no lie, been trying to get into the fire service as a cadet or just learn more about it and the only ones that'll respond to me are my local volunteers
Agreed ! As usual ! A comment and question....T-1, I know why you did what you had to do with the airhirn on the way off the tarmac, but was it necessary to give them the courtesy blast when going by them after they pulled over ? Sometimes, having a tarmac that long isn't good for traffic control. I'd suggest to the town to install a "fire Dept responding light". Not so much here, but very popular in the USA. Basically, when trucks are pulling out, the light would flash red, and force the traffic on Lesperance, both ways, to stop. Problem solved. Question, what was the lady pointing at at the end ? Thanks O.L. !!!
Additionally, what time was this alarm ? Manpower seemed low, and slow. OK, believe it or not, the difference in each apparatus screws civilian drivers up. E-1 was fast, lights activated in the bay, sirens on as front tires hit Lesperance. R-1 was slow, lights activated in the bay, but siren not activated until well onto Lesperance. Lastly, T-1, slow response, lights on in bay, airhorn blasted on tarmac, then one more time on Lesperance. So, can anyone relate ? Suggestions ? Disagreements ? Peace.
Engine 1, leaving quarters, almost smokes there own driving that black car, as you can see the driver of the rig make a quick small turn to avoid it ! Which rig sounded like it didn't want to start ? By the looks of the headlights, it was Truck 1. Second rig to leave quarters looks new, based on the blue lights. Late on the siren. Made up by Truck 1 and it's horn !! Holy crap !!!! Lucky that wasn't a run in the middle of the night, or the neighbors would no longer be your biggest fans !! LOL
Right on ! I hope T-1 makes it, I love that style. Lakeshore Truck 1 SUCKS !!!! Talk about being too big ! When a fire truck is almost 3 stories high, it's a problem. You should have seen them make the adjustments to that little old Station 1 on CR 22 to make it fit. The original T-1, the one there when I got hired, was also my fav. Except for when you had to shut your door on the back. I'm lucky, at 5'10 I fit pretty good. I rode it on parades only, at Stn.3 we never had anything but 2 engines. And 1 of them was manual, yayyy !!!! But from what I heard (I had already gotten hired, but was still in recruit training) Engine 3-B pumped like a race horse during that HUGE commercial building fire on Patillo Rd. Us recruits (I got hired in a class of 18 firefighters) were supposed to get called to go roll hose and do the grunt work, but we weren't covered under Lakeshore's employee insurance yet. I'm sort of happy about that :-)
Keep them safe out there your service is deeply appreciated thanks take care best wishes to everyone who responds keep up the good work. Joe
Volunteers seem more hard working than the paid ones

Gear at station. Most volunteer carries gear with them.
