There is only one Hendrix. There is only one Frusciante. The difference is John keeps Jimi's spirit alive through his songwriting and guitar playing! There is no vs :-)

there are 1000s of players.... 10s of thousands.. surf youtube
There is a guy in every town playing that crusty Hendrix crap that Frusciante has been spewing for 25 years. The guy makes alot of noise, he is sloppy as fukk... But I would say the top guitar players in the world right now are Johnny Hiland, glenn proudfoot. But there are 1000s of guys from the 80s that smoke him. Basically all the greats are still playing. Jeff Beck, Steve Morse, EVH, Dimeola, Malmsteen. The true pioneers of guitar wizardry
Frusciante was always cliche and sort of goofy. He looks stupid and he is a very basic vanilla safe player.

+ciaran fay Let's face it, Anthony is a personality, and was a founding member of the band.... But he is by far the easiest replaced. His vocals were never really any good (he even admits), constantly forgets lyrics and as he has gotten older, he sounds god awful. John was tough to lose, and although he can never truly be replaced, Josh has done an admirable job. Flea and Chad are at the top of their profession.......

He maybe not is the most technical for some but to me he has the whole package. There will never be another Frusciante. An really good example of his awesomeness is the various live solos on 'Don't Forget Me'. I will never forget those. They gives me shivers everytime i listen to them. Thanks to you Sir Frusciante and ofc Hendrix as well. Flea is also on another level when it comes to slapping the bass. RHCP is when of my GOATS as a band. Overrated blah blah... There is a reason there as well. Before the beginning and after the ending! 😎🌟🔥

+Joseph Reisman Mate, you oviously know fuck all about John Frusciante. Frusciante leaves TONS of amazing tracks that are as innovative as Jimi, they both inovated a lot with the instrument, but John got to live longer, he explored many more genres, more instruments, and innovated just as much, if not more. You are fucking idiotic to say that Frusciante is just a cheap gimmick when you know jack shit about him. I don't usually get this annoyed about ignorant people but oh how dumb of a statement that was. I do not expect you to understand but who knows ?

They are two different types of guitarist, but as you can see the playstyle of Frusciante originated with Hendrix. Hendrix has perfect pitch, which means he can recreate most if not all the music he hears, even sounds on his guitar like bombs going off, a woman screaming, planes in Vietnam, the man was able to express every range of emotion on the guitar like no one alive today. Turn on any 90s rock and you'll find influences of Hendrix in Pearl Jam, Funkadelic Parliament, hell even recently John Mayer copied his style verbatim. If Sony wasn't a bunch of money grubbing whores his tracks like 'Angel' would be available to listen to and learn from today perhaps even inspire more minds to toy with the guitar.

I wish to take nothing away from Mr. Frusciante for he is certainly an artist in his own right, and I prefer to enjoy music and musicians on their own terms. Pitting musicians and musical styles against each other is rather pointless I feel, but I will offer a single opinion as to why I prefer Hendricks. Frusciante seems to be driven by the music behind him as Hendricks tends to drive the music itself. Think on that a while and see if you don't agree.

John is in my top 10 guitarists. This is the thing though. Jimi was 27 when he died. 27. He never reached his full guitar potential the way john has as an old man. He is almost twice as old as hendrix ever was. Yet hendrix was the innovator/caveman of all of these so called guitar gods go to stuff on stage. I don't think the comparison is close or fair to frusciante. 27 years old mind you, when guitar technology was relatively barbaric. Hendrix is guitar "Adam," they'll never be that good or original again.
