    Hey all, I noticed this video gets way more views than my other ones! I would love to invite you to check out all the other content on this channel, and SUBSCRIBE! This was a long time ago at this point, and I've done a lot of other stuff since then! I think you'll like it! But don't take my word for it! Just listen to the commenter below who states, "You are better off not advertising your fishing adventures and good fortune." A ringing endorsement!

    Always hard to fish a new body of water from shore. Nice video and dope outro. Tight lines!

    In 1996, I was fishing on that very spot. I was wearing my sneakers instead of my boots and slipped on a wet rock. I broke my ankle and couldn't walk.

      damn man, and all i wore were sandals! though if i recall correctly, i spent some of my time wading in them. i just moved up to westchester county from the city, so i'm looking forward to exploring this spot more in the coming months

      The Big Red Angler I got lucky. There was a DEC boat doing tests, and I flagged it down. Since I'm 6'2 and was about 230--maybe more--it took about six people--a couple of cops, the Armonk Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and the guys from the boat, to pull me out on a stretcher and take me to the hospital.
      Yes, it was the most miserable experience I had while fishing.
      Just watch out for wet spots.

      The Big Red Angler Go to soon-to-be updated fishing blog, www.behold-a-pale-horse.blogspot.com, and click on Kensico. Haven't had much luck there though.

    Can I use an inflatable kayak in it without any sort of special license. Also, what permits do you need?

      Rinor you can certainly not do so.

    I've been told there's the remains of an old church in the reservoir. A fisherman I met there once told me during a drought period, the water level fell so low that you could see the steeple!

      Not so it was dismantled as for the whole village that was there prior to Reservoir some remnants of foundations that's about it

    Welcome to kensico. The water level never changes. So there's no place to cast from. The places you can cast from are all plugged out from millions of fishermen. There's billions of ticks. but if you could get out on a boat. It's the best fishing in all of the reservoir systems. It'd be nice if the water level went down a little bit so you could walk the perimeter. Then it would be killer

      yeah, i've gone back a few times since then, also on foot, and caught nothing. this is also the only place where viewers get all bent out of shape that i'm "advertising" it to my paltry number of subscribers, as if watching me catch a single 1 lb bass is a ringing endorsement. unfortunately this somehow became my 2nd most popular video (out of about 150). ha, i have no designs to go back any time soon.

    So...did you get poison ivy? 😂
    I get unnerved in that first spot you went to; the rock face there is so steep & drops off to a very deep area. For some reason I get creeped out there! But I’ll probably go this week to see if the lakers are moving up shallow.
    (Obviously we live nearby)

      i don't think i got poison ivy from this one. the only bad case was from Swan Lake in Pleasantville. i've been back here i think twice since this video and just had terrible luck. i don't have too much experience with trout, but maybe i'd be better served to switch my focus here. good luck, and thanks for subscribing!

      The Big Red Angler honestly the reservoir is hard as hell to fish from shore. You happened to be casting into super deep water; on the other side of the road it’s a lot shallower, which in spring & fall is way better for bass and little panfish.
      Glad you didn’t get poison ivy!

    I've fished from that spot hundreds of time...., but walking further in you'll get much better spots. You normally will catch lake trout and brown trout. Best bet is using live saw bellies on one pole and lures on the other. You'll also see alot of guys wrap their line on a bottle cap with the live bait to get that ping when the bait gets hit by a trout.

      Are there any baitshops in the area that sell them? I haven't bought sawbellies in about 10 years from a shop that changed locations several times. The last time, the baitshop gave me a card certifying where I bought the sawbellies. It was a new regulation then.

      Wades bait and tackle....and there is one place in Cross River, right off the 684.

    That’s funny cus I fished the exact same spot (alone) and made one cast before saying to myself that if a murderer came I would be trapped, and I left. It’s also a tuff place to fish from the bank. Fished it a few times and nothing but baby largemouth. There are definitely big fish in those waters tho.

      @thebigredangler  4 года назад

      ha, yeah that bridge spot was pretty creepy. i agree, tough from the bank. i've actually been back 2 or 3 more times, but didn't catch anything (thus no video).

    You need to fish with trout lures, monster browns rainbows and deep water lake trout.... try to get live sawbellies and you will have better luck

    • @thebigredangler
      @thebigredangler  7 лет назад

      thanks! I have very little knowledge or experience with trout fishing, but definitely down to try it!

      The Big Red Angler
      I fished there all my life, cant anymore because i moved to CT....it is one of the best places to fish but can be hard because of its size....good time to fish for trout is now, as the water is colder and easier to catch..... let me know how you do next time you go
