if I can only put the pucks in it’s gonna take forever with this 😭

  • @thefarkoss
    @thefarkoss 2 года назад

    Any idea where to get more of the cups to shave the ice in? Or a comparable 3rd party? 4 isn't enough!

      Kitchenaid's website sells the ice molds. But I just "harvest" the ice from the molds... meaning once they are frozen, I pop them out, store them into a big container that I keep in the fridge, and fill up the molds again to freeze.

    How much shaved ice can you make using all the attached cups?

    • @thehaphazardhobbyist
      @thehaphazardhobbyist  2 года назад +2

      Each cup is about 1 serving. Depending on where you buy the attachment, it comes with either 4 or 8 cups. They recommend "harvesting" the ice molds by popping them out once they are frozen, and saving them in another container. Then making more molds. We have a large Tupperware container that we keep in the freezer and it fits about 10 ice molds (plus the 4 in the ice cups).

    Can you use ice cubes from fridge or do you have to use the ice containers it came with

    • @thehaphazardhobbyist
      @thehaphazardhobbyist  Год назад +2

      The ice puck holder engages into the ice puck at the top and then it spins the puck as it passes the blade and shaves at the bottom. I think that if you tried to use regular ice cubes, it would be very unstable as it spins and could potentially damage the unit. I haven't tried to use regular ice cubes, but I also wouldn't take the risk.

    Too much trouble making shaved ice. Have you seen those Asian shaved ice machine? Don't know what you call it but it's so easy to operate and compact too.
    It has a handle which pushes any ice blocks thru the razor and viola!...you get similar results.

  • @SolarizeYourLife
    @SolarizeYourLife Год назад

    It is too bad you cannot adjust the blade, you can only change out the blade...you do not have to wait and temper the ice...
    I think my $25 manual shave ice machine works just fine and I can adjust the blade (not easily but it's doable)...

    • @thehaphazardhobbyist
      @thehaphazardhobbyist  Год назад +1

      I find that the manual ice shavers are not as fine & powdery as what this attachment can do. Also, it's nice to not have to manually crank the machine if you are shaving multiple blocks of ice.
