I can relate to so many things in this video. First of all, I intend to start doing a lot of crit races for the very reason of they are great training tools. Secondly, the power up situation... I think I addressed this in almost every video and people may be tired of hearing it, but I don't use the coffee break power up ever because to me it's like cheating. However, it is something that is Zwift provides for you to use. It's part of the gamification of Zwift. So if I am happy to use the feather, I can't really say anything about somebody else using a tool that Zwift provides them either. I think it's kind of cheating yourself sometimes. But of course, given the chance in a ride, I will always use an arrow or a feather if I remember that they are there! LOL I also tend to forget that Zwift is indeed, a game. It's not a game to me. It's a serious cycling program. That's why I was not happy with the hat that they used for the Tour de Zwift. It was like a mockery of how seriously some of us take it, like me. People pushing as hard as they can, gritting their teeth to hold on to a wheel, fighting to get up a hill, and wearing this stupid bucket hat; a complete mockery and I thought it was in poor taste. But that's just me. At the end when you were so frustrated, I did the exact same thing yesterday in stage 8 of the TdZ, the A ride. I was stranded in no man's land on Tempus Fugit, talking about how I wish I had a wheel to sit on. Somehow I totally lost my focus and the ideal wheel just rolled right by me. I was so mad at myself. As always, thank you for fantastic content! You are getting stronger and stronger.

Hi Linda 🙂 looking forward to seeing you race some of these crits! I’ll probably do some more as an alternative to a VO2 session but I definitely prefer a longer course where there’s more to look at! I completely agree with everything you said about power-ups, I should play more attention to them but would prefer it if they weren’t there. Like you I also see Zwift as more than just a game, and I like to replicate how it’d be outdoors (I also wasn’t a massive fan of the bucket hat)! It’s funny how the mind plays tricks when deep into a ride, looking back at the video I just needed to hold onto that wheel, but somehow just lacked the grit to finish off the race by giving it my all. Thanks for all your support and kind words as always Linda 😊

@notpogi when I come back from all this knee surgery would you consider coaching me? Like give me some kind of a schedule of things I need to do in a week and in what order. Very loosely, what workouts you recommend? I know you're probably really busy keeping that room white, and it saddens me that I will never get to use my pencil, especially since I had upgraded to a sharpie, but think about it. I like the way your mind works with your training. I can relate to it.

Hi Linda, sorry I didn’t reply to this sooner! I’m flattered and honoured for you to even consider asking me (as I’m really no expert) but I would love to help you in any way I can 🙂I can give you what seems to work for me? I’ll send you a PM on insta/FB 🙂

Great effort Ollie! Crit racing isn't something I do that often but definitely great for that workout hit! As for power ups, I don't mind them if they're in a race for people to use as it brings another element of tactics into play but equally I do love it when there isn't any like in the FRR, the only power ups you have then is in your legs!
I'm racing the ZRL as well, the leg snappers going to be fun! good luck in that one and i'll make sure I check out how you get on!

Thanks Phil 👍🏻 much appreciated as always mate. I definitely prefer the longer course races as opposed to the crit style round a circuit! I agree with the power-ups, I liked it in FRR that they decided not to put any in, I just think it makes it more of a level playing field but I can see how it could also add to the race experience.
Good luck Tuesday mate! I think it’ll be a really fun one but also very tough- fingers crossed we both get on ok 👍🏻

I do like a crit race mate and you rode that pretty well , with regards to power ups I’d like to see everyone start with say 5 everyone has the same on screen and then it’s up to you when you use them and in which order makes it more tactical. Great race top vid and yeah leave the top on 😂

Hi mate! Good to hear from you - thanks very much, that was a tough one! I love your idea of having 5 at the start and choosing when to use them - I think that’d definitely require some strategic thinking! Haha I‘lol definitely try mate but can’t promise anything in the summer 😂👍🏻

I think powerups are great and needed! It's indoors after all and not meant to be serious! Even if it's a race.

I do definitely think they add something different to the race experience! Would be cool I think if everyone got the same PU at a certain point and then the skill would be where to use it during the race! 👍🏻

Power ups and the gamification turns zwift racing into a joke, a drafting effect makes sense, that should be it.

I completely agree, it should either be a video game or a serious fitness / bike racing platform! 👍🏻
