Thanks for showing that even the best stained glass artists can make mistakes. Your positive outlook gives me hope when I struggle with my projects. I ask myself, "What would Sophie do?" And then, I try to calm down, relax and push on.
I did that on a window where I put the wrong texture in. Thank God it was a piece at the top. Had to cut back into it to replace. Thanks for showing we all do it!
Thank you for sharing this with all of us. A quick question about your frame. As I see you cut it to get to the center, did you reframe or did you just solder?
Hi Sophie, hoping you can help 🙏 I have a client who I’ve just rebuilt one of her front door panels that I’m fitting with a saddle bar. Both panels originally weren’t fitted with saddle bars and she has asked me to fit one to other panel but it’s got really sticky hard putty holding it in. Have you ever tried drilling into such putty successfully as I don’t want to remove it and will try to solder ties in place, Jo x
You can drill into putty, no problem. I find the problem comes with getting the drill bit close enough to the glass without damaging it with the body of the drill.
@@SophiesStainedGlass also had another thought, it’s going to be really difficult actually getting the saddle bar in the second side unless I drill deeper into the first side to allow for clearance for the damn putty 😤

That fix was fantastic.

Good second effort, Sophie. Like it never even happened. Stay safe
Thanks!

It just takes a momentary lapse!

There is no frame as it's going into a door. I snipped through the perimeter lead and desoldered.

Yes, that's a thing.
Wow, I think I would have lost patience way before the 1h mark.
IKR!

It happens to everyone. You could of not shown it, but we learn a new skill. Problem solving.
Thanks!
