I agree with all of the points you made, and I find it very interesting how watching the same episodes and seasons hit different after you've already watched the show, or when you've changed and your life is in a better place
    It's truly a great show

Can't even spell adora right. Also, they're both abusive in some form. They have gone through trauma, especially catra, and still are going through it through the show. catra wasn't taught to discuss her feelings, so she hurts people to not get herself her it's not easy to understand you have to go through her type of trauma to fully grasp why it is the way she is

@@KikiFlash Adora couldn't be abusive even if she was trying to be. She's simply too compassionate. She's WAY out of Catra's league.

Another thing about Catras development that doesn't work in the show is the lack of interactions that Catra has with the side characters. The plot of She ra makes the main focus of every interaction with Catra to be about Adora and Shadow weaver so what the plot does is pigeonhole Catra to interact with the side characters briefly for a set period of time but then it instantly comes back to Adora and Shadow weaver again. This limits Catras growth as a character since the plot doesn't allow Catra to share different perspectives with the other characters that could grow Catras character or make her more relatable. Instead it focuses her attention on conquering Etheria for 4 seasons which has to do with adopting those ideas from Shadow weaver as well as tying that to Adora as well. If Catra is to be more relatable than how come is it restricted to her relationship with Adora and Shadow weaver. This happens even in season 5 which is supposed to be her redemption story where we are supposed to be convinced that she has changed 😒 . It makes Catra less of an actual character to get to know and more of a plot device to move the story in the direction of what the creators want it to happen or create power fantasies for people with low self esteem.
What is ironic is that I am all for power fantasy characters but they usually work better as side characters and they learn to accept who they are as characters. Revy and Angel Dust work because at least both of those characters learned self acceptance in that they are not going to change as much as characters but that shouldn't stop then from creating mutual respect with the people they know. Catra however is all over the place as a main character. One moment were supposed to be convinced she is a bad*ss power fantasy character but then in the next were supposed to view her as a kitty who is completely innocent but has learned nothing. The writers have no idea what to do with Catra because it can't be bothered to do the barest of minimums for her that could grow her.

I disagree with your point because since you have shown that Catra does a good job of praising herself why does she need the approval of Hordak and Shadow weaver. Again if she left the Horde she would have more loyal friends since Adora will always defend her, even more status since Angella is royalty, maybe convince Shadow weaver to leave with her since Hordak abuses her or acquire even more power. All of this can be taken from a perspective of selfishness without any degree of morality if you want Catra to not be a moral or good person at all but your argument is undermined by the fact that the show wants to convince us that Catra is a good person at the end but the show is too lazy to make her a better person.
It seems like the pro Catra videos are out to make excuse after excuse for the bad and inconsistent writing of Catras character instead of looking at the fact that Catras actions are her own fault because she screwed herself over instead of thinking through her actions or decisions that could either lead to better outcomes for herself or others. You could view it as a character flaw maybe if your stretching it but Catras decisions are pretty stupid if you think through it critically. The first is not going with Adora for power or self masochsitic reasons due to the abuse she recieved, second is her sending Entrapta to die on Beast Island since Hordak will eventually figure out what happened to her, third is hiring double trouble who is not trustworthy at all, fourth is trying to kill Adora constantly for no good reason other than rejection, fifth is assisting Horde Prime to acquire more power by taking his job but underestimating his intelligence, sixth objecting to Adora using the failsafe even if it saves everyone and Adora lives in the process, seventh leaving Adora instead of offering different options so Adora could live and save the universe in the second to last episode of season 5, eighth not doing anything remotely redeemable in her redemption story in all of season 5 etc.
I could go on but the point is that there are multiple ways to write Catras character better to make her a more intimidating villain, a redeemable person or an effective antihero but the show never takes advantage of it because they are content with making Catra an unintelligent idiot that only gets lucky because the plot allows her to.

And saying sorry once and not even going into what you're apologizing for, just "Everything" isnt an acceptable apology
even if she saved the day and sacrificed herself that dosnt erase everything she did

Catras story represents the cycle of trauma and how we project what we have been through on others cause that's all we know. She is an extremely brave and courageous character for allowing herself to be supported in a way that she isn't used too and might not trust fully. In the end, only people who have gone through something similar can understand I guess but try to take his argument into stride and re examine what you think you know of her.

@@shethesheshe4481 Catra would be even more relatable if she started with nothing but from seeing the show she has quite a lot of privileges. For starters she has Adora who is loyal to her and is willing to want Catra to come with her to a better enviornment, Scorpia blindly supports and enables Catras behavior, and Entrapta is willing to go along with most of what Catra does. By having these characters with her it makes it hard to view Catra sympathetically since she is able to get whatever she wants without consequences due to her promotion of force captain and defeating Hordak in season 4. Consequences ironically enough makes a character more sympathetic since it makes us see that character struggle but also want to get better with time. Since Catra has recieved fewer consequences from the people she hurt due to instant forgiveness from Adora, Scorpia and Entrapta the audience cannot properly sympathize with her due to writers wanting Catra to get whatever she wants without any major intellectual challenge to her behavior.
Her getting beaten up doesn't count because the writers use it as a cheap way to force the audience to be sympathetic towards her. What Catra needs is a challenge to her ideas of hurting others to get what she wants so that there is no need to do that anymore but that is never challenged properly in the show to make us sympathize with her or understand her point of view. How can the audience sympathize with her if we are left in the dark as to what her point of view is?
