It was such a great time to be a kid. The world seemed to have so many creative ways kids, teens and adults could all enjoy themselves. Entertaining movies with practical effects. Animated movies/shows galore. If they used CGI it was used intelligently. I really miss the Vibe of that Era. The creativity that came from that era. I really hope we find a way to reconnect with it because the world seems like it really needs it right now. I mean just look at the aesthetics compared to now? Things have somehow become so bland, bleek, and minimalism that it doesn't even make since. Most Old house's/building's/uúnique shop's are gone. Interesting oddities like drive in movies, indoor fun zones, arcade's, magazines that came with a demo disc to try out game's, blockbuster/Hollywood video, McDonald's had N64's, you could preview music before buying it, they had great kid's toy's, Roller Rink's, Garbage pale kid's card's. You get the point. I want to reignite that feel sort of like Retro-Futurism or that Y2K Vibe compared to this current Dystopian pessimism that seems solely focused purely on capitalistic agendas. Our Quality of Life should be better than this.
There's nothing quite like the look and feel of hand drawn animation. Price and labor make it mostly unfeasible now, but hopefully someday they'll be able to emulate it to the point we can't tell the difference!
I personally think they should remake Roger Rabbit, but make it an accurate adaptation of the original book. Sure, it would probably be rated R, and it would probably bomb, but I sure would like to see it.
It’s so sad that we will probably never get a sequel or prequel to Who framed roger rabbit, so many legal issues for Disney to make another a movie, if Disney could now would be a great time to make another film or even reboot ! No other film has done animation interacting with real people as good as Roger Rabbit !
I actually had a VHS tape of all the shorts but the Kitchen one he botched, which is kinda a call back to them never finishing it. They all have true endings. And this might be a mandela effect, but the original VHS of the movie had him botching the hospital short, and not the kitchen one. The Kitchen opener seems to be the tv edit that streaming services use. No, I never and still haven't seen Dick Tracy from the beginning, I only ever caught it on tv during the scene with all those weird looking mobsters introductions.
I think the reason for not seeing Roger Rabbit more is the cost of development. Think about out it, the first short was the most expensive short that was produced. Also, the rights nightmare of having all of the animated characters together. On top of that the death of Mel Blanc in 1989. So the original voices of so many characters going away. Disney, out of respect for voice actors has the characters appear, but without a voice, think "The Sultan" in Aladin. Plus, the more adult jokes may make the executives of the time a bit squeamish to bring back Roger. We got "Buttons and Mindy" which had the same kind of plot as the Roger Rabit Shorts, without the rights issues. So, I simply think it was the cost of rights, and wanting to respect the legacy of Mel Blanc that reduced the desire to produce another Roger Rabit Film.
This is one of the few instances where I would like a follow-up in some form, but if it never happens, I'm totally fine with it. It's legacy is so big I'm not sure anything could live up to it!
They kind of did a spiritual succsessor with the Chip n' Dale: Rescue rangers movie with the whole mixing animation with physical reality with outdated cartoon character movie stars thing. If anything that movie shows the concept still works.
I really don’t care what people deem acceptable! Roger and Jessica are icon gems who deserve respect and comebacks! Cartoon Violence and Sexiness have their places in animation! It’s not only for little kids (who aren’t that naive as adults treat them like!)
Disney will ALWAYS find a way to bring back Jessica. They've quietly had her on store shelves for decades now. Go into Art of Disney right now, and you very well could find a statuette or drawing with her on it. Even in the 00's, I'd still see the occasional Jessica themed clothing at the parks if you knew where to look. She has never stopped making them money. I understand toning her appearance down in an area for kids (even if I don't fully agree with it), but Disney also likes money. If they can continue to market Jessica merch to adults and get away with it, why stop now?
i will say this, compared to P.L. Travlers (who hated disney's mary poppins), i will say that gary k. wolf was quite a sport with disney when trying to bring roger to the limelight, the only negative beef between him and disney was residuals for the movie since he wrote the original novel, but he's been more optomistic about sequel ideas. his mickey and roger movie seems more creative than whatever remake/sequel comes out in the following decade.
@@ItsTheGooseItsTheGoose yup, i’m well aware. i mean i will give him this, it’s better than copy and pasting a disney animated classic but with realistic animals.
Quite simply, the old Disney, the Disney we loved fondly back in the day, is long dead. The Disney of today would never allow or even have a single iota of bravery and creativity to create something else like Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
I wonder how many of the possible ideas for using Roger Rabbit were used up in the television series Bonkers. While never explicitly stated they're the same universe, it features some of the same concepts, such as cartoon characters existing in the real world, and the main character having a background as an actor. It even features a zany toon main character paired up with a grumpy real human. Though of course being animated he's technically a cartoon too, but not a "toon", who tend to be wackier.
it was a lightning in a bottle type movie. and fair or not using any existing IP is a double edged sword. Sure you get the existing fans interested in it to a degree by default, but at the same time they will be comparing it to what they already know of the existing IP. And the more the IP already existed the more there is to compare it to for better and worse. Especially when you're doing big dramatic changes which im sure current disney would do vs the old style of roger. I mean look at spider man. the cartoons and movies are all so different between the different versions of each other and I'm sure anyone watching one of them would compare it to their first and/or favorite version. I know I do.
I wonder if a sequel would include modern cartoon characters alongside Roger. They already used the classic ones; I could see them replacing Bugs and Mickey with Moana and Stitch. Maybe it could work. Who knows!
i thought it was because... 1. Bob Hopkin is dead 2. Kathleen Turner can't use the same voice she did to voice Jessica 3. They would use CGI and not hand drawn designs.
Never say never. Hollywood is on an aggressive nostalgia kick. We already saw roger in chip and dale: rescue rangers. I'd give it 5 years or less before there's an unfortunate sequel. i say unfortunate because either A disney will do the hybrid 2d animation with 3d animation. ( to me its not too appealing, certain characters don't mix well together) or B its all 2D but they include characters nobody wants to see, the writing could be bad and instead of it taking place in the 90s or 2000s it takes place in 2029. To me a 20 year time skip makes more sense, that's if they do a time skip. So yeah if they make a sequel or revive it in anyway then it shouldn't be surprising. Film studios these days care about money instead of the craft. Which is starting to become quite common.
The original cast and crew aging out of being able to helm the next project is what would concern me the most. Having new writers and new directors, you never know how it could turn out.
Took a toon from a old book ,brought him to life on screen. Instantly (almost) putting Him in a upper echelon with other Big Boy Mascots....Made a new character with age and we're all okay with that...Also I'm sorry i just smoked some weed so if this is nonsense i do apologize
I really feel that any Rodger movie should NO be a prequel What child of he 2020s would even know Toons from BEFORE the 40s the era a prequel would HAVE to be set in. a better idea would be to move FORAWRD and include toons from the 80s and 90s ones adults of today are nostalgic for. Also be shore to hand draw it and use physical pops on set. you would have to write Eddie off and make the movie about his child or grand child. It would be Space Jam 2 combined with Ghostbusters After Life with a hint of Ready Player One . But You would HAVE to avoid what went down with Smurfs and Chipmunks as those effects never felt real. A Rodger Rabbit cartoon has to Feel real at this point we would need to iron out or buy up multiple charter rights or do a new cartoon in Universe with the same basic idea. Chip N Dale had a good idea. I never saw it my self. Any movie you make CAN NOT be a Disney + exclusive that never comes to DVD If we did it now it might be easier to use a charter Disney fully owns and do a Disney / FOX / Blue Sky / Star Wars / Marvel crossover. Some possible candidates to bring Rodger back or bring back this style of cartoon I would suggest Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Co Starring with Tom Hank's Walt Disney Bonkers D Bobcat Lilo & Stitch in a sort of PG rated Deadpool style adventure Wreck-it Ralph Toy Story Some sort of new idea or do an every charter crossover. An other way to get Rodger back would be to hype people up on the WB side with Tiny Toons and Animaniacs. But since the CEO of WB hates animation, that aint happening. If Coyote vs Acme had happened we could have seen Rodger come back by now. I think the best idea would be to Do an Oswald movie in the style of "R2-D2 Beneath the Dome" as a sort of test to see if 2D can sell. Take a risk on it. See if people like it. YOU audience people really did screw over any chance for 2D by spreading all that hate over Wish. It was out most recent next hope. Though I have not seen it Im ready to call Rescue Rangers a spiritual successor.
There's so many possibilities for plots and settings for Roger to reappear in. He's such a malleable character, he can fit in anywhere. Ill even settle for cameos at this point!
To be truthful the cartoon interacting with human characters, was a gimmick that was still novel at the time. Today it is now overused, to be a success it will need to be Perfect, as many of the faults the original had, would no longer be dismissed because the visuals and interplay between real and fake characters was believable.
The acting is a concern for mine too; Bob Hoskins was nearly flawless in Roger. Watching the newest "Tom and Jerry", it reminded me how difficult it is to convincingly act with characters that aren't even there!
Plus, if some of the stuff gets answered, we need more answers so we could understand if they’re going to make a second who framed Roger rabbit I think the second one should be a time machine when I go back in time and then they have to find out who the mask person was at the end of the movie because then they could definitely have like the future past present sort of thing, it would totally work out a lot cooler and maybe even like another new ride for Disney World maybe but you never know with my kind of questions and I just like help leaving cool comments for like these sorts of reasons why so that way we can actually get like a who framed Roger rabbit too it was so rock and then. they could totally put Roger rabbit in other movies too maybe even like a spin off movie that would be cool like a different Disney spin off movie. maybe but you never know with those kind of questions either that’s why there are so many other unanswered questions of mine like are they even going to make a third who framed Roger rabbit and if not, then I’m gonna be very sad I’m just gonna have to try to make my own just to put them on the app called Stop Motion but hopefully we get like a second one well, maybe not like soon soon but hopefully soon buy like 2026 or 2027 I would love to see a second one just for the fun of it though
PS I know why they made that ride made her look like that they were trying to make her look like a detective like the dog detective from dog city, I can’t remember her name, but they were trying to make it more like that so they can get more like girls inspire to become more detectives plus I think that’s why they came up with more movies that also includes Elena of Avalor, and the Sofia, the first movie the one with Alayna of Avalor, because they were trying to expand more population with girls
The main problem is that Roger Rabbit isn't really a character but a parody of one, specifically the 1940s screwball cartoon animal. Aside from some bouncy moves, he has no actual personality. Those four short cartoons made after the feature were pretty bad considering how elaborate and expensive they were; they all had the same chase-the-baby story, just in different settings. Interestingly, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" was set in 1947, the year before UPA came along and decreed the humanoid animal character indulging in slapstick humor passe. Imagine Roger Rabbit in limited animation. Besides, we have so many RUclips correspondents around these days to tell us how racist all those 1940s cartoons were. And you know Jessica's not very highly in favor today, despite how many women have had plastic surgery in order to resemble her, and will probably have to redeem herself by "breaking her silence" about how she was sexualized back in the day.
I think Roger's personality in the movie was so heavily influenced by the plot we don't really get to see who he is outside of it. He may inherently be neurotic and tripping over himself, but I would be interested in seeing other, less explored sides to him!

Just imagine, at some point in the future, this will be in the public domain.
That will be a wild time to live in... ^^;
I never thought of that. What a day that will be!
I personally think they should remake Roger Rabbit, but make it an accurate adaptation of the original book. Sure, it would probably be rated R, and it would probably bomb, but I sure would like to see it.
That would be an interesting direction to go!
It’s so sad that we will probably never get a sequel or prequel to Who framed roger rabbit, so many legal issues for Disney to make another a movie, if Disney could now would be a great time to make another film or even reboot ! No other film has done animation interacting with real people as good as Roger Rabbit !
If the same care is applied, I'd be more than open to another Roger Rabbit movie. If it never happens, I'm surprisingly okay with that too!
I definitely feel the same Mr Goose !
In germany, we only know the movie. None other media with him has ever appeared here.
I hope you get the chance to watch them now!
I never caught it on VHS. That sure would be interesting if true, though!
Don't forget, we also has the short lived series from Disney "Bonkers" that was essentially Roger Rabit with new characters, that Disney owned 100%.
It's never too late to bring Roger back. Just saying!
I really don’t care what people deem acceptable! Roger and Jessica are icon gems who deserve respect and comebacks! Cartoon Violence and Sexiness have their places in animation! It’s not only for little kids (who aren’t that naive as adults treat them like!)
I just hope they're as funny as ever if they do return!
More Roger and Jessica in any capacity is always good with me!
i will say this, compared to P.L.
His idea is actually based on a 1952 movie called "The Stooge"! Seeing Roger and Mickey together in a movie (again) would be pretty neat!
It may just be a once in a lifetime production. If that's the case, I'm happy with only the original existing!
One of the most underrated cartoon series, and I don't mean just for Disney. That's on my very short list of shows I want to do a video on.
You forgot to mention his appearance in the recent Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers movie
He has made a few cameos over the years, it is true!
it was a lightning in a bottle type movie.
and fair or not using any existing IP is a double edged sword.
1. Bob Hopkin is dead
2. Kathleen Turner can't use the same voice she did to voice Jessica
3. They would use CGI and not hand drawn designs.
If Disney thinks it can make money from Roger, I doubt any of those would deter them from trying!
( to me its not too appealing, certain characters don't mix well together) or B its all 2D but they include characters nobody
wants to see, the writing could be bad and instead of it taking place in the 90s or 2000s it takes place in 2029.
You're not wrong!
A Rodger Rabbit cartoon has to Feel real
at this point we would need to iron out or buy up multiple charter rights or do a new cartoon in Universe with the same basic idea. Chip N Dale had a good idea. I never saw it my self. Any movie you make CAN NOT be a Disney + exclusive that never comes to DVD
If we did it now it might be easier to use a charter Disney fully owns and do a Disney / FOX / Blue Sky / Star Wars / Marvel crossover.
Some possible candidates to bring Rodger back or bring back this style of cartoon I would suggest
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Co Starring with Tom Hank's Walt Disney
Bonkers D Bobcat
Lilo & Stitch in a sort of PG rated Deadpool style adventure
Wreck-it Ralph
Toy Story
Some sort of new idea
or do an every charter crossover.
Finding out more about Judge Doom would be pretty neat!
I would guess there might be a fan movie but not a movie company make it.
I'd watch a fan movie! That would be extremely impressive.
Now I know
You certainly do!
I liked Disney's Bonkers more.
A great, underrated original series!
The narration is flat. It sounds like you barely like the conversation you’re having with us.
Thank you, I appreciate your input!
Jessica Rabbit is good, there's nothing wrong with her she did nothing wrong, people are babys
I'd like to see her back! She's one cool character!
@@ItsTheGooseItsTheGoose she's a hero in my eyes... hot women in any cartoon should not be removed, they can't control their body. women can't control the genetics of their natural body... don't show boobs or whatever (as in cover them, don't flat out remove boobs) Jessica Rabbit is good. she did nothing wrong
@@ItsTheGooseItsTheGoose she's a hero, she should did nothing wrong, women should not be removed or have their boobs complate removed (just covered up)
I wouldn't want to see it back only to be butchered.
If it's just a "one and done" film, I'm totally fine with that!
Just shut up about Roger Rabbit, and move on! Because, this Thame movie is overrated as fuck, and Disney shouldn’t have made it!
Somebody wants attention!
I personally liked it, but it's not everyone's cup of tea!
@@ItsTheGooseItsTheGoose Oh, fuck off with that bullshit.
Jeez LOUISE!!! What the hell did this movie do to you? Did it break into your home, and destroy your property and murder your family and pets or something? TAKE IT EASY!!!! Also, you're totally wrong, BTW.
Youth is wasted on the stupid.
Jessica is spared then, think about what they would do to her for the "modern audience".
If the ride is any indication, they're at least willing to acknowledge her which is a good sign! How they would portray her in a full-length movie is anybody's guess, though!
@@ItsTheGooseItsTheGooseThey need to change her back in the ride! Such decisions are nothing more than flawed, pandering, politically-motivated and show a complete misunderstanding, disrespect and disregard towards the characters!
Enough with the “cultural sensitivity”/“modern audience” crap! Such things don’t exist and logic and reason must go back to ruling the roost!
And companies like Disney must stop getting involved in politics!
I've never seen the rollar coaster or the camping ones
They're all really good!
