Nice clearly spoken tutorial. Often, I slow down a video to process what the creator's saying. I wanted to slow this down for the visual parts, then I decided not to because there was little to see, as far as watching your steps and your speech pace was wasy, (edit: oops, I meant "easy") to comprehend. BTW, You may want to upgrade your primary belt... I have a '94 GT6000 & 2000 GT3000, both equiped w/ a 50" mowing deck & similar Kohler V-Twin engines. I use the newer upgraded primary belt on both. Craftsman replaced that older belt #139573 with part #148763, it's thicker @ 5/8" & to compensate for it being a bit wider, it's approx. 3" longer @ 86". Thanks for the video.
Thank you for your helpful feedback! I have performed the primary belt upgrade to 148763. However, the belt got ripped up on the deck while in use following the upgrade. Have you had this experience or did it work?
This video is exactly what i need to help me replace the deck belt on my 46" Craftsman. The pictorials and written procedures in the manual are not so clear. Thanks for posting this video.
Hi the belt for the 139573 i got off Amazon burnt up after 1 use i inspected the belt and i found not only was it different then the one in the video but the belt itself was not even 1/2 but closer to 1/4 any possible alternatives to this belt
Thank you for your comment and sorry to hear about the problem you had! You raise a good point about inspecting the belt to ensure the correct size. A belt measuring tool might help. The marketing descriptions change over time on websites making it difficult to buy the correct replacement belt. You might begin with www.searspartsdirect.com to get the most recent part number and dimensions. Then, check on amazon.com for a description that matches. It is a good idea to buy from a couple of different manufacturers and then compare for the best match.
No, not necessary. The deck should be connected to the tractor to complete placement of Belt 139573. A rolling motion is needed. Please see minute 4:00 of the video.
Great video. This helped me a lot. But My drive belt 139573 is too loose. Is there an adjustment to tighten a pull for that belt that goes to the engine drive pully? The mower blades take a while to fully turn to the fast speed I need to cut. then slows in taller grass. Pease Help! lol thank you.
Thank you for your valuable feedback! What model tractor do you have? The Craftsman 917273021 Garden Tractor does not have a mechanism to tighten Belt 139573. You have to replace with a new belt. If Belt 139573 has gotten too loose, you probably ought to replace the deck belt too. Good luck!
Very helpful video. My neighbor has to replace both belts on his Craftsman 917.273121 mower and this video is exactly what we needed. Thanks.

Do I need to take the deck off to put belt 139573 on? I, for the life of me, cannot get it on while the deck is on.
