Light impacts should remove entire body panels easier and really hard impacts should not intrude on the roll cage so severely. But still cool to see but nowhere near realism

every time I go over a bank on any snow track it's instantly totalled... why is that? Is it just me that's noticed it?
This depends on the snow, if it's ice based this happens IRL. Though in this video the car rolls on the road so the axles could bend regardless.
Only happens on some evil places on Monte Carlo.
actually does, i can tell you by experience. a bank of soft snow at high speed can make a lot of damage, after a while the snow get hard like ice, some time can last weeks, that type of snow can even kill you in a car accident.

The physics based dynamic deformation is pretty cool, but too bad a tiny fence like @3:43 can still send a rally car in a tail spin without even so much as a recoil.. ;)
for me most anoying thing is when u fly of track it takes you automaticly back on track which destroy spectacular crashes!!!!!

This physics are so beautiful i remember back them in old school PS1 and PC was nothing like this so good to see this evolution happening.
I still find the "Power of Christ compels you" defense mechanism the driver kicks in bloody hilarious. As if that''s going to protect you. XD
+Connor McMullan Its not really to protect them. In a roll over they teach you to cross your arms to your chest like that and tuck your chin. Better than having your arms flailing around.

Additionally, just imagine a driver having his hands on the wheel during a crash. The car goes airbourne and all of the sudden the wheels are hitteng the ground real hard causing the steering wheel to turn really fast. I think it is not that unlikely that the driver would break his arms from the forceful impact.
+chaacd Yeah, having been in a roll over accident as a passenger I naturally put my arms out and tore my rotator cuff in one shoulder. That was in '04. Still bothers me daily. good tiems.

Kevin Jones But explosions aren't even vanilla. The game handles stuff pretty well but not explosions because its not meant to.
And the game is still being improved.
Its also a shame those are the only videos because driving cars in it is fun.
If you think this damage is good, or even acceptable, let alone anywhere near realistic, then you're totally clueless and have never seen a car crash in your life,which is weird, considering you have access to internet. Again, Codemasters is shit at damage, so is everyone else except BeamNG. It's the only game out there that ACTUALLY simulates the body of a car and all it's parts in real time, with realistic physics, and the cars are damaged in a VERY realistic way and totally in real time, without any pre-programmed damage models.
Wish there was more particle effects for shards flying off the car. Anyone else think this is lacking?

It would also take up a lot of resources, and because this was a game made for consoles and the average PC player, it would greatly reduce the performance of the game on an average spec platform and thus reduce the total revenue generated from the game...
Real Life > Dirt Rally > Burnout > Forza > NFS > Mobile Game > some pixalated game > other games > a Potato > Gran Turismo

BeamNG graphic engiene is pretty full of phisics. I mean too much shit happening at the same time.It is a system based on a lot of little bars,look for BeamNG graphic engiene you´ll see what i mean.
Because of the sponsors in the game they can make a real damage physics , cause pieces of the car could blend or be dropped and sponsors pay to be there all the race even car manufacters dont want their cars look like scrap

Fast BeamNG approach looks good compared to the original where everything breaks a bit but the chassis is always mostly intact.

Still needs fine tuning, the way the cars come to a dead halt right after an impact is not right. Good effort on the model damage though, keep at it guys!

This mod should tie into the retire system when you crash out and cannot move, just like when going off a cliff in a couple areas where CM allows it.

I always thought the damage was a bit weak by comparison to Richard Burns Rally. Codies should seriously consider using this mod as an option for a future update! :D

Yes, this mod does not even come close to being realistic, but I don't know why people think the soft body physics of beamNG would be suitable for a rally game. Crash physics like that of beamNG's would be even further away from being realistic to those of the original in DiRT rally, due to roll cages and specialised bodies, however, I do believe the body of the cars could fall apart more, and the physics could be greatly improved, but the car should not be crushed into a ball of scrap after a crash.
Yep. There are many objects in the map that should be broken/deformed by the car and not the other way around. Like those sponsor tables and snowbanks.
Apart from that, this is a gr8 mod m8. i r8 5/7.
