I absolutely agree about being nice to people. The world is quite/very unpleasant at present and if we can’t agree and support one another in knitting, crafting etc then there is no hope. Knitting and nattering has saved my sanity in very difficult times. I salute all you bloggers and thank you. Susan. .
It makes me think of how my mom always said, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.” Just good old wisdom. I wish she was still around for me to say, “Thank you, Mom; you are so wise,”
I love your podcast! I would love a Q and A, a shop tour..and anything else you want to show us. Thank you for your calm presence and kindness! I will be here! 🐑♥️🐑♥️🐑
You look so pretty with the Pressed Flowers cowl up near your face! I really enjoy when you film the little excursions around Cornwall. Thank you so much for taking the time to do that. Looking forward to seeing your shop. I enjoy hearing you talk about your life experiences as well as your knitting wisdom!!
I loved this episode. I felt like I just had a visit with a friend while I was knitting. I enjoy knitting podcasts and vlogs as they help me feel part of a community. It’s sad that some people can be unkind - we all had to learn sometime. It reminded me of a new widow’s walking group that I joined in my fifties. They were planning a weekend away and someone in the group said “we don’t want any sad people”. Needless to say, I found a “nicer” group! I’m 72 and have been knitting since I was about 10. I have NEVER steeked! You will motivate me to try I’m sure! I just finished “Sarkle” by Kate Davies, which is the pullover version of the cardigan you are knitting. I absolutely love It! Thank you very much for giving us your precious time. 💞from Vancouver (formerly from Surrey, England).
I so look forward to your vlogs! The colors in your Pressed Flowers cowl look so nice on you and your Juneau shawl is lovely. I think your content is just about perfect. I like seeing your projects, both FO's and WIP's. I also like hearing about what you're interested in knitting and the yarn (oh my!). I really like your choices for the Andrea Mowry striped sweater. Please keep sharing the Cornish countryside. It is so beautiful! Thanks for your gentle reminder to be kind. A very kind teenager who rode the school bus with me taught me to cast on and knit several decades ago when I was a little girl. I think of her quite often.
Such a treat to watch your lovely vlog. Knit and natter would be a great idea for content- anything to share the calm enjoyable informative things that are creative!
Thank you for this great podcast! You're very generous showing us around the woodlands, absolutely stunning !! Bailey is gorgeous, we had mostly Boxer dogs growing up in New Zealand. They're the most playful, affectionate creatures....I even loved Their slobber😂
Bailey is one handsome boy. Enjoy learning about different areas of the world. Good luck with the steeking. I'm still working up my courage to do that.
I just recently found your channel. I am enjoying your company. Thank you for the video of your boxer. I had a fawn colored boxer named Wylie. He was my best friend. He died in 2017 at the age of 11. I still miss him. Your dog reminded me of him so much...the way they act/act up. Boxers are very special. Looking forward to more videos. Suzanne
I love listening to your podcast Jane. I think you have the perfect balance. Especially love going on walks with you, you definitely live in a beautiful part of the world. Love your cowl, splash of colour is always flattering, I think I'll make one. Most crafters I have come across are lovely like you. Let's all be kind. Look forward to your next vlog.😊
Another lovely episode. I do love the “travelogue.” Such a gorgeous landscape. Topped only by the beautiful Bailey. Anytime I can see a dog on a podcast, I’m a happy woman. Thank you for sharing your dog and your countryside.
Your videos are so relaxing and well done! I enjoy the parts of England that you share. I lived in England for six years and really enjoyed it. Would love for you to show how to work some of the hints or stitches you talk about. Thank you for sharing your love of the yarn crafts and nature🙂💛
Thank you so much. I like to watch podcast for inspiration. I do this instead of tv . I’m retired. I live in Minnesota USA. I just celebrated 69th trip around the sun. I’m retired I knit every day. I live in the country with my husband and our 14 year old dog. I enjoy being outdoors. This winter was brutal with ice that has only just begun to melt making it dangerous to walk. Unpleasant really. When the frost is out of the ground the mud will have a chance to dry up. Ice mud… stripes is on my short list of knits I want to start. I’m working on Anker tee . Just finished Trinigan, Eye Dazzler and Lento all in the last few weeks. I have a few WIPS that I should look at but I want to cast on…summer knits are on my mind. I really enjoy seeing where you live. It’s like a little visit to Cornwall . I cannot think of questions to ask. I like to see what patterns other people knit and what yarn they choose. I rarely use the recommended yarn. Some of my yarn substitutions work better than others. It’s nice to see how the knitwear looks on other people too. One unique idea would be to show other people’s knits as well. Maybe that isn’t possible. I used to own a yarn shop. I had customers that of course had a different taste than I did, and I admired their choices as well. One of the things I loved about owning the shop was to see the perspective and choices others made. We would have knit alongs and knit the same pattern but all unique. I do have a question! What is your name? You have said no doubt but it is not in notes. My hearing isn’t the best and I must have missed this too. Thank you I’m grateful for your time.
Hi Sally. My name is Jane 😊 wow it sounds like you are a prolific knitter! I know everyone seems to have done the Lento but I haven’t yet so I must give it a try. Summer knits are on my mind too. Not sure what to knit yet but I will share when I do know 😉 I substitute yarn all the time too and I love to see how others interpret a pattern as well. 😊
Lovely relaxed podcast. Thank you. Quite sad to hear that new knitters are made to feel uncomfortable by experienced knitters. The community needs to welcome and embrace new knitters because without an expanding market yarn producers stop supplying and innovating. I can remember how limited the yarn market was in the 80s so we experienced knitters need to welcome new knitters.
So true! I love teaching new knitters and crocheters. Sometime they go onto be much more adventurous than me and I can learn from them then 🤞win win. Glad you are enjoying the vlog too 😊
Hi I really enjoy your vlogs and seeing Bailey and the countryside where you live. We have a dog also called Bailey who is nine years old. I have looked online at your shop and I will certainly shop for some yarn when I have finished all the projects I am currently working on( there are a few) 🙂. I am a retired general qualified nurse and enjoying time knitting and crocheting . Also above all spending time with our family and grandchildren. Keep up the good work and I look forward to your next blog. Jane x
HiJane, so enjoying your knitting vlog, perfect mix of content, you are welcoming informative and pleasant to watch. And I so enjoy seeing your area and Bailey! I would love to see your store and truly can’t imagine how you could improve. Just continue as you are and how you want this vlog to be! Happy Easter from Canada!
Love your episode. Your shop sounds lovely especially as you focus on local and helping women in other countries. I live in the US but am originally from South Africa so it was lovely to hear about the cotton yarn from back there. If I ever visit the UK again I’d love to stop in and see your shop.
Hello, love your videos and really love your choice of patterns, yarns and colour choices. A workshop of yours is on my wish list too!!! Keep enjoying your knitting 🧶 and so pleased I’ve now found your podcast!
Hi Jane. I just found your podcast and LOVED it. It was fun seeing all of your projects both on & off the needles. Your work is lovely. Meeting Bailey and seeing the countryside was very nice. I absolutely love Cornwall so “going along” with you to that beautiful home and seeing Spring gardens in bloom was a real treat. I’m anxious to go back to watch your 2 previous podcasts and look forward to following you on a regular basis. I would love to see more of the area where you live ( I’m in the US ). Maybe we could see your shop on one of your podcasts?
I love watching your blogs.. and really lovely to see you in the beautiful blue jumper & lovely cowl. When you sowed the Herd yarn in beige I though, oh no. The green you showed in the sample would look great.. no more beige please. Colour colour colour. Love the colours in the alpaca except the beige!
Haha. Sorry I will always have some neutrals in there but I promise that I will try to make sure I add a splash of colour too. 😜 Thank you for your lovely comments
My granddaughter wanted to go to Cornwall. So she flew over in March 2022 and we took a train from London. I looked for yarn shops near where we were and found none. I had yarn from Edinburgh and London and was very disappointed to miss getting Cornish wool.
Hi Jane. I've recently discovered your podcast. I'm from South Island New Zealand. Loved meeting your handsome boxer Bailey. I've bred & been owned by pedigree boxers for 27 years. Agree their personality is the best. Im an avid knitter. I enjoy knitting Truly Myrtle garments, they are designed by a NZ designer, Libby Johnson. My favourite yarn to knit with is 4ply.
Ooh I like both of those designers too. There is no other breed like a boxer. Had them all my life and I love their quirks and personalities. Mine is getting to be an old boy now at 91/2 so just give him loads of cuddles and attention as I know they are precious 🥰
Please add me to the list of viewers who would like to see your shop. It sounds like it is uniquely curated, and I’m sure lots of us would find it interesting. Thank you for your lovely podcast!
How I enjoy having my morning coffee and watching your vlog. I feel you are sitting in my living room, and we are chatting away about knitting and a bit more. I am very passionate about arts and crafts and with all the information that is out there finding the right person to listen to is a challenge. I will be a regular listener enjoying all that you have to share with us from across the pond in Quebec, Canada.
Hello! from across the pond...I live at the beach in Delaware, USA. Loved your walk with Bailey and the tour of the woods. My husband and I met up with friends in London in October and had a fabulous time but, I would like to have had more time to spend in your beautiful country. I've knitted off/on the last twenty years and have never made myself a garment (mainly socks, hats/scarves and blankets). Decided that this year I'll cast on with a cotton tee pullover-I'm enjoying it immensely! Thank you!
Thank you for starting this podcast. As mentioned by others, I too am a "woman of a certain age " and appreciate your perspective on style. I knit blankets and scarves, mostly for charity and haven't made garments. I'm tempted to try a vest or straight lightweight top. Maybe. I really love seeing your part of the world!
Hi Jane, I recently steeked for the first time. Like many others before me I watched Arne and Carlos and their tutorial was very clear. So I reinforced the stitches on the sewing machine tho I believe that a lot of others reinforce with a single crochet stitch. Having done that I picked up my scissors, took a deep breath and just went for it. Success! My tip would be to use small sharp scissors and to place your spare hand behind the stitches being cut. Once the band was picked up and completed I covered the raw edges wth ribbon hand stitched in place. Good luck Jane and before you know it you’ll have steeked your first cardigan.
Thank you Fiona. What great recommendations and I will definitely watch tutorial. I am a tempted to machine sew it too 🤔 and I also got some embroidered braid which I might use. Watch this space! 😊
discovered u yesterday and have binged on your episodes, love that your my age, love the patterns and designers you knit. and really enjoyed visiting Tintagel with u, keep it up, your a delight to enjoy a knit with
I have just found your podcast you are so down to earth and you couldn’t have a better breed of dogs we have 2 boxers there are so amazing dogs ours are Rocky is 10 and Rambo is going to be three in July love the country side have never been outside of the United States we live in Tennessee you are doing a wonderful job with the podcast maybe one day we will get to come see your country love from Gerri in Tennessee
Thank you 😊 I have had boxers all of my life and there is no other dog I would want. They are such characters aren’t they? Bailey will pop up again soon 🐶
@@thecornishknitter Your welcome and you are so right they characters I will be looking forward to seeing Bailey again have a wonderful day love from Gerri in Tennessee
Thank you for another lovely podcast Jane, love seeing all your beautiful projects. I was so excited to walk around Antony with you, my husband is related to the Carew Poles, we visit South East Cornwall often as we have friends in Torpoint, we live in East Devon. Good luck with the steeking.
Thank you. I loved in Torpoint for a few years for work and Antony was a lovely place to visit and have a walk so I wanted to go whilst the camellias and magnolias were out. I will share how the steeling goes! 😊
This is my first time watching and I have to say you are so lovely and so is the beautiful area where you live. Your dog Bailey is adorable and I can see why you love him so. The knitting projects are so beautiful and I love your color choices. You mentioned that someone said you should use more colors as you are a bit pale. That seems rather unkind. The colors you choose fit you just fine. We do need to be kind to each other in this world. I enjoyed seeing all your projects and the video's of your beautiful countryside. Also a tour of your shop would be fun. I live in Colorado, USA and enjoy seeing the seaside views. Thank you
Thank you for such a lovely comment. Shop content coming up soon. My daughter visited Colorado for a few weeks after Uni as she and her friend did a tour of the US and she loved it 😊
Loved this blog I’ve been visiting Cornwall since the 80s l love it. We have booked again this year and as national trust members will make a point of visiting Antony woodland gardens it looks beautiful. I’ve been knitting 40 years and even the thought of steeking gives me the fear but as you say we are all learning. I have finally knitted a top down jumper which was fine I managed it with no problems I think we make things difficult in our head.. good luck with the steeking and Bailie is just gorgeous
Thank you for such lovely feedback and for sharing your experience of knitting. Do go and visit Antony it is lovely all year around. Steeking is being done next week
Very much enjoying your vlogs watching from NZ. Inspiring patterns & knitting thoughts. Thank you for the little snippets of Cornwall- would love to return for a visit.
Hello Jane , lovely podcast ,I would enjoy a podcast tour of your yarn shop and beautiful yarns you stock and maybe pattern ideas for one skein projects using your special luxury yarns .Seeing skeins knitted and crochet too .xx
I just found your channel and wanted to say how much I am enjoying your podcasts. I went back to the beginning and will work through them in order. It may be a while before I catch up! I loved seeing Bailey. We had a Boxer and her owner live with us for a short while back in the late 1980s. Nina (the Boxer) was a sweet dog and a great character, and her owner, my friend Heather, owned a wool shop! We have owned dogs since the beginning of 1983; over the years 2 Labradors, 4 Flatcoated Retrievers and 2 Finnish Lapphunds. One time we had 4 at once, sadly now we have just one, my lovely Tasku (a finnish lapphund) who is 12. My husband says no more dogs when she goes but I am hoping he will be like you and not want to be without a dog. I absolutely agree with what you say about being kind. There are just a few people who seem to be quick to be unpleasant, and I think that is especially true when it's online. I'd love a shop tour - maybe you have done one and I will find it in due course. I have just come back to knitting after a long break and I'm loving all the beautiful yarns that are available now. Luckily I've discovered a lovely wool shop fairly near me. I'm only knitting small projects at present - I've got into knitting hats! Thanks so much. Karen
Hi Karen. Thank you for subscribing and sharing a little about yourselves. Bailey is 10 in a few weeks time and I keep saying no lore but who am I kidding 😂 glad you have a lovely yarn shop nearby and looking forward to virtually meeting you on RUclips again soon ☺️
I have just found your channel and working my way through your videos. I am new to knitting as I mainly enjoy cross stitching but suddenly had an idea that I wanted to knit myself a jumper. My mum is a life long knitter and has helped me to understand patterns and different types of wool. My jumper is a basic boat neck style in a moss stitch. I have chosen Stylecraft Highland Heathers in the colour Loch and have so far finished the back and currently half way through a sleeve. I am making it in the largest size as I do like to wear oversized jumpers. I am loving it, even if I make a mistake and have to pull it back to correct it I see it as learning rather than just giving up. I can't wait to finish it as it will be something I have made. I also find cross stitching and knitting very helpful for mental health, something to do to help empty my mind and relax me after work. Loving your videos....with love from Manchester ❤
Thank you for sharing your knitting journey. I still make mistakes despite knitting for decades and it’s partly why I love the craft. I am always learning. Mistakes are what makes your garments unique so don’t worry about them and just enjoy the process. I like embroidery and have often done cross stitch too. 😊
Jane, as I watched this episode, I was knitting the DRK Everyday Cowl which will be a shop sample for my LYS where I work part-time. I live in the US (Tennessee) and can't imagine I'll ever have the opportunity to visit Great Britain, but because of your wonderful channel and others I watch, I feel I get to explore the world and find "friends" there. We'll never meet, but it's so much fun for me to realize that we're knitting the same pattern. I want to see what you're knitting, I want to see your shop, I want to see your beautiful Cornwall--- create whatever content you'd like for your channel. I'll happily watch it! 💚
Thank you for such lovely feedback and sharing why you watch knitting vlogs. I love that we can communicate from completely different places over a share d passion. I am sure many shops will have a DRK. Everyday cowl sample as she is such a popular designer isn’t she? I fancied doing the striped one but I am sure there will be more ☺️
One thing I have learned by doing steeking for the first time is that it actually is not that scary afterall and I look forward to doing it again especially as I can then take (most) sweater patterns and convert them into cardis (which I wear more). I took someone else's advice and after I reinforced the steek stitches (I used crochet reinforcement), I picked up and worked my button band before cutting--that way the stitches were secure and not pulling on the cut area when picking them up. I also put a piece of cardboard inside the sweater before cutting just to be sure I didn't cut to the back. You'll be fine! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, projects, and time!
Thank you for all your great advice Jessica. I am hoping once I have done it once then my nervousness will be put to bed and I will be able to adapt patterns as you suggest. 😊
This has been super to join you today. How right you are in that if you cannot say anything nice then don’t say it. I don’t like any group that says it is for beginners but really isn’t and it makes the real beginners uncomfortable. Not helpful and not kind. Loved your content especially a walk with Bailey and the garden walk. Also love the coloured cowl. A walk round your shop would be fabulous - thank you and just keep doing what you are doing as it is super.🧶🧶
I steeked just one wooly wool cardigan. Much depends on the yarn. And take your time. It was a great feeling when the rows were cut and a cardigan with armholes appeared. Thanks for this new episode, Jane!
Lovely episode! I sat next to Nicki Franklin (not realising she was an amazing embroiderer!) on a Slow Stitching course given by Australian Lisa Mattock (not embroidery as such, but definitely worth looking up) a few years ago. Two very talented ladies. 🌷
Would love a video of the shop! It’s more about seeing how a shop where you live differs from shops where I live (U.S.). Also love to hear what you are reading and watching. Always find that interesting. And really enjoying seeing parts of Cornwall. It’s on my bucket list of places to visit.
I'm so happy to have found your podcast. I have to say that you look stunning in blue. It is definitely your color! Could you consider talking about patterns and yarn for summer tops? It seems like most who cover that topic knit cropped camisoles and the like. Not for me...that ship has sailed😂
I recently found your podcast and actually joined your sock club...love it. It was so nice to hear you talk about what you think podcast brings to you and I totally agree....... you asked for suggestions....I love your projects and your knitting is so good....if you ever have any suggestions please pass them on. I'm not a beginner but not an expert either and you tube has really helped me learn techniques but i'm afraid to start projects that look a bit of a challenge.....like cables. :-) I won't touch lace!
Thanks so much for sharing images from home. I live in Canada and enjoy the scenery. Im happy with your podcast and format sorry I have no experience with steeking but check out knits n pieces podcast, Noelle does a live demo on steeking and she did a needle felting treatment to the ends. Best of luck you’ve got this.
I really enjoy your podcasts and I would love to 'see' the shop and all the different yarns you carry....I love seeing different projects and different yarns and you are ticking all those boxes. Like everybody else in the comments, I agree that it does not cost anything to be kind and there is no need to be unkind to anyone let alone beginners, we all started and depended on people to get us through [being of the pre internet generation, I would have been lost without people helping me]. Your dog is gorgeous and I loved the walking tours, thank you
Thank you and I can remember when computers were as big as a large room not micro things with the World Wide Web too. ☺️ who would have thought back then we would be able to ‘google’ our way to endless information and be able to communicate like we do now! It has positives and negatives I feel. I always want to nurture others to live crafting as much as I do so I am confused when people don’t always offer support I suppose. Heyho. More shop and pooch content in the future 😊
I've only steeked once...so far! It was exciting and terrifying at the same time. I did purchase some decorative ribbon to cover the steek on the inside of the cardigan...I thought it a nice finishing touch. I bought it from a shop here in Canada....but there seems to be a lot of choices on Etsy, too.
I have never really been a fan of Facebook for the reasons you have given. Not sure why some folks have to be mean, there is no need. Thank you for your vlog, for me it is perfect! Loved seeing Bailey.
Thank you Dee. 😊I only use it for the shop really but some community info is useful. But I just wish people would keep mean posts to themselves 😒 Bailey will be back I am sure!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Got the. sock kit and will be casting in at the weekend. The video was very timely for me as i was about to message you to say i was going to use the tiny circulars as i couldn’t be doing with all that pulling through magic loop stuff now that I had found the tiny sock ones. Thanks again. A very calm and informative chat after a stressful week. Sue.
Lovely and enjoyable episode. I like that you so enjoy your needle arts (the crochet and embroidery) in addition to knitting. You look very good in the cowl and the colours do well with you. Thank you for sharing photos of your dog and Cornwall.
I also have the Hirne on my needles. Body done and the two sleeves done now to join them together. After this busy weekend I hope to get to it! I think I will machine reinforce before I cut...
You’ll find steeking straightforward and satisfying. It’s a good idea to steek a couple of swatches first to find which method of reinforcing you prefer - crochet, whipstitch or buttonhole stitch (my favourite). You can always use your sewing machine as an additional reinforcement as well. Thanks for a lovely blog!
I have steeked several garments with different results, most of them fine. What I can recommend, is knitting the buttonbands before steeking and washing the hole cardigan before steeking. This way the yarn can "felt" to a certain degree befor you steek. I also saw somebody needlefelting down the steek before cutting, which I think to be a brilliant idea, but haven't done it so far myself.
wow! a few memories for me there... I used to live in St Anns Chapel very near to Kitt Hill and my brothers and I used to go up there all the time. I expect you've been to Cotehele House, Morwhellam Quay and Calstock as well - long way to go for a walk form Falmouth tho!! About steeking - try knitting a small practice piece and trying out a couple of reinforcement methods and cutting it - it kind of breaks the ice for you rather than cutting a whole garment the first time :) I'd love to see what you have in the shop and any other Cornish walks! (I'm also blessed - or otherwise - with a pale skin, lots of Norwegian ancestry apparently... people are always asking me if I am anaemic or if I'm feeling all right 🙄😆) looking forward to the next instalment x
Thank you! How funny you lived near to Kit Hill! I know all of those places as I have lived in the area as it was easier to get to London for work. I have done the prep for the steel so I am now going to do the button bands to reinforce it and then go fold turkey and cut into it. What is the worst that can happen 😳 😬 more Cornish content to come and the next one I will do from the shop 😊
You appeared in my YT recommendations so I’ve watched your first 3 episodes and really enjoyed them. New subscriber here and very pleased you’ve shot to prominence so quickly! It’s great to have another really good knitting podcast from the British Isles. Re DPNS! I agree! Tools of the devil! 😂 I call it “wrestling the hedgehog”. I’m not over,y keen on magic loop either, so when I discovered Tony circulars I was thrilled to bits. I’m so glad you went with Shannon’s crocheted blanket - Shannon and her mum belong to our Knit and Natter group at Venetias Yarn `shop here in Fakenham Norfolk, though Shannon can only make a rare appearance due to her work commitments. She dyes some fabulous yarns! Looking forward to your next, and yes, enjoying the local views too.
Lovely podcast. Completely agree that kindness and support is what we all should be sharing. That's what makes the knitting and crafting community so welcoming - at least for the most part! Sorry to hear the story of that particular Facebook group. You amaze and inspire me with the number of projects that you've finished over your three episodes! I'm not retired yet and hope that when I am, I'll be able to turn out many more projects since I have SO many I want to do - don't we all! Please do share more about your shop. We'd love to see it and I'm sure it's quite wonderful. Thank you for the enjoyable and peaceful podcasts. I've been a fan since the first one and look forward to new ones.
Thank you Karen for such lovely feedback and for your thoughts. Too many projects and not enough time is an eternal struggle as I am happiest with a needle in hand but unfortunately still have to work to do too. One of the joys of owning a yarn shop is at least sometimes I can justify my knitting as ‘work’ 😜
Thank you for another lovely episode. The clips of the Cornish countryside are a great addition - the magnolias and camellias are magnificent. I would like to hear about the yarns in your shop , particularly about the people who make them - the wool. the dyes, the sheep.
This is sent to a special big boy now, eight years old today. Sending you lots and lots of hugs. Enjoy your eighth birthday Noah. May you have a wonderful day with loads of presents and cake and all the goodies that come with birthdays. 🍕🍕🍕🍕🎂🎂🎂🎂🤪
Steeks: Easy and fun! My trick is to pick up the stitches for the bands before cutting. Also using smaller gauge needles to pick up as well as knit the bands. Good luck ❤. Love your blog. ❤
Wow, Jane…the scenery you recorded is simply stunning! Thank you so much for sharing it. I’m a new viewer, and am looking forward to future episodes. 😊
There are groups like that all over. I belonged to a crochet group like that. Some of the like-minded people decided to leave and form a different group, and made our own rules, and it’s been fantastic. The group was made secret and limited to 200 members. It’s been great. ❤
I think you are right that smaller groups are easier to manage and I appreciate how hard the admin for these groups can be if it gets well supported so it’s up to individuals to be nice and support each other. I am so glad you have such a lovely sounding group of like minded people. That’s what I hope to build here too 😊
Thankyou for a beautiful podcast Jane, I agree with you about being kind to people. Lovely knitting, good luck with the steeking of your Cardigan, I’ve never done it. 🧶
Hi Jane, something I’d like, if you could, take a Yarn or two from your shop (perhaps make a swatch) and tell us about the British yarn - talk about it’s drape & what the yarn could be used for. Just a set suggestion. I also like your shawls!
Thank you Susan 😊
I so agree....the world needs a little more kindness.
For sure. Thank you 😊
I love your podcast! I would love a Q and A, a shop tour..and anything else you want to show us. Thank you for your calm presence and kindness! I will be here! 🐑♥️🐑♥️🐑
Thank you for such great feedback 😊
You look so pretty with the Pressed Flowers cowl up near your face! I really enjoy when you film the little excursions around Cornwall. Thank you so much for taking the time to do that. Looking forward to seeing your shop. I enjoy hearing you talk about your life experiences as well as your knitting wisdom!!
Thank you 😊
I loved this episode.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. How did you find Sarkle? 😊
Thank for such lovely feedback and your story about being taught to knit with the kindness of others 😊
Such a treat to watch your lovely vlog. Knit and natter would be a great idea for content- anything to share the calm enjoyable informative things that are creative!
Thank you. I am thinking I might do one of those soon 😊
Thank you for this great podcast! You're very generous showing us around the woodlands, absolutely stunning !! Bailey is gorgeous, we had mostly Boxer dogs growing up in New Zealand. They're the most playful, affectionate creatures....I even loved Their slobber😂
Yeah slobber is a byproduct of loving Boxer dogs 😂😂 I am sitting with slobber on key as I type. 🥹thank you for your lovely comments.
Thank you for sharing some of your world. Cornwall looks lovely, and the podcast is peaceful and delightful.
Thank you Rosemary 😊
Hi from Alabama, USA. Thanks for sharing your lovely countryside with us.
Thank you Patsy 😊
Bailey is one handsome boy. Enjoy learning about different areas of the world. Good luck with the steeking. I'm still working up my courage to do that.
Thank you. He is a beautiful pooch but we are biased 😊
Suzanne
Thank you. I have had Boxers all my life and they are a special breed of dog 🥰
Thank you Tina 😊
Yes, I would like to see your shop and have a tour of it. Every shop is so different.
Some shop content will be coming soon 😊
Thanks for the scenery and walk video clips. Beautiful part of the world. Love all your topics and the way you chat to us. Kia Ora from New Zealand.
Thank you Tracey 🥰
I have managed to catch all three of your vlogs. I have enjoyed all of them.
Thank you Marcia 😊
I'm really enjoying your vlogs. Love the blue on you. Pressed Flowers is in my queue.
Thank you 😊
What a beautiful county you live in, and I'm gaining inspiration from your knitting, thank you
Thank you Naomi 😊
Another lovely episode. I do love the “travelogue.” Such a gorgeous landscape. Topped only by the beautiful Bailey. Anytime I can see a dog on a podcast, I’m a happy woman. Thank you for sharing your dog and your countryside.
Thank you from me and Bailey 😊
Your videos are so relaxing and well done! I enjoy the parts of England that you share. I lived in England for six years and really enjoyed it. Would love for you to show how to work some of the hints or stitches you talk about. Thank you for sharing your love of the yarn crafts and nature🙂💛
Thank you Eileen I will try to include more as I vlog if it helps 😊
Thank you for the Vlog Jane. I really enjoy your content. ❤
Thank you 😊
Absolutely love Bailey and your beautiful countryside. Hope you take us on more walks! Love your podcasts and look forward to more. Thanks so much
Thank you 😊
Those stripes will be gorgeous for you
Thank you. Looking forward to casting them maybe later this week 😂
Ice mud…
stripes is on my short list of knits I want to start.
We were brought up on the saying”if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all”
Me too 😂
Lovely relaxed podcast.
Jane x
Thank you and it sounds like you are making great use of your well deserved retirement from healthcare 😊
Hi greetings from NY!
I would love to see yarns and beautiful sceneries, please🧶😊
Thank you Helen. Watch this space 😊
Thank you Colleen for your lovely feedback 😊
Glad I discovered you show. I also love Boxers
They get under your skin 🥰 thank you 😊
Love your episode. Your shop sounds lovely especially as you focus on local and helping women in other countries. I live in the US but am originally from South Africa so it was lovely to hear about the cotton yarn from back there. If I ever visit the UK again I’d love to stop in and see your shop.
Please do and thank you 😊
Hello, love your videos and really love your choice of patterns, yarns and colour choices. A workshop of yours is on my wish list too!!! Keep enjoying your knitting 🧶 and so pleased I’ve now found your podcast!
Thank you Penny 😊
Thank you for a lovely vlog.
Thank you 😊
Thank you Marilyn for the lovely feedback and watch this space 👀 you will likely see Bailey again and definitely some shop content 😊
There are terrific videos on how to steek safely. Go for it.
What a shame as we were there all the time. We opened in 2019 (great timing just before a global pandemic 😏) and we have lots of Cornish wool 😊
Couple of video suggestions.. best sock yarns and free patterns you would recommend
Great suggestions thank you 😊
Thank you 😊
I would like to see a knit along. I know there are lots of them, but your style appeals to me.😊
Thank you. I will definitely do one soon 😊
You are a busy lady
I love your vlogs
Can’t wait for the next one xx❤️❤️❤️
Thank you. Wouldn’t have it any other way as I love being busy. Hopefully I will get them more regularly soon 😊
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I steeked twice even one was 100% acrylic and it went well,
I followed the tutorial from Arne and Carlos. Lots of succes!
Thank you 😊
No matter what, be kind. That's what I believe. I really enjoyed this episode. Thanks for touring us around Cornwall!
My pleasure!
Thank you!
Thank you Sue 😊
I love your vlogs I think a q and a from your shop would be a lovely idea.Iknit quite a lot do not like sewing up.
Join the club I am no fun of sewing up 😊
Thank you for starting this podcast. As mentioned by others, I too am a "woman of a certain age " and appreciate your perspective on style. I knit blankets and scarves, mostly for charity and haven't made garments. I'm tempted to try a vest or straight lightweight top. Maybe. I really love seeing your part of the world!
Thank you Jan. Do give a garment a try. Pick a nice simple pattern from someone like TinCan knits and you will be hooked 😊
You have the perfect mix of content. Thank you for being a calming, creative soul. Cheers from Roseann in the US Midwest on a thunderstorm-y morning.
Thank you for the lovely feedback Roseann.
discovered u yesterday and have binged on your episodes, love that your my age, love the patterns and designers you knit. and really enjoyed visiting Tintagel with u, keep it up, your a delight to enjoy a knit with
Aw thank you 😊
It was so nice to see a new episode pop up this morning! It’s always so lovely!
Aw thank you. It’s seems he’s since the last one 😊
Thank you for another wonderful podcast.
Thank you ☺️
I agree with the ‘always learning’ comment, I’ve come back to knitting after a long break and it’s a whole new experience/ language 😊great fun.
Thank you 😊
Thank you for another lovely podcast Jane, love seeing all your beautiful projects.
Even lived there 😂
This is my first time watching and I have to say you are so lovely and so is the beautiful area where you live.
😊
Very much enjoying your vlogs watching from NZ. Inspiring patterns & knitting thoughts.
Thank you for the little snippets of Cornwall- would love to return for a visit.
Thank you Shelley 😊
Your cowl is beautiful!
Thank you it’s a great little pattern 😊
Hello Jane , lovely podcast ,I would enjoy a podcast tour of your yarn shop and beautiful yarns you stock and maybe pattern ideas for one skein projects using your special luxury yarns .Seeing skeins knitted and crochet too .xx
Thank you and a great suggestion about 1 skein projects 😊
LOVE visiting Cornwall with you. Charming videos to enjoy until I can come again for a holiday myself. Much appreciated.
Thank you 😊
I have just found your channel and working my way through your videos.
Thank you Jill 😊
I steeked just one wooly wool cardigan. Much depends on the yarn. And take your time. It was a great feeling when the rows were cut and a cardigan with armholes appeared. Thanks for this new episode, Jane!
Thank you. 🤞
Lovely episode! I sat next to Nicki Franklin (not realising she was an amazing embroiderer!) on a Slow Stitching course given by Australian Lisa Mattock (not embroidery as such, but definitely worth looking up) a few years ago. Two very talented ladies. 🌷
Thank you Joy. How funny that you say by Nicki. She is very talented. I will go and check on your recommendation now too 😊
Would love a video of the shop! It’s more about seeing how a shop where you live differs from shops where I live (U.S.). Also love to hear what you are reading and watching. Always find that interesting. And really enjoying seeing parts of Cornwall. It’s on my bucket list of places to visit.
Thank you and so corn and visit soon 😊
I'm so happy to have found your podcast. I have to say that you look stunning in blue. It is definitely your color! Could you consider talking about patterns and yarn for summer tops? It seems like most who cover that topic knit cropped camisoles and the like. Not for me...that ship has sailed😂
Thank you. That shop sailed for me too a few years ago 😏 but that’s a great idea. Watch this space 😊
Thank you and I am glad you found the podcast. I only like simple lace as I get lost in the yarn overs. Too stressful for me 😜
Thanks so much for sharing images from home. I live in Canada and enjoy the scenery. Im happy with your podcast and format sorry I have no experience with steeking but check out knits n pieces podcast, Noelle does a live demo on steeking and she did a needle felting treatment to the ends. Best of luck you’ve got this.
Thank you 😊
What beautiful colors for your shawl project! Thank you for sharing…I can’t wait to see the finished shawl ❤
Thank you. 😊
Lovely yarns and knits. Thank you for sharing your walks. Take Care.
Thank you 😊
I really enjoy your podcasts and I would love to 'see' the shop and all the different yarns you carry....I love seeing different projects and different yarns and you are ticking all those boxes.
Thank you. It’s getting close to finishing now 😬 I bought some jacquard ribbon too to hide all my raw edges. I will share as soon as it’s done 🫣
Sue.
Thank you ☺️😊
Lovely and enjoyable episode. I like that you so enjoy your needle arts (the crochet and embroidery) in addition to knitting. You look very good in the cowl and the colours do well with you. Thank you for sharing photos of your dog and Cornwall.
Thank you. I love all types of craft really but give me anything to do with a hook or a needle and I am in my happy place. 🥰
It would be lovely to see your shop. And maybe showing yourself knitting in different beautiful spots in your area?🥰
Thank you and definitely in IG palms for future episodes. 🥰
I also have the Hirne on my needles. Body done and the two sleeves done now to join them together. After this busy weekend I hope to get to it! I think I will machine reinforce before I cut...
Haha. Have you steeked it yet Debra? Just about to do it on mine 😬
Another lovely podcast. So nice to see all your projects. Would be nice to see your shop & the villages round about. Thank you from Scotland 🏴
Thank you. I visit Scotland regularly as my daughter lives in Edinburgh 😊
Thank you that’s a great idea. 😊
I haven’t done a steek yet either. I did find a tip though on another podcast. Needle felt the steek before cutting. Loving your podcast.
Thank you I will share how k get on 🤞
I have steeked several garments with different results, most of them fine.
Thank you and some great advice 😊
wow! a few memories for me there...
Steek even (predictive text doesn’t seem to like that word! )
Thank you. Love that description of DPNs 😂 I think Blue Fern yarns have some fab colours and really enjoying the blanket. 😊
One of the joys of owning a yarn shop is at least sometimes I can justify my knitting as ‘work’ 😜
The cowl looks super on you. Would love to see your shop and all the yarns you stock. Looking forward to paying a visit later in the year😊
Thank you 😊
A really lovely episode Jane thank you , I would really love to see your shop 😅
Thank you 😊
Thank you for another lovely episode. The clips of the Cornish countryside are a great addition - the magnolias and camellias are magnificent. I would like to hear about the yarns in your shop , particularly about the people who make them - the wool. the dyes, the sheep.
Thank you 😊
This is sent to a special big boy now, eight years old today. Sending you lots and lots of hugs. Enjoy your eighth birthday Noah. May you have a wonderful day with loads of presents and cake and all the goodies that come with birthdays. 🍕🍕🍕🍕🎂🎂🎂🎂🤪
Hiya. Hope this got to the right little boy 😊
Steeks: Easy and fun! My trick is to pick up the stitches for the bands before cutting. Also using smaller gauge needles to pick up as well as knit the bands. Good luck ❤. Love your blog. ❤
Thank you. I am about to do exactly that technique so fingers crossed it works 🫣
Wow, Jane…the scenery you recorded is simply stunning! Thank you so much for sharing it. I’m a new viewer, and am looking forward to future episodes. 😊
Thank you 😊 I managed to get Cornwall in the sunshine ☀️
There are groups like that all over. I belonged to a crochet group like that. Some of the like-minded people decided to leave and form a different group, and made our own rules, and it’s been fantastic. The group was made secret and limited to 200 members. It’s been great. ❤
I think you are right that smaller groups are easier to manage and I appreciate how hard the admin for these groups can be if it gets well supported so it’s up to individuals to be nice and support each other. I am so glad you have such a lovely sounding group of like minded people. That’s what I hope to build here too 😊
Very beautiful! Your Pup is adorable. The format of your podcast is perfect and I so enjoy watching. Happy knitting!
Thank you. No longer a pup but an old man now but we love him 😊
Thankyou for a beautiful podcast Jane, I agree with you about being kind to people. Lovely knitting, good luck with the steeking of your Cardigan, I’ve never done it. 🧶
Thank you 😊
Hi Jane, something I’d like, if you could, take a Yarn or two from your shop (perhaps make a swatch) and tell us about the British yarn - talk about it’s drape & what the yarn could be used for. Just a set suggestion. I also like your shawls!
Great idea! Thank you 🙏🏻
Just perfect ❤
Aw thank you 😊
I absolutely agree if you can’t say something kind , don’t bother saying anything xxx
Me too 😀
Thank you for the lovely episode! I’d love to see yarn shop content!
Thank you Brenda I will definitely be adding a vlog from the shop as it seems to be a popular topic 😊
