    Nice video! It’s given me a new perspective so I think that kitchen sharpener and roller would be nice. Our kitchen knives and scissors are blunt as heck. A simple sharpening tool anyone can use. Greetings from Oregon and Happy Thanksgiving.

    I hate to say it but that little Worksharp and Benchmade EDC edge maintenance tool is one of my all time favorites it’s small and easy to use. The price is crazy but I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth out of it. Sad to see Benchmade is discontinuing it. Hopefully Worksharp will add it to their lineup.

    Same here my kitchen knives are blunt also. My wife destroys all the kitchen scissors I get
    .I've been looking for some good sharpening system I think that be helpful. Can't wait to get it to try out. You guys have the best job btw. Thanks for the video.

    This was great, thanks Zac. This is going to sound really stupid but I never thought about it before- my go to sharpener for my main kitchen knife is the lansky with the two sets of rods housed inside the wooden box / base. I just realized, when I do that I’m not actually sharpening it because I switch sides before getting a burr. I have other things to use but I’m going to try sticking with one side on the corse and see if I can get one. Glad I watched this, good info.

    Worksharp really knows how to make a great product.The EDC options are cool but I prefer to carry more than one blade with me rather than carry a sharpener, and anything dulled gets brought back to life at home with the precision adjust in a couple minutes.

      @johnandrewserranogarcia7223 9 месяцев назад +1

      I assumed the portable options are more for homesteaders, bushcrafters, hunters, guides that can spend a while in the field

    Before years I ruined my knives by low-budget-sharpeners.
    Trying to get better results by using expensive waterstones without experience didn’t work as well.
    After a time it fits well, but not in every case, certainly responding to my state of skill.
    Bought the Ken Onion made it better and improved my „skills“.
    Good results, happy, but hopefully sure it could be better.
    Bought the „Grinding Attachment“.
    I’m sure it didn’t made me a Pro, but I achieved more better results.
    Finishing on a strop my blades are razor shape.
    (Even though I think a real pro would get it better)

    Super interesting thanks
    I have just a doubt with the rolling sharpener for sharpening the tip of the knife(is it really sharpend correctly ?), not specialy the worksharp one it was the same with the first rolling sharpening I knew (the Horl)

    • @zacinthewild
      @zacinthewild  10 месяцев назад +1

      Same here😁. That’s why we included it. You do have to have the right technique for sure though. Worksharp has great instructional videos if you want the full breakdown.

    • @hackleberrym
      @hackleberrym 10 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, it's hard to sharpen the tip, but that rolling pull through sharpener is still the best thing you can give to a non-knife person who just wants to have their kitchen knives well sharpened. Zero skills required and the results are definitely decent.

    I always wonder how many people can actually fit all this "pocket-sized" EDC gear in their normal day to day pockets if they are not wearing work or cargo pants. My pocket sharpener (from Lansky) is ½ the size of this WS pocket sharpener, with diamond rod, ceramic rod and ceramic & carbide 20 degree slots. Also - how sharp is necessary to get the job done and how sharp is nerding out when cutting sheets of paper? 😉

    • @General_Kenobi_212
      @General_Kenobi_212 10 месяцев назад +5

      Well I'd say it's more "pocket" as in portable. You can also throw it in a bag, or leave it in your car, or something like that. 😅

    • @zacinthewild
      @zacinthewild  10 месяцев назад +5

      Totally agree I wouldn’t carry this around actually in my pocket😁

    • @codybroadway8496
      @codybroadway8496 10 месяцев назад

      The lansky is still ruining the edge of your knife and I have a whole truck with me everywhere I go so pockets don’t have to be 55
      Gallon

    • @clandestinetactical
      @clandestinetactical 10 месяцев назад +1

      That little lansky you’re talking about is one of the worst sharpeners in existence, pull through sharpeners destroy edges and leave chips .. check out OUTDOOR55’s review on pull through sharpeners… you will never touch one again after seeing the close up of the blade 😅

    • @cylentone
      @cylentone 10 месяцев назад

      @@codybroadway8496 A bold statement to put it mildly. I have been using the diamond rod and ceramic rod like the WS has for years now (on my 2nd Lansky) and have not ruined one edge, my knives are always as sharp as I need them (I don't cut paper to impress people or geek out with macro shots of my edges). Just because the Lansky has a carbide slot doesn't mean I use it - that could potentially "ruin an edge" if you don't know what it's actually for. If you have a truck for your EDC good for you - that is not the use case most content creators refer to when presenting EDC gear and doing pocket checks.

    I wish you would make that benchmade sharpener with the worksharp branding and colors it’s a nice looking sharpener great sized
    But I wouldn’t be cought dead with a benchmade product on me and I’m not the only one there’s a hell of a lot of us in the 2A community that have boycotted bm a long time back and won’t ever go back

    Fact:
    Steel rods are not for honing. Steel rods are for straightening up a bent edge. Ceramic rods are the ones for actual honing. I like having a small telescopic whetting rod of steel though, in case one of my finer edges gets bent a little, I can just straighten it back up and don't need to re-sharpen the bent burr all away. Also saves you material on your steel a ton.

    Zac, you are wrong about the roller sharpener. It is a huge overpriced piece of crap. The stones for what it does is not good. And Worksharp should have included more, but they didn't. How do you take their money to promote them when this is a crap product. Maybe if you had a set of balls and didn't want to be everyones friend, you should have spoken the truth.
