India was mildly Fabian socialist (or as Indians call it Nehruvian socialist) until 1991 when poverty and high debt forced it to liberalize its economy by IMF. Now, India is getting progressively more capitalist every year and has been growing at a rapid pace with massive poverty reductions (220 million people out of poverty since 1991 according to World Bank estimates).
