- Small Garden Office Build, low cost and effective. Full project cost around £1,500 including electrics and interiors. Second hand uPVC doors and windows. Non visible outer walls have membrane and 15 year roofing felt for maintenance free reasons. Interior has insulated cavity on walls and ceiling. Rhino Decks used under base of office to keep whole building off the ground.
Any questions feel free to comment. Apologies for the some of the shaky videos (windy day). - Хобби
Awesome work. What are the dimensions including height?
Hi John, from memory it was 2.4m x 2.4m and 2.3m high
Great build, really enjoyed watching. Like the foresight of membrane and felt for end walls you can't then get to. Thanks for the vid.
detailed commentary would have made this a great video for DIY...
Jay where you get your door from buddy? with frame I'm looking and seeing £900 no way I'm paying that for a uPVC door
Hi JMO, It was a second hand back door. £100 on Facebook marketplace. I didn't start the office until I had the door and window so I could customise it to their size.
Thank you for sharing this video. 🌞
What an absolutely incredible talent you have. I'm blown away - this kind of knowledge and execution is such a fantastic skill to have and I sir envy you!
This is a really good build. What did you wrap it in (before you clad it)?
Hi Martin, it was a waterproof membrane.
NICE VIDEO....HAD TO MUTE THE LONG MUSIC.
He is way too slow to build this shed.
Such a great build. It would probably look odd but I'd be inclined to have the door opening outwards just to save a bit of space inside. Thanks for the video.
Might not be up to fire code standard - if there were to be a fire inside, then it would create a vacuum and seal the door shut or be incredibly difficult to open from the inside…..but I agree - I’d like that too!!
Hi, I’m basically copying you haha. What wood stains did you use? It looks quite natural.
Great video . What did you put on top of the felt for the 2 end walls you couldn't clad and why?
Hi Chris, membrane, long life felt, then used some pvc strips to help keep the felt up as its very heavy. I did this as I knew I would never be able to treat or maintain the inaccessible walls and wasn't too bothered about what they looked like.
@@JayJayLorenzo thanks for the response Jay. Can you also tell me what did you use underneath the floor base ( the black brackets?? ) what is their proper name and where can I find them? Cheers
Hi Chris, these are rubber cradles made by Rynodeck . I used them not only to lift the wood off the ground slightly but also as a levelling solution as the concrete pad had a few dips in it.
@@JayJayLorenzo Hi Jay, just a thought - whilst I'm sure the height is in compliance with planning (2.5m for permissable development) and whilst you do not need building regs approval for a development less than 15 m2, the one thing that really needs to checked out is the compliance to boundaries. Building control clearly state that if the building is within 1 metre of a boundary the materials used need to be substantially non-combustable. I would strongly advise checking building regs if you plan to build within 1 metre of a boundary as you could be made to either modify or even completely remove the finished building.
@@mikeware-lane1347 the non combustible rule only applies to buildings of dwelling or those between 15m2 and 30m2
Nice Job!
What were the things you put under the floor joists to lift it off the concrete base?
Ryno deck rubber supports
Real Good Build here. 🌞
Do you have heating in there as well ?
And does it use a lot of electricity?
Cost now?
Hello Jay! What a fantastic build. You have me feeling like I could build the same in 20 mins!! 😂! How has the office held up a year later?
Hi great build. Can I ask how you insulated the inside. Also what screw types and sizes did you use did you have to drill pilots?
Hello Jay, Thanks for the great video. Can you tell me what type of brackets did you use for the flooring?
Hello JayJay! So grateful for a video of the whole construction process. We live in the NL and were wondering - as the UK also has a considerable wet season - if you find the Rhino decking is performing as you had hoped. Also, did you install a gutter of some sort? Thanks in advance for your time. Kudos for a super job done!!!
Interesting build so was it ply, membrane, felt then battens? What was the rationale for using felt and unclad battens and how has it held up?
Nice! Did you design it yourself?
Hi obalitas, yes I designed it to fit the space I had
Hii
Is there any chance you could give me the a list of items you used to make this little house? I have This would be much helpful as I would love to make lots and as much as possible for the homeless.
Fantastic
This is great. What a beautiful build. I’m just about to start my own self-build of similar dimensions. Was it felt and membrane on your inaccessible external walls? No ply or anything extra?
Do you have pictures of it furnished?
Can you send me the plan?
Hi Ovidiu, for this project, the plan was in my head. Size is 2.4m x 2.4m .
@@JayJayLorenzo Inside, what did you use for sound insulation?
Can't do one for me can you?
What size was the office, looks similar to what we have planned.
2.4m x 2.4m

What was the thickness of the wood for the main frame
Frame work was 38mm x 63mm studs. Osb was 15mm for walls, 18mm for roof and floor. Roof studs were 100mm x 47mm
Sorry 12mm osb for walls, not 15mm
@@JayJayLorenzo Thanks for getting back to me! Really appreciate it.
